It depends entirely on the wording of the contract which we wouldn’t know. The stadium owner could simply need approval of the new tenants and thus carrying over the rental agreement for a clean take. My point is that CL actively announced his early decision after the 2025 season to continue in 2026 and then done a U Turn later down the line. He was originally due to run this season therefore, for any proactive business sense should have already agreed a renewal for 2026 season. It also depends on if the renewal is with Ipswich speedway LTD or worded as Chris Louis, if it’s under the club name it could technically simply transfer over.
-
No because when you sign a contract it gives you a guarantee that whoever signs it will pay the committed amount, and if you fail to do so you could end up in court. It doesn’t matter who the new tenants are because if Chris Louis done a deal with Spedeworth before selling then whoever he sold the club to would have to commit to his contractual obligation within the renewal.

“The club sale had (past tense) stalled due to renewal of the track. Now this has been signed and within the next couple of weeks will be completed”. The point I made is why is it taking over 4 months to renew a contract when you knew clearly even this time last year when the renewal was needed, therefore the sale could have happened sooner. No struggle around here. Just questions of poor business decisions.

Statement with no information other than delayed due to renewal of the stadium. Don’t believe it unfortunately, the renewal would have been known about for months leading up towards this moment. If Louis was to keep the team and not sell it are we saying he still wouldn’t have named a team due to not signing a renewal contract of the stadium lease? It’s not a top secret of being owners of a speedway club so why not just announce yourself now? Whether you have a team or not.

Brennan is not our number one.
-
Jenkins signed for Ipswich then I guess after posting one of the sponsors for 2026 is Suffolk floor restore.
-
Why do people constantly put lamberts name in the mix when he already done an interview stating he isn’t coming back to British Speedway until things drastically change, I don’t think he meant for the worse either. You have more chance of the new number 1 for witches being Christina Turnbull.
-
Be ahead of the curve and maybe not go on a radio station after the season finishes and tell everyone you’re building a strong team for next year, that would have been a good start. And then over Christmas period and new years say you’ll have news a few days, then say maybe a few weeks, and then still give no statement two weeks after that statement. Mayfield yeah? Same rumours of a consortium of Ipswich die hards people wrote about here? People love a good gossip with no factual backing behind their words just look like they are actually in the know.
-
I can’t believe people are on here still second guessing what team Ipswich will have when the club has treated the fans like something off the bottom of their shoe with little updates of any significance. I’d be more inclined to say I’d boy-cot the matches if they did run than just pretend everything is rosy and play ‘guess the line-up’. This has left a massive sour taste in my mouth over Ipswich and the entire speedway scene, no updates from anyone and British speedway happy to announce rider signings as if everything is normal, if Ipswich just collapse then these signing will be for nothing for the other teams. Absolute joke. Rant over enjoy your day people!
-
I’m not so sure, Ipswich is closer for him and he said he would love to ride for Ipswich in an interview.
-
If I was Ipswich now I’d actually change it up and just go for a younger team, Brennan number one and Rew at number 5. Try to get confirmation all riders would want to stay on a few seasons and get them this season learning and being specialists for the 2027 season. I honestly believe cooper would have come to us if Louis was on board and I would have loved him in the team. Keep Tai away from the team, too many Ipswich fans he has annoyed which would affect their decision to come to any races.
-
It wasn’t in an interview it was what I was told.
-
I’d take Brennan as a number one over Tai. Keep his crappy opinions about Ipswich up north with the other NMs. Ipswich needs to keep riders who feel like they are part of the club and the feel, not people who speak badly of it. Tai and Lidsey can look somewhere else for a ride IMO.
-
This is a cold hard fact though from the horses mouth. Why would we want him at Ipswich, “Ipswich is a S hole, I hate going there like everyone else but we have to” - Lidsey

2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams

🤌 First option it was. -
Do you think it’s piss poor to not have any info on their own media website, even just an update. Last thing we heard on the website was back in Nov about selling Emil DVDs.
-
Forgive me for not believing hardly anything people write on here 😂 most people just want to feel important and in the know 😆

What a stupid comment. So what are fans supposed to do? Fans don’t buy clubs or invest in them, they support them, that’s in essence the fan doing their part.
-
Remember when he said “when the town does well then so do the witches” Well, town are now second, and the witches don’t have any riders, a league, or even a buyer. - IF the likes of Brennan, Rew, King, Edwards, Jenkins and maybe Ellis are all waiting to hear about Ipswich then how much longer can you realistically wait as a rider. Soon decisions will be made and Ipswich will eventually ride (or not) but we a depleted team and fans won’t be happy. You cannot then have comments about “at least we have speedway to watch” because Louis himself said the club will be left in safe hands and good state, I’m sorry but that will not be the case if the above happens.

Genuine question, would it be viable to build a permanent stand around the 3rd / 4th bend so that they don’t have to spend tens of thousands for the temp stand, thus improving facilities and the look of the stadium. I know lots of people (including me) have light banter across the teams we support but if it is the home of British speedway it’s in the best interest for Britain to have an even better stadium, it would complete the look too IMO, just continue the stadium around the bend to connect the two stands, or is there reason they can’t?

Play offs for promotion I understand, not for winning a league. Premier league is point and case, if you are the best over a prolonged period you deserve to be champions. That is simply facts. -

Totally understand that, my thought process would always be to run a league with no play offs, the reason the play offs bring in additional income is due to it basically being a mini tournament for the winners of the league, thus making the rest of the season void once you enter the play offs 100%. If you scrap the play offs, people surely would go the league meetings as every single match is one step closer to winning / losing the title. If a team runs away with it the supporters and other teams should just respect the fact they deserve to win it and no other team deserves a second chance (play offs) to try and it away from the most dominant team over the season. -

Surely if there are only five teams you could only do either of the two options, run the league as a championship so the final standing are the results and scrap play offs. Or if they are hell bent on some kind of play offs at least lessen it so for example 1st position gets automatically placed into the final and gets to choose where to have the first/second leg, and only 2nd vs 3rd races for a chance to play the winners of the league. I see no point in 1st-4th being placed in a play offs, personal opinion which may be an unpopular one, I don’t know everyone else’s feeling. -
If we make it into the new year and C.Louis and Ipswich speedway fail to have a buyer or provide any kind of update then it’s really time to say they have failed the fans. This kind of fiasco will overshadow last year’s triumph if they are not careful.
