  1. Perhaps phil rising could respond. But don't think Neil macfarlane does hoaxes What I'm concerned about is does speedway need another individual competition
  2. Copied from a Facebook post: Following is a press release sent to the Speedway Star 3 weeks ago. They have decided not to publish the release, which of course is their prerogative, so I am reproducing the article in full here and now. Please everybody feel free to post on as many Speedway Sites worldwide. ( John Houston) as possible to spread the word. A worldwide TV audience will see the official launch of World Elite Speedway in October 2017, In an attempt to clarify the situation and stop malicious rumours and ill informed guess work by certain sections of the Speedway media. World Elite Speedway have issued the following statement. "World Elite Speedway is being set up to take Speedway to new audiences worldwide. The concept is the brainchild of Ducati Moto GP supremo Toni Franchitti. Broadly speaking the series will be staged at locations close to the Moto GP circuits worldwide. Toni who is a very successful Italian businessman has appointed his daughter BIANCA and former Scottish Speedway legend NEIL MACFARLANE as joint Chief Executive Officers. Neil said that Toni has always had a passion for two wheeled motor sports and when he approached me to help run the project I had no hesitation in accepting the challenge. The riders will come from the top echelon of world speedway whom are available to sign lucrative contracts before the end of this year. Planning is at an advanced stage with top Speedway personnel from Hungary, Poland, America as well as the United Kingdom already on board. All officials already committed to the project have a wealth of experience from riding at the top level, through team management and promoting, including FIM events. WES executives have already had meetings with the FIM to discuss the project and more meetings are planned in the near future" There you have it guys and gals, that should help to clarify the situation and stop ill informed guesswork.
  3. Bit harsh. Could easily have said the bottom end of the team has exceeded expectations on a number of occasions. Can't understand fans that seem to think that there riders should be able to perform at there best every time and no matter where they ride. One defeat at home and still in the play offs yea what a terrible position to be in
  4. The reason for Richards poor score last night for Glasgow is that he was involved in a bad incident in heat 1. He was battered and bruised and his bike was mangled. May be you could dig into your bike fund and help him out?
  5. Another example of a crazy rule hampering a promoter putting out a competive team
  6. If dan is missing then jack will be missing as well
  7. don't know why some posters are saying saturdays aren't working. i've enjoyed them a lot more than the sundays- racings been better, track easier to prepare? crowd up for it, having a few beers better atmosphere, The fixtures could have been compiled better but the real problem is riders riding for more than one team both here and abroad. As has been said in lots of threads on here, we need to get back to weekly speedway and teams that had the original fixture rained off should be obliged to come to us on a blank Saturday otherwise what the point of having blank dates in the fixtures to accommodate rain offs!
  8. The 4s are on a Sunday we are meant to ride on a Saturday night so there is no clash and no need to miss a weekend
  9. I want to watch my team race on there designated night not some 'filler meeting' and certainly not at Berwick!.
  10. when promotors and team managers don't understand the rules maybe its time they were simplified
  11. If done properly it works. The promotion trusted existing fans to only give the tickets to new or lapsed fans. They have gone public to thank the fans after the first meeting which had c2000 fans 1100 paying; 840 free. Lots of food, drink was sold plus souveniers etc. I would guess they took in at least £4000 that they wouldn't have got if not for the one-off freebie.
  12. Have to feel for the bandits this year's example of a team hampered by the sports stupid use of averages
  13. OK Edinburgh have a great home advantage but doubt if they'll top the league at the end of the season but then again with the way the fixtures are being planned for the tv I can see the play-offs taking place before all matches have been played so they might be top cos they've raced more fixture! When you look at the current table Glasgow have got a point from every match bar one so there not relying on just there home form. The only teams not to have dropped points at home are Glasgow Ipswich and Sheffield none of which are trick tracks and teams might not have beaten them but have got the bonus point against them.
  14. Also good to see some Sheffield fans in the crowd. did wonder if moving to a Saturday night would attract more visiting fans. Anyway hope you all enjoyed your visit even though the result wasn't what you might have hoped for.
  15. I actually enjoyed the meeting, some spectacular racing, thought howarth tried his guts out in his first 3 races and bjerre and Josh were good value. Our top 5 were impressive and the reserves both did their job and more. Another good crowd but not surprisingly down on last week. Roary was good fun and the ref kept the match going with everything finished just after 8.30.
  16. Just had a thought. if the 1100 that paid last week and 840 newbies all come again this week and pay plus more newbies it is going to be really packed. so can see people needing to arrive early to get there seat in the stand and best positions on the terracing
  17. Taken from Tigers official facebook site TEAM NEWS: This Saturday night a very strong Sheffield team visit the Den in search of SGB Championship points. Gates Open 5.30pm Tapes Up 7pm Reminder - New Supporter vouchers are valid for this and every meeting in the 2017 season. GLASGOW 'Allied Vehicles' TIGERS... 1 Richard Lawson 9.19 2 Nike Lunna 5.83 3 Aaron Summers © 8.98 4 Dan Bewley 5.64 5 Richie Worrall 8.95 6 Tom Perry 3.71 7 Jack Smith 2.00 TM - Stewart Dickson. SHEFFIELD 'Window Centre' TIGERS 1 Josh Grajczonek 9.46 2 Todd Kurtz 5.02 3 Lasse Bjerre 7.38 4 Josh Bates 6.33 5 Kyle Howarth © 8.19 6 Robert Branford 4.30 7 Nathan Stoneman 2.00 TM - Simon Stead. I'm worried about this one. Sheffield on paper look stronger than both Workington and Ipswich and they ran us close. Josh G could go through the card and Kyle Howarth rode well last year at Ashfield. Mr Bates has had a few shockers but he did have one amazing meeting where he punched well above his weight. So it could come down to which version turns up and pressure again on our 2 reserves. Glasgow to win with Sheffield just missing out on a bonus.
  18. Good to see this, the more publicity the better. But it did say on the official facebook page 1110 regulars and 840 newbies. What sounds better 750+ or 840? Bound to be a PR thing
  19. Interesting assessment. I actually enjoyed the match up to heat 10 and even the kids race. But the atmosphere changed, the crowd were getting bored and you got the feeling the Tigers are going to blow it. I also don't think you can just assume that the grading was responsible for what you think was better racing. The way the heats work out you have riders of similar abilities in the last few heats which can result in closer racing. Also Ipswich had more time to adjust setup.
  20. to be fair I had no problem with your post in isolation but when northyorksbear commented felt I had to point out that wasn't happening, wouldn't want anyone getting the wrong idea due to someone misinterpreting your perfectly reasonable post .
