Rye House V Plymouth 25/06/2016
hammer1969 replied to DragonsDen's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm 45 minutes drive from the track and it's pouring down, anyone know what it's like at the track at the moment as I can't decide whether to stay home or make the journey? -
Not So Positive Rye House Vib's
hammer1969 replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sorry but I don't know where the original poster was standing when apparently "someone fell down on the broken plank" but we stand right where it is and saw it bending, we mentioned it straight away to a staff member and the plank was fixed over it within minutes. I agree it could be a trip hazard but we all know it's there and are being careful and we were told that as part of the stadium improvements that area will be replaced. As for the car park sorry but even last season with the attendant the parking was a "do it yourself effort" especially as the attendant went into the stadium when the meeting started and people using the pub and kart track also use it. As for the music "Those Magnificent Men" perhaps Len took it with him - thank goodness - I much prefer what's played now and from the way the team seem to be riding "as a team" and also the improved atmosphere on the terrace this year I am hopeful of better things to come. -
Brummies V Rye House Wed 25th May

I'm sure I read somewhere this is being broadcast live on a Midlands radio station but I can't find a link can anyone help? -
Could it be that he really may want to follow in his dad's footsteps but as you say he really isn't up to it, surely now it's time someone sat him down and had a good chat re his Speedway ambitions ie his dad, or could it be that is where he is getting encouragement from to keep trying even though surely it is now obvious to all concerned he has made no progress at all since arriving at Rye House

Quote from the Rye website tonight “And even though Peter (Karger) struggled on the track, he was there for the team and helping out wherever he could, which highlights the spirit in the camp and how hard everyone is trying". My answer to that is he may be a nice person, a team player and helping other riders in the pits etc. but if he can't get points on the track I'm sorry but in the best interests of the team he has to go. We were lucky tonight to finish within 2 points of Ipswich which should give us a good chance on Saturday to progress in the cup but our luck is not going to hold out forever and when it runs out supporters will start drifting away and I don't think anyone wants to see that happening. Team BMR I hope you are taking on board comments made on this website by paying supporters!

I hope your right, it's not fair to the rest of the team who may not all score in double figures, but who at least get some points, to have a rider in the team who only gets a point when 3 riders finish the race. Perhaps Karger is trying but he is clearly not up to Premier League standard.

Pretty sure the bridge at Dobbs weir is closed this weekend -
Plymouth Vs Rye House (lc) - 15/04/16

Thanks for that, I've had a quick look but decided my brain won't take that lot in tonight, especially as TR rides are allowed in EL only between heats 5-11 but between heats 5-12 in PL, perhaps the penalty spot in football should be moved round depending on which league you play in (lol) -

Well done to the team on their win tonight but could someone please tell me if tactical rides are allowed in league cup meetings as I didn't think they were and also a link to the rules would be appreciated so I can have a read myself. -
Could you post a link to where you read the news please as I'm unable to find it myself?

Best wishes for tonight we may all support rival teams but no Speedway supporter likes to see tracks shutting down

Rye House Vs Plymouth Sat 19th March 7pm
hammer1969 replied to barraider's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm feeling more optimistic now for this season after seeing tonights meeting. It's a shame that most of the crowd had left the stadium before the team went round on their 'victory walk' but I can understand why as I still haven't warmed up, hopefully it won't be so cold on Easter Monday and we can get another good result. -
Press and Practice tomorrow, 16th, 11am, it will be interesting to see the track changes and I assume that we may start the season on Saturday with a new track record holder if the alterations that have been made have significantly altered the track.

I was looking forward to my trip to Rye House on Thursday, wonder what the "unexpected circumstances" are?
-
Thank you for the update. My point of view is that we speedway supporters have lost so many tracks/clubs in the past that when changes start to happen at any track we fear the worst and none of us wants to see another one disappear, you only need to Google 'Defunct Speedway Tracks' to see what I mean. At one time Speedway was the second biggest spectator sport in this country, football being the first. Anyone who does anything to keep the sport alive will get my support and hopefully we will see Rye Rockets finish in the top half of the table this year and maybe even Draught beer in the bar.
-
Too true, I sincerely hope something is happening but with so many lost Speedway venues in the past no news does start people thinking the worst is lurking around the corner, I doubt any Speedway supporter wants to see another track disappear
-
Quite agree re communication, I was looking at the NL Wightlink Warriors forum posts recently, the first entry was from Andy an official member of the Warriors off track staff and I think he made a good start to that forum by introducing himself and doing his best to answer questions, Rye staff should take a leaf from his book, whether we like their answers or not it would be better than the deathly silence we are getting at present.

Just noticed on the Rye web site that Team BMR will be having a display zone at WRSA Celebration of Speedway at Paradise Wildlife Park next Sunday 21st manned by Steve Jenson, John Sampford and Peter Schroeck and some of the Rockets and Raiders team will be there. There is a suggested minimum donation of £5 entry but that also entitles you to entry to the Zoo and if anyone feels like it you could probably ask what is actually occuring at Rye House at present re the improvement works and will it include permanently sorting out the crater at the car park entrance. On a lighter note you also get to see all the animals in the zoo !
-
Hadn't noticed that bit in the spelling but do agree with you, suppose number 7 might be RR then.
-
As far as I know - unless the management are keeping it very quiet - we have still only declared 6 riders for this season Jason Bunyan has just become New Zealand Champion again beating Bradley Wilson-Dean do we want him back? I dont' know !!
-
Tyson Nelson maybe ? he seems to be doing pretty well lately in Australia - if only they can sort the Visa issues
-
Re the bit "measures to reduce noise pollution" let's all hope that doesn't mean Rye ends up with the same problem Mildenhall has. Some of these Planning Officers want to take a look at the noise coming from motorways/main roads etc. which are built next to residential areas before they start trying to take away places to entertainment, we don't all want to go to football matches/cinema/shopping centres for our entertainment. If a speedway track was in existance before houses were built it should be allowed to continue.
-
They do leave by the pit gate then down the concreted road that leads mainly to and from the kart track but they still have to negotiate the crater at the car park entrance, I see the ambulance coming in the gate at the meetings and they bounce about as much as my poor little car.
-
I think the stadium, Speedway and kartrack, is owned by Lea Valley Regional Park Authority and Warren Scott/Len Silver lease the stadium from them, hopefully on a 99 year lease. I would have thought if the state of the car park is the responsibility of the leaseholders then Scott/Silver and the pub if included should get it sorted, if it's the owners of the land's responsibility then Scott/Silver should get onto Lea Valley Authority to sort it, if they are proper businessmen all the details of who is responsible for what should be clearly set out in the lease. If a rider is badly injured and has to be taken out in the ambulance I don't think the holes, or should I say 'crater' at the entrance would do much to help their injuries.
