If Starke (3.7) and Kerr (7.07) were to make way, totaling to 10.77, and Carins comes in on a 2 does that not leave 8.77 for the pirates to play with? That would leave the pirates a few options like Ben Cook(should be back on the bike in a month and maybe looking for more meetings to get himself fit and make up for lost time/ earnings) and even Scott Nicholls if he’s recovered and not retired
-
I’d be tempted to, but it would need to have another rider making way to make it worth while, spend the extra couple points to upgrade the team elsewhere. Whether that be Ritchings Kerr or Thompson. Although there’s a chance that Cairns will make the team challengers on his own if it is the expected straight swap
-
Pirates should over turn the deficit however if they start slow like they have been then maybe Plymouth could be out of sight and Poole will run out of heats. Big meeting for Starke Kerr and Cook, have been poor in recent meetings for Poole and need to show up. Poole could hit 60 with ease if they ride like they can
-
Cook Kerr Starke continue to struggle but much improved from Toby which helps keep the scores close enough, that Gate 4 was horrible for anyone who had to use it. Should be fine to over turn the deficit, Cook usually rides Poole like a heat leader and Starke should be less rubbish at Poole. Lewi still struggling but not for the lack of trying.

Morris is mid July I think. Not sure about Scott

Berwick v Poole Championship 17/05/25 7pm

Nice to see Kerr grab a couple wins and to go round C-Cook in his last few rides. Starke clearly feeling the affects of his heat 3 crash. Hope he recovers fast. Do think Poole still lack at reserve. Last few years they’ve been built on having 1 strong reserve(if not 2) I do think Cairns will make this Poole team competitive with the Glasgows Oxford and Redcarr lineups I do think there could be a chance of 2/3 changes when Cairns is available if Starke and Kerr still don’t hit the heights we’d of expected -

Had Starke not of fallen off on the last bend of heat 14 Poole would’ve stolen a draw and a crack at the stupid heat -

To throw a 5-1 into a 2-4 in heat 14 is a fitting way for Poole end this northern trip. we’ve rode our luck with opposing riders making errors and bike mechanicals when they’ve been leading. -

Would Ben and Tom be on Reassessed averages? Would surprise me if they were and would certainly make them unobtainable -

Hats of to Sam Hagon. His decline last year was strange. Went from beating everyone when he was at reserve. Then became the u21 champion. He then lost all speed and confidence and was a passenger in the Poole team for the last couple months last year -

So slow. Didn’t expect this when he was signed. I thought he would be a good do the job rider. He’s been poor -
POOLE V SCUNTHORPE, WEDS 14TH MAY 2025.

Good win from the pirates. Lawson fantastic as always and allowing Anders through for the 15point max Thompson got better as the night went on Rowe 15 point max, immense from him whether he was out from the gate or coming from the back Kerr looked a bit more like we’d expect from him tonight, great pass in heat 14 and hopefully that’ll do his confidence the world of good. Zach worked hard all night, didn’t look his fastest but certainly did the job in his first meeting at 5 Starke was same old really, battled hard all night Ritchings is a huge improvement, fantastic ride in heat 12 to get the better of Kennedy, even if he hadn’t of scored a point tonight it was clear to see that he’s the type of number 7 you’d want. Fighting for points and never giving up -
To be honest the league isn’t at the standard of having riders of Ben Cook and Tom Brennan anymore, those 2 are above the championship hence why they have moved on, I would say Sam Masters is also above the championship but perhaps doesn’t want to ride too much abroad
-
I really don’t get the over reaction for Poole replacing their number 7. They gave Marson the chance and he just isn’t on the pace of the other riders. So they have now given the opportunity of riding for the club to someone else? yes it’s an early change but Marson didn’t show any fight or improvement. poole stuck by Perry as he was often on the pace and showed some improvement, sadly Perry was always very poor coming out the tapes. Poole then brought in Foord who played a huge part in winning the league. Poole don’t ride to make up the numbers. They ride to win.

Poole vs Oxford BSN 07/05/25
ASpeedwayfan replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poor from Poole and well done to Oxford. Kerr continues to disappoints as does Starke. Surely there’s a better rider in the national league than Marson. He’s no where near the pace. And I don’t see him beating an opposing rider unless that rider hits the deck. Hugely disappointed that Masters was allowed to move at the start of the all important heat 15. Blatantly moved and all of us in the stand saw it, could not believe the ref didn’t put his red lights on as Masters then made the gate. Shocking from the ref but a deserved loss from the 4 man team pirates -

Oxford are no doubt stronger with Heeps not riding but shouldn’t be enough to beat Poole on the night I expect it to be close but the pirates to always be in control. You would think Masters will need to go unbeaten for Oxford to have any chance. Which could happen, he would do well to beat all of Lawson Rowe Zach and Kerr in one meeting tho. But Masters does get a guaranteed race win in heat 8! Also a chance for Kerr to show what he can do in what should be a big home crowd. -
It certainly doesn’t have the same ring to it that the Cardiff GP has to it
-
I do agree that a multi round would increase the chance of a surprise and deserved winner, could have 3 rounds spread out across the UK, Poole/ Oxford one round, Glasgow for a round and then the Finale at Manchester. Lambert if he’s riding might win or it’ll be Bewley, unless Brennan can provide a shock? Realistically they are fighting for 3rd spot as that’ll be who gets to be the wildcard to the GP
-
Lewi Kerr finishes 5th in the semi final and qualifies for the British Final, which I believe Richard Lawson has pulled out of

Plymouth v Poole BSN, Sat 26/04/25
ASpeedwayfan replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole were 2nd best last night, Kerr had a shocker yes but that is speedway, it wasn’t for the lack of effort that he only scored 2 points. Luckily the meeting shouldn’t matter as a home win against Oxford will see Poole through. Far too early to judge riders. Come the next few weeks is when it’s fair to see how riders and teams are getting on
