  1. Not great at updating fixtures either. Our KO Cup meeting at Redcar on May 19 has been on the BSPL fixture list for four or five days but nothing has come out from our people either on FB or the official website.
  2. Sorry to burst your bubble but Glasgow have with held information quite a few times before... and none of the other meetings were rained off.
  3. The current trend seems to be to delay any negative news until the last minute with team line ups not being publicised until the afternoon. In this case the rain off meant they never had to reveal that the Danes were missing. Official FB posts went out of their way to avoid any mention - write up highlighted Chris Harris, Tom Brennan, Sam Masters, Scott Nicholls only and while there were plenty of photos there were none of Ben or Claus; its poor that we need to rely on fans "in the know" to keep us informed.
  4. Yesterday was only a minor problem for Glasgow and their supporters. However a repeat of the Berwick abandonment would have caused far greater damage. Another mid meeting postponement resulting in fans having paid £32 for just 12 heats racing or if it went to heat ten then £36 for 16 races. It was a chance the promotion were right not to take.
  5. The upset over the Berwick abandonment was down to the really poor discount given. While ithe terms are clearly laid down, they are a huge rip off and for many supporters this was the first time they have been invoked. This needs to be reviewed nationally for next year. Leicester were determined not to race that night though the track staff felt sure they could have sorted the track. It was down to them and there was no reason for the promotion to have called the meeting off earlier in the day The Poole abandonment was down to the Glasgow promotion who simply didn't like the way the meeting was going and pushed for an abandonment. Possibly this was why they offered a full refund, something of a precedent that set supporter expectations which were dashed after the Berwick call off. Surely home fans don't need to be told of call offs until early afternoon, so you can let things ride until then to see how the weather is going to turn out. Sadly away fans are becoming a dying breed with the non refundable costs incurred for rained off meetings.
  6. As you say, it is the correct decision bearing in mind the Berwick upset, however it sets a bit of a precedent for the future. Dont think we can always postpone meetings in this way.
  7. Good luck at Scunthorpe tonight but were you aware of the supporter unrest following Glasgow's recent heat six abandonment and the £4 discount that was given? Some supporters vowed not to come again on a night when the forecast was poor - like tonight. May be Glasgow have made a rod for their own back but that's the path we seem to be going down.
  8. You want to put up a radar photo for 19.15 when the blue/ green blob will be over Springburn, just before tapes up. It's irrelevant where it's clear or not at 10pm, the damage will have been done earlier
  9. Are you sure? https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2637197
  10. Ray Cresp rode for St Austell in 1963 then West Ham in 1964, while Sam for Levai was with Stoke then Norwich.
  11. Agree with you and at both bends - two and four. Our bends are a bit square and riders hit the fence just beyond the air fence - Luna and Rajkowski spring to mind. I mentioned this some years ago on FB and got a rather sour reply saying the way it was had been passed by the track inspectors.
  12. Well the BSPL listing shows it! Who gave them the details?
  13. Indeed! Well spotted it's May 12 not that it changes anything. BTW Poole have a 75th Anniversary meeting on Aug 30.
  14. Tigers are at Scunthorpe on Friday May 13 and the two following Fridays are surely blank for KO Cup quarterfinal and (hopefully) BSN semi-final meetings. Problems will arise if/when fellow Friday night tracks are our opponents. Redcar look likely to beat Berwick in the Cup. Less certain but still possible is that Poole, Redcar, Scunthorpe and ourselves are the BSN semifinalists. Unless we get Poole then another Friday nighter in the BSN. In contrast Poole only have May 17 and June 28 as free Wednesdays before the end of August. Not enough should they progress to the final in one or both competitions.... and this assumes no rain offs.
  15. Poole now have a number of non competition meetings -Jubilee Trophy, Swindon challenge, Worrall testimonial, 75 th anniversary meeting- in their calendar and little or no space for KO Cup and BSN semi finals, never mind rain offs. Just hope they don't mess things up for everyone else.
  16. Interesting that they ripped up the gates during the track grade prior to heat eleven when Cook was off gate one. Wonder who asked for that?
  17. Gate 4 at Wimbledon was often a gift but never as much as tonight. What does tonight's result tell us. Are Edinburgh a poor team and should Glasgow have won at Armadale a fortnight ago. Or are Berwick pretty good and Glasgow got a good win there last week? Not sure.
  18. From memory the quiz ran for just three weeks with the example shown being the middle of three and the only one to give answers to the previous weeks quiz. I'm still curious as to who came up with this quiz. Presumably Les Whaley.
  19. Anyone remember the bizarre quiz in our programme in the early weeks at Hampden in 1969? Anyone got the first clue how to solve it. Seems beyond Mensa, Only Connect etc standards. More than 50 years on and it still completely baffles me! classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/april-2023/anyone-remember-no-5
