You can't turn the clock back, all this negativity is doing no good at all. I understand the comments but I repeat what I said in an earlier post "Speedway needs Coventry and Coventry needs Speedway." What is needed now is positive actions from all concerned including Supporters" I watch most of my Speedway at Rye House and I follow them but I will only ever have one real team West Ham - the original and in my eyes the only "Hammers" - sorry Lakeside/Arena Essex I have nothing against you but I could not bring myself to support you as to me there was and will only ever be one Hammers. Coventry supporters please take note the Bees are your team if you give up what incentive will there be for MH or any other future management to bother, not to mention sponsors who are vital to all clubs nowadays and most importantly the riders who don't need negativity they need and deserve your support. Follow Plymouths example last year they started the season then folded BUT with determination and goodwill within weeks they were up and running again, they may be NL this year but Plymouth have a speedway team and supporters have somewhere to watch this fantastic family sport. Please lets hope Coventry Speedway and it's supporters and the Council, not forgetting the BSPA, can work together now to move forward to enable Speedway in this area to continue and hopefully in 3 years have a new track of their own to ride on and enthusiastic people to support it. I say again "you can't turn the clock back" now is the time to try to forget the past and start moving forward and the best way to do that is to let the powers that be know you want and need speedway in Coventry. I for one will visit when your oppononents are Rye House and I hope fans from other clubs who can make the journey to BP or Brandon will do the same when their team visit so that in our own way we are trying to help you keep your speedway team alive. GOOD LUCK YOU BEES.

Hope this is now the start of a new beginning and not the start of a gradual demise Speedway needs Coventry and Coventry needs Speedway. What is needed now is positive actions from all concerned including Supporters, your journey to BP may be longer but if you can make the journey do anything you can to try to keep your great club going, suggestions on this forum would be an idea and perhaps the management may take some on board. I'll start it off - how about a park and ride - park at Brandon and a coach to and from BP at minimum price and you get some good conversation with fellow supporters on the way.

I know, thats why I suggested a ground share might be an option still being looked at, no idea who with though, I'm just hoping like all speedway fans Coventry can find a way to continue
-
Have another look apart from home fixtures at Brandon and one away early in the season at Rye House and all meetings against Leicester I can't see any other Coventry away fixtures with TBC next to them - ground share then perhaps?

Promotion/relegation.

Quite agree and also how will a rider feel riding for a team that wants to stay up which means his other team may have to stay down! -
I have been going to Rye House for years and before that West Ham and I do get fed up if my team keep losing but I still go back as I support them through the good times and the bad and as long as the riders try and it's a good meeting I go home happy. I'm hoping this year we will win something but like a previous post said not everyone can win the most important thing at the moment is that Speedway survives it's a good sport and suitable for all the family where both home and away fans can stand together at a meeting and share a bit of banter without it leading to a punch up.

For all the dart players out there - and anyone else - on 28th November this year that makes it " O N E H U N D R E D & E I G H T Y " and thats quite a good score in my book, and please don't anyone tell me my maths doesn't add up because it is my weakest subject but if I'm right (or not) it's put a smile on my face this morning

Eddies back - happy days ahead

It's Robbo!

I'm not sure on this signing but only time will tell.
-
Definitely a decent shop for the supporters to buy pens, boards, memorabilia etc and a sweetshop would go down well with me
-
Like it - can't wait to see who else we've signed. If the number 7 has to be a British rider does Robert Branford qualify as he holds a British passport ?
-
If they won't have Saturday meetings when there will be a clash with Grand Prix meetings does that mean one of the team will be a current GP rider? Also as a couple of meetings will be Monday nights has the deal already been done for Sky to screen them? As there is "quiet competition" for the number 1 spot will Eddie still be riding for us? Roll on Monday! And team BMR as you seem to be reading this forum please can we have somewhere at ground level where we can buy pens, boards, badges etc. we can't all manage those stairs up to the bar where they have been recently!

