  1. Oops meant to say 10th - still hope to see them win though
  2. I was looking forward to the Coventry meeting, never mind at least its not cancelled just re-scheduled. I shall be supporting Rye at Poole on the 12th though so just hope the weather is good and the meeting doesn't get cancelled (can't wait to see Rye win )
  3. I'm thinking of coming up from Rye for this meeting but it's going to be weather permitting so I'll decide Monday morning. It's been a while since i've been to Wolverhampton and would like a bit of advice, what's the parking like, what time do the gates open and do I need to bring a chair or is there plenty of seating and is there a particular area where the away fans sit (although I don't mind sitting with Wolves fans as well as all us speedway supporters are a friendly bunch ) any help greatly appreciated, thanks.
  4. I think Rye House and Edinburgh need to get the control board to clarify the rule in writing and print the reply they get in both clubs programmes as this is causing an unwanted argument amongst speedway fans. As at present Rye have only had one rain off at Kings Lynn that will be 're arranged the rest of their fixture list are 'original fixtures' so I read the rule below as Rye have priority but if it is read as Ricky Wells original fixtures then Edinburgh appear to have priority. As I said Rye and Edinburgh need to get this clarified and quickly to save another 'Rob Branford' farce as I call it. A Rider must be released to take part in a higher priority Meeting, unless he is Doubling Up, in which case the priority for a clash of Official Meetings is as follows: - 1) The Original Fixture if there is a clash with a re-arranged Fixture
  5. The problem is Davey is not at or even anywhere near what his best in the past may have been as anyone who has seen him riding at Rye House this year can tell you. All riders have to retire at some point maybe now that time has come for Davey.
  6. Rye are a Premiership Club and as Ricky is an asset of Wolves who are also Premiership club Rye have priority. What would make more sense is to simplify the rules so that the club a rider signs for first at the beginning of the season should have priority but that would be too easy for the BSPA and SCB to actually do.
  7. Ricky Wells is a Wolves asset. Rule 16.1 page 40 of the speedway regulations explains the priority but I couldn't copy and paste it - bit rubbish with technology. Anyway if I was Steve Jenson I'd get priority all sorted in writing with the SCB before we end up with another farce like what happened with Rob Branford.
  8. Can anyone tell me what time the car park and the stadium opens please?
  9. Thanks for the advice, I take it that a Portaloo is optional and you do have some sort of loos ?
  10. Rob will be riding for Rye House, he is owned by Redcar but according to the 2nd priority (3) below, as he rode for Rye House last year we have priority. Also after last Saturdays debacle it states on the Rye website today "THE BMR Rockets have been boosted by an SCB verdict that they will have priority for the services of Rob Branford when fixture clashes arise with his SGB Championship club Sheffield. A Rider must be released to take part in a higher priority Meeting, unless he is “Doubling Up”, in which case the priority for a clash of Official Meetings is as follows: - 1) The Original Fixture if there is a clash with a re-arranged Fixture 2)1st priority to the owner of the rider 3) 2nd priority to the previous season club 4) 3rd priority to the league in which the owner club is a member. Ellis Perks is owned by Poole but he will be riding on Thursday so Rye should have their full 1 - 7 team, fingers crossed, as who knows in Speedway and I think us fans of all teams are getting a bit fed up with rules being mis-understood or ignored I'm thinking of coming from Rye on Thursday and bit of advise re stadium please would be appreciated as its years since I've visited Blunsdon. Is there any seating, do I need to bring a chair or will a cushion on a bench do, us oldies like a bit of comfort you know, especially if we are unable to stand for the whole of a meeting because of aches and pains, also whats it like for parking and is there a pub nearby where I can get a meal at a reasonable price. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  11. I know I am not alone in being disgusted by the decision re Rob last Saturday. I've just read the ruling posted on the Rye website. http://www.ryehouserockets.co /news.php?extend.1394 but win or lose I would rather it had been with our full team especially as it now appears re the SCB ruling we did actually have priority over Rob. Goody - we now have it sorted that we have priority over him in future - those fixtures lists were out weeks ago as was the 2017 rule book, I quite agree with other posters that this should have been sorted out days before the meeting NOT 2 days after. We have a Management team who with all good intentions are trying hard but if us fans can sit down and read the rules surely at the beginning of the season Managements of any team need to sit down, look at their riders who are doubling up, check out dates where there may be clashes and SORT OUT the priority before it becomes the farce that us fans had to put up with last week. The fact that Peter Schroeck said on the mike words to the effect that although Rob was riding at Sheffield "it was all good now". To us fans it wasn't all good he could at least have said something along the lines that "he thanks Ben for riding for us but that Rye would be taking the matter further on Monday as they were very unhappy about the situation" instead of being all nicey nicey about it. I have no problem with Ben Morley riding for us but if this was a case of our Management being happy to help Sheffield out thats 'not on' we pay our money to see our team ride not have guest riders unless it is absolutely essential, as in the case of injuries. Another point to make I know the rule book is over 60 pages long, no one can take all that in, but the riders should be responsible for checking machinery etc. rules. The Management and officials should be fully conversant with team rules, ie, doubling up, tactical rides etc BUT surely the riders if they are doubling up could have a look at the doubling up rules as well and work out for themselves who gets priority over them for meeting clashes then if they get phone calls from their clubs saying your riding for us not the other team this week they could also point out where feel they are riding.
