Wow! I must have missed the press release when Glasgow were announced in the NDL Trophy competition. Try reading the above post . -
MIDLAND DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE 2024
Fortythirtyeight replied to Speedway fan's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
As evidence look at the British Youth championship, they struggle to get more than four in the 500 class but have had to create two separate classes for the 125’s. They are a couple turning 15 this coming year but there’s been very little coming through and jumping on 500’s. The fact the MDL can only field 3 teams says a lot and out of the list of riders used how many rode in 4 or more matches ? Nine ? yet three four rider teams require twelve riders. At the end of 2025 lets see how many new names appeared. -

There are more 125 riders now than 500’s. -
Confirmed Signings for 2025

Xmas quiz… which team is geographically out on a northern limb , not announced any riders or even a press release on their inclusion and surrounded by neighbourhood teams in the NDL ? -

No but the organiser has approached riders and is quite happy to tell who's in the team. -

You can CONFIRM Kings Lynn but you will be scratching one team shortly. -
and very understandable…..Just wait for it to be ‘official’.

So rules / agreements have never been changed in speedway before ? Well it cant be taken very seriously with only 4/5 teams in it and the riders all riding for other clubs who probably take priority on any clashes as will any championship call ups but lets hope all is rosey in the speedway garden and its better run than the rest of the sport.

Middlesbrough Tigers 2025
Fortythirtyeight replied to Fortythirtyeight's topic in National League Speedway
Exactly….this is the same attitude that killed Buxton off. -
Dont get too excited too soon, lot of rumours about discontent in this NDL 2 set up . It certainly doesnt make sense geography wise when Workingtons neighbours, Edinburgh , Redcar and Sheff/Scuny dont have to travel to Plymouth , Kent or Kings Lynn in mid week for a meaningless development fixture. Surely a north south split would have been more sensible and might even attract fans to travel.

and that’s why many of the kids don’t last long, they forget to have FUN ! Look what happened to Joe Haines, Kyle Bickley and quite a few others….all very professional and burnt out before they were in the mid 20’s !
-
It was always fun having them in the pits last season , Ben just likes to have fun , as KK says. You might just have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, riders do have ups and downs you know, they are human after all.

Middlesbrough Tigers 2025
Fortythirtyeight replied to Fortythirtyeight's topic in National League Speedway
A weaker league should mean other number 1’s have moved up so he could well be a fine no.1. This is a DEVELOPMENT league so it isn't ALL about winning. You certainly can have your own opinion but mine is you aren't very clued up on the individuals concerned , Phillips is still in his 20’s! , and Im very glad you’re not local. -
Which means what ?

Am I ‘ privileged inner circle ‘ as I paid for a ticket to be at the event ? , just like you had the chance too ! Every bears fan that could be bothered to find out knew within an hour , either through direct access to social media or by asking someone who lives in the modern era . Even the 80 year old owners of the club have a mobile phone ! Your on this site so I think your telling a few porkies as you just want to moan.

Do averages fit ? -
Think Theo is a bit old now and sticking to Long Track and Frank Spencer , ( ooh Betty ) might be in the NDL side but not ready for the Bears yet.

Middlesbrough Tigers 2025
Fortythirtyeight replied to Fortythirtyeight's topic in National League Speedway
His Dad put on Facebook that he didn’t have a team in the championship or NDL , which is incredible as I thought he was a good prospect . I think his point scoring proves he is ready for a championship reserve spot, he’s too good for NDL only. -
Middlesbrough Tigers 2025
Fortythirtyeight replied to Fortythirtyeight's topic in National League Speedway
My apologies but I just hadn't seen him ride in the second halfs at Redcar. Didnt Dayle Wood beat just about everybody ? -
Well the Tigers are confirmed for 2025 so let’s start the guessing game on the team. Trigger has announced he isn’t in it, Don’t expect Mulford to be in the NDL and Hocanuik has retired already and I doubt Ward will reappear as he has possible options closer to his home. That leaves local lad Phillips as the no.1 elect. Rathbone might fancy the Workington option as he lives there but could double up with just Jamie Halder remaining. The NJL side doesn’t have any immediate replacement as Katie Gordon was rarely seen last season after being announced as the no.8 and young McTear isnt upto speed yet. Kyran Lyden is an obvious choice as a Middlesbrough lad but I’m told he doesn’t seem to be in favour having chosen to ride at Edinburgh. Luke Muff was a regular in the second halfs and he would certainly liven the pits up. Former Cub Laylen Richardson although a Workington lad might fancy this NDL - Trophy doubling up ? Theres a lad up the road, Oliie Booth, but he doesn’t seem to ride much at Redcar . Elliot Kelly to reappear ? After that I’m struggling for names although the Bears reserve(s) might feature ? Any suggestions KK62 ?

Two National Leagues in 25
Fortythirtyeight replied to Speedway fan's topic in National League Speedway
You must be a promoter as thats as confusing as your first post. So Kent have to find seven riders who don't actually ride for anyone else ? and are of a reasonable standard to ride at NDL level……the reason the suggestion that riders ride in both leagues is that there isnt enough riders in the first place. I think this is why fans are leaving the sport, its just too confusing ! -
Two National Leagues in 25
Fortythirtyeight replied to Speedway fan's topic in National League Speedway
As its two different leagues , the NDL and the ‘ Trophy League’ , using the same riders please explain how you expected Kent to enter both ? Same applies to your Kings Lynn statement, why would an established NDL team drop into the ‘Trophy’ league and make the NDL league one team short ? Or am I missing something ? ( speedway now confuses the hell out me with riders riding for two or more clubs, clubs running three teams and rules that aren't rules for some but are for others ). -
SGB Championship 2025 - Confirmed Signings
Fortythirtyeight replied to Kerryxo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Try reading the previous post… “Every other thread in the Championship section is for opinions, rumours as well as facts official or common knowledge. This is the only thread for confirmed signings.” -
Which means absolutely nothing these days, just a nice loan fee for doing nothing.