I realise Kings Lynn and Coventry are the nearest to Rye House but from where I live in London if I now want to go to an away meeting to get to Leicester it will take me approx. 2 hours as its 108 miles and Coventry is just over the 2 hours being 121 miles, Ipswich used to take me just over an hour. Hopefully I will be able to get to a couple of away meetings though, but at the moment I am just hoping most of the Rye House meetings will be at the weekend so that I wont have to negotiate the M25 during the weekday rush hour, mind you when is there not any problems or roadworks on the M25 lately. Hopefully as you say we may get more supporters from away teams visiting Rye as some of the teams in the new league are nearer to Rye than a lot of those in the old league, just just hope the ticket prices dont rise too much - fingers crossed.
-
Things seem to be sounding positive for the future but I do hope the majority of meetings are held at the weekend. If they want to keep crowd numbers up the promotion need to remember many people work during the week and lots of us that support Rye Rockets don't live locally and having to travel there when our journeys possibly include using the M25, M11, M1 etc during weekday rush hour wont be as easy as at the weekend. Also as our next nearest teams are Kings Lynn and Leicester they really need some away fans support not only for the gate money but for the atmosphere which adds to a good meeting.

Good grief 'worse' glad I wasn't going to Rye House then, used to go regularly to West Ham but when they closed down didn't go for quite a few years due to young children and shift work although still followed results etc. Kids now all grown up and no more shift work so have been enjoying my favourite sport live again for the last few years. Just hope Rye going 'up' doesn't mean the same for entrance prices as I may have to pick and choose my meetings as I expect many others may have to as well.

I would prefer to be in the SGB Championship, I liked my only local derby trip to Ipswich, but as there is now relegation between the top and bottom team we could well be back next year anyway unless the promoters can sort out a good team, perhaps they could look at some of the suggestions put forward on this forum by fans who seem to have good ideas. What I would like to know is now we are in the SGB Premiership will Sky be broadcasting from Rye House occasionally, or does the contract they hold etc. only hold good if it's called the 'Elite' league and if they do will the car park get a permanent make-over. It seems OK for us paying supporters to subject out poor little cars, not to mention our poor backs, to the bumps and potholes every week but I wonder if Sky will be inclined to subject their thousands of pounds worth of equipment to the same treatment ?

Not So Positive Rye House Vib's
hammer1969 replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sorry but I don't know where the original poster was standing when apparently "someone fell down on the broken plank" but we stand right where it is and saw it bending, we mentioned it straight away to a staff member and the plank was fixed over it within minutes. I agree it could be a trip hazard but we all know it's there and are being careful and we were told that as part of the stadium improvements that area will be replaced. As for the car park sorry but even last season with the attendant the parking was a "do it yourself effort" especially as the attendant went into the stadium when the meeting started and people using the pub and kart track also use it. As for the music "Those Magnificent Men" perhaps Len took it with him - thank goodness - I much prefer what's played now and from the way the team seem to be riding "as a team" and also the improved atmosphere on the terrace this year I am hopeful of better things to come. -
Brummies V Rye House Wed 25th May

I'm sure I read somewhere this is being broadcast live on a Midlands radio station but I can't find a link can anyone help? -
Could it be that he really may want to follow in his dad's footsteps but as you say he really isn't up to it, surely now it's time someone sat him down and had a good chat re his Speedway ambitions ie his dad, or could it be that is where he is getting encouragement from to keep trying even though surely it is now obvious to all concerned he has made no progress at all since arriving at Rye House
-
Quote from the Rye website tonight “And even though Peter (Karger) struggled on the track, he was there for the team and helping out wherever he could, which highlights the spirit in the camp and how hard everyone is trying". My answer to that is he may be a nice person, a team player and helping other riders in the pits etc. but if he can't get points on the track I'm sorry but in the best interests of the team he has to go. We were lucky tonight to finish within 2 points of Ipswich which should give us a good chance on Saturday to progress in the cup but our luck is not going to hold out forever and when it runs out supporters will start drifting away and I don't think anyone wants to see that happening. Team BMR I hope you are taking on board comments made on this website by paying supporters!
