  1. BSPL site for 2021 shows him to have had three home and one away meetings that count to a GSA, so he's going to need more than just one meeting to get an actual average
  2. He rode in the requisite ten meetings for Birmingham and his figure just happens to come out at exactly 5.00.
  3. Never had problems with him at Ashfield AFAIK. Always seems well settled here. Great signing.
  4. Cami may well be one of Claus Vissing's friends on Facebook too and possibly wouldnt be the one from the club involved in negotiating deals and terms ..... just saying.
  5. Not too much this year, previously free entry tickets, billboard advertising etc. TV advert campaign this year although the timing was all wrong, towards the end of July and saying Friday nights. There were only two Friday meetings in the next two months.
  6. Don't think so. The owners hoped that we'd getter better crowds on what was once our traditional race night and one that was possible again once floodlights had been installed.
  7. More than ever promoters need to get their pricing right. Putting up admission prices at a time domestic finances are under pressures that haven't been experienced in years is a recipe for disaster - and at a time when the Championship has been watered down. It's may be not the time to be speculating by spending heavily on advertising campaigns. I'd happily have accepted Stupid Mickey Mouse competitions to break up a completely barren couple of months. Not agreeing dates for these competitions was bordering on criminal.
  8. And there lies the problem. We have a standard that we can't afford. Championship Riders should be semi professional and certainly shouldn't have paid mechanics. Riders were paid £1 a point in the Provincial League in 1964. This equates to about £25 at today's prices. On this basis £90 sounds too much. Riders were semi professional, all but the top men had day jobs. All riders just had one bike. If it blew then they used the track spare or were out for the night.
  9. Our problem has been the lack of heat winners away from home. 2019 was our best season and with a bit of luck we could have won the play offs and that was the year we had three strong heat leaders - Cook, Rasmus Jensen and Vissing. Teams that do well in the play offs usually have a strong top three.
  10. I thought the racing was good at Shawfield even when racking up big scores as we had racers like Mick Powell and Jesper Olsen so it wasn't from the gate. Ashfield is a good track and is there to be raced on but interestingly Justin Sedgmen commentating on the BSN stream during one of the many gaps in racing at the abortive Poole meeting reckoned with the banking it took a bit of getting used to but once dialled in you had a good home advantage. Possibly this explains why we again have good racing and big home wins. Don't think there's anything to fear with the new points system. When used in the past the aggregate bonus point had little or no effect on the league champions. From memory only Exeter benefited from it ...and just once. In any case with the play offs it's a bit of an irrelevance.
  11. What are the current rules about getting a "proper" average, as opposed to an assessed one? Is it still 4H and 4A?
  12. Redcar had the right approach doing the "big bang" and announcing the entire team at once. Make a big night of it. Seem to remember us doing it at a STARS night at Hampden - and that was our league winning side!
  13. Different figure show different things. The gap between his home and away averages is concerning, considering he wasn't at number one for any of them.
  14. A whole array of averages to quote from. 9.08 seems to be the GSA figure including BPs as shown on the BSPL website, the figure excluding BPs is 8.33 - lower than the 8.52 used for team building purposes. His season long average, based on 18 meetings comes in at 7.85 or 8.59 if you include BPs. His home averages are shown as 8.89 and 9.60 while his away figures are a less impressive 6.56 and 7.33. Take your pick !
  15. What figure do you have for Connor Bailey? 4.43 less Brit reduction takes him to 4.32 which doesn't fit. Harris 8.75, Basso 8.52, Brennan 6.70, Pijper 2.00 and 2 @ 5.00 = 35.97, so only 4.03 left. Needs to be a 4.00 rider.
  16. Riding at number five is no different to riding at number one. You meet the same opponents and race in heat 13. It was moving out of the easier number four position that was Bens problem in the latter meetings this season.
  17. There are large intra company payments/receipts between Tigers, Ashfield Allied, Tigers parent company , and Allied Vehicles so could possibly include notional rent.
  18. Are you sure we don't "pay" Ashfield Allied , our parent company.
  19. 8.35 is insufficient to accommodate Harris (8.98 less Brit Reduction of 0.22 makes him 8.75). Even if Theo Pijper qualifies for a reduction his 4.32 still doesnt create enough room for the decidedly unwanted Harris. Anyone know of Theo's status?
  20. Remember Bernie Lacrosse beating Ivan Mauger in the second half at The White City. Sadly he never repeated this form. It is to be hoped that Ace is shown the same patience as BobbyBeaton got in his first season.
  21. Seemed to work ok for Poole this season.
