Is that the league above Lawson and Toby was in? Has much changed as of course Poole always had Dane’s in their team, Pedersen Anderson Klindt, is that definitely a dealbreaker? I guess it rules out him doubling up in the UK which is probably what would’ve needed to happen. Either way plenty of 5pointers out there if that was the plan, just about getting the right one and more importantly the dominos falling in place

Not that I’ve seen, but with Masters Killeen and Brennan that’s already a huge chunk of points, someone I think said there’s another big rider signing, I think Howarth was mentioned? So I think it was more just assumed he wouldn’t fit. As 99% of things on here are, it’s just rumours or guesses

Average wise I agree, in speedway it’s all about signing riders who can put points on their average, Slater could get near 6. Where as Kyle would likely be around 5

If both was in the team, and it was Lawson Rushen Cairns Kennet Newman, and then I’ll put Harrison in there as his name has popped up plenty, there would be 5.16 left for the last rider, which does mean you open the door a new 5pointer slotting in the team, does mean no Slater as I wouldn’t expect Poole to start so far under the limit, although I’d expect Slater to have an average above a 5 come the end of the season. i assume Landon would be a 4? Beau is always the dream option on a 5 and Matt Ford did say he almost signed as Bowes replacement.

I’d of thought with them being that close they could find ways to get what’s needed and even take out a small loan? In the grand scheme of things it sounds silly to miss a year over an amount they could likely raise during the months before tapes up through sponsors, events and hopefully a grant or loan from the higher ups? Lets hope they’re at the tapes and get some good news soon

I’d be very happy with Newman coming back and you’re right in that he’d be a candidate to be captain, although if the club have to pick between riders of a similar ave like Rushen Newman Kennet Mcdiarmid Harrison and even the ones not rumoured Poole way, you’d have to say that he’s the least likely to put points on his average. Even if he is the best round Wimborne RD out of all riders on a 4.5/6 average. Decisions like these are why I’m glad I have no input on what’s done!

Often always cheap/free lodging at Middlos for any one, with him being at Northampton aswell, Wednesday race nights may suit him, I think these young riders need more races, only need to look at Zach Ben Tom and see that their best prem averages came when they were winning races for fun in the champ. If Oxford are doing their rumoured very very top heavy, maybe they had the choice between Killeen and Mitch and chose Killeen, rather than it being Mitch’s decision not to return

Zach has confirmed he will not be back next season. Big shame but what a sensational rider he’s been for the last 5 years

My main fear with this team is of course the lack of power at 3 and 5. Ever since Poole have been in the championship they’ve always had 2 or even 3 riders capable of riding at number 1. I’m slightly surprised at Mitch’s average, whenever I’ve seen him at Poole I’ve been impressed, but then Bowes also looked fast round Poole. I wonder if they’d swap Mitch and Slater out for 2 5point riders with the hope that they find a world beater, like Basso and Nagel were. But issue there is it could back fire like Glasgows did this year. if it’s the 1-7 above it’s an exciting young team, and I think Danny would be right in that on paper it’s not favourites but if they all progress like they can, then who knows.

I won’t because I don’t think there is one! I simply believe that the cooks are better riders than Lawson, but I can certainly agree that in the championship Lawson is the more reliable rider.

Agree with McDiarmid But I do think Ben and Zach are the better rider to Lawson, and probably a better captain than Lawson. Lawson more reliable especially away, but Ben before he left and Zach last year were out performing Lawson

I agree with you in that id have Ben back in heartbeat, can’t see it tho. I also believe his ave would be the new converted prem one rather than his old one? So it would be 9.93

Not being favourites makes me think we’ve either got a couple unknown riders, or we’ve grabbed someone on a super high average like Picko or maybe Chris Holder? Maybe coming to the end of his career and wants to double up in the UK? his average would be slightly higher than Picko but Scunthrope showed if you get the rest of the team right it might not matter? With Kennet capable of putting 2 points in his ave and maybe a Nagel type signing(5point signing) Poole wouldn’t have too long of a tail

Spot on, hopefully it’s Lawson and Zach back at 1 and 5 as they’ve shown they can do business and they’ll be a great match up against the top Pair of Masters and Brennan next season. Then it’s all about getting the rest of the team right. Based on the Top heavy looking Oxford side, we won’t match their heatleader power so it’s down to getting the right middle order and reserves

I do agree, I can recall plenty of times of Lawson slowing to allow Thompson past, but this year wasn’t the same dominant Lawson of usual.

Will is a great young rider, yes he’s a character but that’s a good thing? Speedway needs more characters as it’s bums on seats. I’m not saying he’s playing the villain part like Niki Pedersen did but even if he did? We should be building up and supporting Will Cooper Jody and even Luke. As them 4 are probably leading the charge as the future of British Speedway.
