I have to call you out on this one. You can’t say ‘nobody’ just because you don’t, a lot of people use this as a weekend away to see a new city, especially people from around the world and not just UK. It does make a different to have nice food / drink / build up for atmosphere. SGP is a bigger picture, it should be a festival of a weekend away, for locals who tell the story of Belle Vue being the best track and the best racing it’s something they will defend with honour, and I agree 100% it’s the best racing we have and probably will see this racing calendar. But for some people they would choose Cardiff simply because of the ‘experience’ and there isn’t a right or wrong choice because it’s people personally preference. Also to say ‘Belle Vue is the only place to watch speedway is 2025’ is pretty poor and short sighted and show that you haven’t seen much speedway elsewhere live. Everyone from Ipswich and travelling Sheffield fans would beg to differ after Thursday’s meeting which was miles better than some league meetings I’ve watched at Belle Vue. I would suggest every year for Belle Vue to have a SGP but also SGP to hold another, if possible, at a stadium in UK like London stadium (West Ham) or back to Cardiff if possible so people get a choice. Saying all of that I am very much excited for tonight’s meeting again and loved last night so I’m not hating on NSS at all. It’s a shame they couldn’t get a 5 year contract for a SGP guarantee and then use that money to join the two stadium together instead of the temp stand.

Sad to hear this! Everyone wanted to have the best evening out and stuff like this doesn’t help the fans to come back who aren’t die hard. Hope the racing made up for it for you though and you enjoyed it as much as you could! No body wants to see this fail, at the end of day whether you’re from a rival club of Belle Vue or not, this is to show how good British speedway tracks can be to the world.

Great riding last night. The first four heats had me worrying that they messed the track prep up but boy did it impress for the rest of the night! Zmarzlik couldn’t get to grips with how many lines were available at first and didn’t know where to defend when leading. Some really great racing! As an Ipswich fan you do worry about Doyle. I think he has come back way too early and couldn’t do what needed to be done with movement etc on that bike, we always knew he would try this weekend but something makes me think he is still pushing himself too hard and Madsen and Dudek would have mixed it better. My partner spoke to Emil at foxhall on Thursday after the meeting (fluent Polish so I couldn’t understand!) and she asked if any news on the SGP next year, he just said unfortunately with how the situation is that it isn’t his time at the moment and when she said it’s sad because the years are passing by he agreed and said “I know but I can’t do anything although I want to be in it”. I do hate when politics ruins sports.

Ipswich vs Sheffield Thursday 12th June

That masters score isn’t really a true reflection. He dominated pretty much every race he was in and showed classed, he was miles ahead in races and only lost out in one due to mechanical failure. He was riding just as good as Doyle and I for one would love to see him back. Pickering was riding really well before heat 15 so deffo the right choice up to that point and even then brought a hell of a race to Emil. Tonight was a showcase for speedway fans, great atmosphere, even better races with lots of moves on a warm summers evening. TNT should have been in town for that one. I’d also like to say thank you to Sheffield for bringing their A game and taking it to us making it such an exciting meeting! -

Confirmed R/R for Anders Rowe tonight. -
Also Hawkins had his comments: I know Jason is keen to do the Grand Prix this weekend, so hopefully he makes it back and is fit enough for that and comes through unscathed so he can get back racing for us very soon, but we will just have to wait and see. Dan is recovering and the bone will fix when it fixes, there is no real update on his situation.