  12. God knows - but I will email the Control Board at Rugby (email: info@scbgb.co.uk) and see if I get any sort of response. I know - lets all email them and see what happens - probably nothing but you never know!
  13. Exactly! On Sheffield web site they say they've been in touch with the governing body for clarification, I will be emailing the governing body and asking them to explain it to me in plain English as well because on the priority list number 1 comes before number 2 therefore number 3 must come before 4, or is my maths as bad as that of the governing body!
  14. Point 2 - He's a Redcar asset, point 3 He rode for Rye House last year, point 4 - Redcar and Sheffield are in the same league. So it must be point 4 takes preference over point 3 in other words stick a pin in and see what you end up with. Poor Rob must be going up and down various motorways today not knowing where he will end up - what a shambles. Let's hope Ben Morley is still available.
  15. Just got my brain in gear and with pencil and paper in hand I think I am right in saying Ellis Perks is a Poole asset and last year he rode for Plymouth and Eastbourne so by my calculations I assume that on Thursday at Swindon Rye will have priority over Redcar - hope I've worked it out right
  16. Have to totally agree with that, also Redcar are at home on Thursday wonder if that means we may lose Ellis Perks as well, certainly hope not, if we get a good result tonight and the weather is good on Thursday I may make the trip down to Swindon to support what I hope will be our full 1 - 7 team with no guests. Thanks for that info, I wonder why Rye were originally allowing him to ride at Sheffield tonight, was it trying to be helpful at the expense of our team or was it that someone was just as confused about the rules as me, anyway reading your post makes it much clearer thank you.
  17. Rye website saying Rob Branford is now riding for us against Swindon tonight and I'm happy with that but am wondering can anyone explain who actually had priority, Rye or Sheffield?
  18. As we have Ben Morley as guest as Rob Branford is riding for Sheffield on Saturday anyone know if that means we will also need a guest for him in the return leg at Swindon and also for Ellis Perks as Sheffield and Redcar are both racing at home on 13th April?
  19. After being at p & p I was a bit worried about the facilities but think Steve Jenson and his team did a good job in 3 days in getting that stand put up in front of the starting tapes and with more improvements to come things are looking up at Rye. Last nights down side - length of queues for fish and chips and getting out of the car park but those are minor points to me after such a good evening. Up side big crowd and we won but better than that we are top of the league And after the team performance last night I am feeling optimistic enough to start planning to attend a few away meetings.
  20. No news on p & p yet I wonder if there will be one open to the fans and as our no.1 and no. 3 riders are at Somerset on Friday presumably it will not be that day.
  21. Well that's cleared that up then. Better check whether we have a team before I set out round the M25 traffic jam for a meeting !
  22. Thanks for the explanation re Saturday racing. I read we are also hosting the Premier League pairs which they were hoping would be in April but I cannot see that listed, anyone know if are we still having this meeting, I see May 29th is reserved so could be that date. Another question - I know some of our riders compete in leagues abroad who gets priority over them if there are fixture clashes?
  23. Rye have just published the fixtures list on the their website. I was under the impression they were going to keep to Saturdays for the majority of meetings but without listing them here it would seem that during August out of 5 home meetings only 1 of them is on a Saturday, 1 is Bank holiday Monday and the other 3 are on Wednesdays and what looks like it may be the last home meeting of the season is on 6th September which is also a Wednesday (play offs obviously may come into it at a later date). Bearing in mind we don't have what I would class as 'local derbys' anymore I wonder what size the crowd will be during August on Wednesday nights seeing as many people work during the week, the teams we are racing against are not local and it is also the school holidays!
  24. I totally agree with you, at this stage supporters need to do all they can to keep the Bees alive, with not enough supporters turning up for meetings the powers that be will not need a better excuse to close the Bees down, no Speedway supporters wants that - even if we do support other clubs. Hopefully the Bees will be back at Brandon sooner rather than later.
