Redcar Vs Leicester 10/09
Fortythirtyeight replied to MartinBSN's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The only team Bears have scored heavily against at home has been Plymouth , every team likes riding at Redcar and most have gained a point or come lose to wining only for the Bears to pull it out of the bag in the last race. I expect the same in this match. -
Birmingham & Newcastle deadline
Fortythirtyeight replied to MartinBSN's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
An announcer on £100 a meeting ? I think that is a major exaggeration to justify a decision . Roy does a top job, he didn’t slag Newcastle off but Granty overreacted on the say so of tittle tattle, not the first time, but as stated , it’s his club and he runs it how he wants . It’s very sad that the Diamonds look to be no more but some of the stuff put about on here in the recent past hasn’t done the club any favours. I’ll be there on Sunday to pay my respects to a historic club but the last few years , added to this years disaster, has brought about the end of speedway on Tyneside as the fans have drifted away and it’s no longer a sustainable business. That could be repeatable at a few clubs very soon, sadly. -

But qualified as he wasn’t at the original cut off date and was injured so missed the first attempt at running the meeting. -

There have been showers , some heavy, since 2 pm, when I arrived in the town centre, about a mile from the track and looking like more to come . -

Yes and have been to Redcar too. I also noted that on each occasion Redcars track was deep and well watered, never seen dust there so I believe you are quite wrong. -

So the referee ( s) stopped the meeting on the say so of one team manager ?…..really ? and then the ref (s) told the track curator exactly how to prepare the track to Redcars advantage ? Next you will be saying man didn’t land on the moon. -

Only time Redcar came close was under Taylor as he didn’t pay the bills, still had a crowd and a good track. Havelock may have seen the team as regular wooden spoonists but it was never close to closing as he ran it within its budget, unlike many these days it seems. Redcar have thrived since he left with new management and a more positive attitude since 2017. -

and ignore dangerous tracks ? as that is all this boils down too……lack of proper track preparation . -

Redcars ‘ cash cow ‘ is the fact that the club is run correctly and puts its track top of its priorities, hence a large crowd every week. Perhaps someone at Birmingham might like to take note. -

They don’t race on the terraces though. Cant blame Redcar or any other team for lack of professionalism. As recent photos and video clips show, the track looks good, if your in front, terrible for everyone else, including the dust covered fans who can’t even see who finished where. I accept you supporting your team but it doesn’t make it a well run club. -

I think lack of track preparation ( again !) killed any chance of Birmingham running next season. -

So one rider rides better than you expect and therefore everything is hunky dorie ? The club would not have done the extensive track work if it was only Redcar complaining. The ref also agreed to the track work being done. The biggest complainers were the amateurish Birmingham promoters who have proved their ineptitude once again. If you can’t prepare a half decent , safe, race track , because of “ lack of time “, then don’t try and promote speedway ! -

Your just believing the Birmingham hype. If you were in the pits you would have heard the two home riders complaining . -
