Over the moon wasn't convinced he'd want to be back tbh James and max will do as the second strings for sure... need to see what the average limit is now and then we can focus on some proper heat leaders
-
Does it come in on a 4.00 or a 5.00? Could be quite a bargain if you ask me...
-
Any other club puts a line-up that weak out, there'd be a meeting and potential fine soon after... Scunthorpe do it, I bet there's nowt...
-
I love watching Josh Pickering and Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen was the same also, only on a 6.34 average too, if we can prise him away from Berwick There's 2 riders I'd pay to watch on their own... Josh Pickering and Nico Covatti... Hope we see the latter back in British speedway next season

The random Speedway heat thread (no spoilers)!

Goes to show that Brough DOES produce good racing, and I don't understand why it gets so much hate... -
I would love to see something like this, now that I've gotten over the rose tinted view of the end of last season, can't see Adam, Connor (or Max tbh) being back unfortunately, so they need to be replaced by good options. Assuming Matty Wethers is retiring then: 1. Danny King - Big out and out number 1 who knows and rides the track well 2. Max Clegg - Brilliant number 2, especially at home, hope he improves on some of the bigger away tracks 3. James Wright - Experienced number 3, can hold that position in a good team imo 4. Paul Starke - 110% trier and rode brilliantly for us when guesting last season, rides Brough very well too 5. Richie Worrall - Solid performer, one of the better number 5s in the league, also knows the track very well 6. Jack Thomas - Seems to have came on a lot last season and will be one of the stronger rising stars 7. Archie Freeman - Local hero and was getting closer to the pace each meeting last season, no pressure on him in this team I have built this team with 2 rising stars at reserve and the 1-5 to a limit of 35, just a guess at what may or may not happen, but I love the look of that team, solid all the way through, all British and all lads who give their all on track. The only one I would swap out would be Richie, leaving 8.69 to play with at a 35 point limit, so take your pick from any of the heat leaders last season (Charles Wright, Josh Pickering, Kyle Howarth, Chris Harris) Hope we put a competitive team out...

We all know who owns the team he's (Palin) likely to sign for though

Just taken me a good 15 minutes to read it, but I must agree, cracking post, and thank you very much THJ for all the hard work you have and do put in to the club... It would be nice if all of us with Diamonds in our lives could group up and work together as a team to make this club the best in the country Onto 2022 where I will be putting my financial support in, whether "The Promotion" want it or not Cheers everyone There's only 2 in that team who I'd want in my team, and I think they both will be, Archie and obviously James Steve, Richie - Been there, done that, need some refreshing faces Simon - Brilliant rider, just not at Brough, no thanks Kasper - Would be amazing, but I feel he'll be elsewhere Danny - Think that would anger more people than please people, and we need a strong reserve to go with Archie, not a level one, I'm thinking a Jack Thomas as a minimum... Connor if he's eligible?

If Gilkes and Palin are both allowed as rising stars in the same team it will be criminal... -
If I could go... I'd love to, but I'm at work best of luck to all there and fingers crossed something good comes from the meeting... looking forward to hearing

It's a shame the Development Leagues were destroyed for the Premier Junior League, which never happened -
I thought they were changing the start times for gps to 7pm? With open practise and qualifying in the morning (12 I think)
-
Don't think any of them will qualify as a reserve tbh, but who knows what the rules will be next year... All 3 are over 5 point riders

Using this season's rules/team limits (Which I know won't be the same next year) This fits... I haven't accounted for a 2.5% reduction for Jordan and the averages aren't final, but it's interesting to see what is possible... Also, if you wanted Dan Gilkes at reserve, swap Josh for Ryan Kinsley (3.00) and then you could have up to a 3 Star reserve, which I believe Dan will be next season 1. Ryan Douglas 8.04 2. Simon Lambert 5.98 3. Jake Allen 7.72 4. Jordan Palin 5.84 5. Thomas Jorgensen 7.28 6. Josh MacDonald 4.00 7. 2 Star Reserve (Not Dan Gilkes) -
Will the FIM announce is exactly 6 days before? Or will they announce it as soon as they sign off the squad? It's the shape more than anything I can see him trying one of his dive bomb manoeuvres down the back straight and ending up in the overflow car park I don't think there'll be any racing at Brough this year anymore, after all the shale people took on the track walk
-
I have a couple teams put together which I'd love to see, it's just dependent on the points limit and what the rules with the 2 rising stars are going to be next season? Be interesting to see what happens... 15.5 points isn't a lot for your 2, 3, 4... Also Archie would be a 2* on this year's rules, as he has now had CL experience, BUT that currently makes no difference to the team building limit
-
Archie is a young 16/17 year old raw talent and a local Geordie rider who has mascotted and loved the club since a very young age... I remember Archie back into 2010!! When Kenni Larsen was around, must have made him 5 years old? We have watched him before and after most meetings over the years, practising and racing in the NJL and watched him develop as a rider. Last season was very tough for young Archie, however, towards the end of the season he was getting very close to the backs of the riders in front of him, and he had a lot of bad luck along the way, falls, bike failures etc... I honestly believe, if we can build a very strong team around him, give him absolutely 0 pressure, that he could be flying by the end of next season. He's basically Newcastle speedway's child... I do however, think he needs to work on his gating (which was noticeably better by the end of the season) and his anger (which understandably I guess, came out a few times last year too) Archie is a good little prospect who could be very good within the next 3 or 4 years... Same goes for Danny Smith, on a slightly lesser scale, we need to utilise him, if we haven't already lost him? Another rider who has impressed me, considering how little time he has ridden the 500s, is Jack Shimelt, already a quick looking rider around Brough and he's only been at it this year? As far as I can tell, another rider to keep an eye out for in the future...

Connor, Adam, Archie, Max and James with 2 big hitters would be the perfect team in my opinion... 1. Big Hitter 1 2. Max Clegg 3. James Wright 4. Connor Mountain 5. Big Hitter 2 6. Archie Freeman 7. Adam Roynon But of course, we don't know the team limits yet, so let's see what does and doesn't fit... Not even sure whether Max and Connor would be interested anymore?
-
I'm guessing that if a promoter leaked any rules to the fans, they would be punished...? All down to the heads of the BSPL to let us all know what's going on... Does anyone know the exact date of the AGM this year?

Yes I know, and the Eastbourne and Birmingham teams were brilliant to watch, we need more national league teams like that to help back the new blood coming through... And help support some of the middle order CL riders who are maybe down on form a little like Ashley Morris, would be a good racer to follow for the new, inexperienced kids to learn a lot from... I agree that the standard of the NL needs to be raised, however, there isn't as many talents coming through now (14-15-16 year olds) as there was 5/6 years ago unfortunately -
Thanks for the info Steve If we're waiting on the BSPL it could be sometime around next February then... Would love to see a big hitter at number 1, but someone who we've never seen in a Diamonds race jacket before, or for at least a long while... An exciting name to bring the fans back... But as Chewbacca says, it's daft to sign too many riders up until we know the rules... The only other I'd sign right now would be Max Clegg, he's a must sign rider in my eyes Hopefully our new co-promoter gets signed off by then then...
