Workington Comets vs Poole Pirates 27th July
KIRKYLANE replied to lbw's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Excellent entertainment today with good racing from both sides. Top class track well looked after by Steve Lawson. I am sure Workington will move forwards and upwards in the passage of time. Keep up the good work -
If you had to pick one meeting as your most memorable meeting which would it be and why? For me it was my first meeting abroad in 1976 in Katowice where Peter Collins was crowned World champion… first Brit for 13 years to be World champion. 130,000 in the stadium with good racing and an experience of a lifetime… and a Belle Vue rider crowned as champion. over 62 years watching Speedway there have been many memorable meetings but this is number one

Speedway of Nations 2024
KIRKYLANE replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In a pairs event , then 4,3,2,0 is the correct scoring. to promote team racing for a pairs event. we should be celebrating a fantastic night of racing which culminated in a terrific grand final in heat 23. A massive thank you to Chris Morton who created/designed the track. -
Speedway of Nations 2024
KIRKYLANE replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
After 3 Meetings which had most difficult conditions due to bad weather, tonight’s meeting showed what a brilliant track we have at the NSS. The racing was high quality and allowed us to see some new names that triumphed with some great racing. A big shout out to the meeting which gave GB something to cheer about. -

Apparently Discovery insisted that Belle Vue must pay for the temporary stand if they wanted the final. -
Speedway of Nations 2024
KIRKYLANE replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Considering the weather for the first three meetings, big plaudits to the track staff for getting the meetings on and producing good racing in most difficult conditions. A massive congratulations to all of the riders for putting in some excellent efforts and hard aggressive riding. Hopefully weather will be kind for what should be a great final today. Finally putting on 28 races in 2 hours 15 mins was extraordinary. -

Poole v Edinburgh Weds 3rd July 2024.
KIRKYLANE replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fairly standard meeting for Poole They get the win… passing after half a lap down to a minimum.. entertainment value re quality of racing gets a lucky one out of ten -
Plymouth v Edinburgh 02/07

You must be a masochist -
Connor has had some good meetings and should be thanked for his efforts. However, the chance to sign Tate as a young prospect with great potential cannot be underestimated. Best of luck to Tate.. have watched him on BSN and it is a great signing.

Cracking meeting with good racing from both sides. Norick had his best performance this year and raced his socks off. The Speedway of Nations is now a mouth watering attraction coming our way soon.

Berwick v Glasgow CL 22/06/24 7-00pm
KIRKYLANE replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Good win for Glasgow. Track was causing riders problems….. entertainment value 1 out of 10… riders having difficulty catching up distance.. very little passing after the first half lap. I have never liked the track.Only visited Berwick as part of a trip.. Edinburgh ,Berwick and Glasgow. Biggest track in Britain and biggest bore watching the racing. -
Well done Redcar.A meeting ran efficiently with track grades and finishing just before 9pm. Enjoyable racing as always at Redcar.

Sometimes a track is not raceable but it is rideable. If it is rideable then they should continue…. If it is dangerous to the riders then it should definitely be off. It would be interesting to know from the ref why it was abandoned.

After 61 years of watching Speedway, I have had to stop going due to family circumstances. I paid for a season pass so I can see live Speedway even if it is streaming. it is good to be keeping in touch via streaming. 2 more meeting this week and the SGP on Eurosport.

British Final 2024
KIRKYLANE replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
When the BLRCF was at Hyde road the racing was excellent just like at the NSS. IF you are at a track like the NSS, where it is regarded by riders as a top quality track, then there is no real home track advantage.Any quality rider can perform on the track. I agree that nowadays set ups are high on the agenda for success… At Belle Vue we are so blessed to have such a fantastic track and stadium. -
British Final 2024
KIRKYLANE replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Great to see Dan get three on the bounce. Delighted that Tom B gets the wild card at Cardiff. great racing and lots of entertainment. Plaudits to Anders Rowe and Connor Mountain for producing a good performance in the British Final. The NSS IS A MARVELLOUS TRACK and should hold the British Final every year. You only have to listen to the riders when they applaud it as a great race track. Hyde road had the BLRCF every year and produced outstanding meetings …. often far superior to the one off World Finals Roll on the Speedway of Nations for another feast of entertainment and hopefully gold for GB. Hope that they now keep the final to a Saturday night so that there will be a greater attendance than on a Monday. -
Kings Lynn v Sheffield 6/6
KIRKYLANE replied to Manifesto's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Some good racing tonight. painful to listen to Tai rabbiting on…. He has passed his best and is on a downward slope. Hope Lynn have done enough to get through -
Poole Pirates Vs Redcar Bears 5th June
KIRKYLANE replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I am sure the Poole fans will have gone home happy. Quality of racing was dreadful. Entertainment value probably 1/10 As Sam Hagon said it is gate and go I remember when on a Southern trip , I saw Poole v Kings Lynn…. Score was 40- 38. The only genuine pass all night was when Tomas Topinka made the only pass of the night in heat 13. -

Very enjoyable meeting.Boughen, Ford and Hagon rode well. Delighted for Sam Hagon.. he deserved the title. I have seen Boughen a few times on BSN and he has been very impressive for one so young -
So sad. To hear of the break in. Workington have done a great job so far..brilliant track. i do hope their insurance covers everything and things can get back to where they were soon

Prague can produce good racing but it is notoriously difficult to pass on. They prepared the track to get the meeting on under difficult weather conditions…. Plaudits to Craig Ackroyd for cracking on with the meeting. a meeting to forget
