  1. We are going to have to have all seven right at the top of their game tomorrow with wolves carrying a few riders to even have a sniff, cant see it happening to be honest, in fact I think wolves could even have a chance of a double as its possible we could be that fired up we actually over ride. Appears cookie is the only one to be able to handle the pressures of these play off finals.
  2. Why would anyone ask for refunds? You support a team win or lose, plus the racing on the wide open spaces should be superb.
  3. Its not as if Woofinden banged in 13 or 14 either was it? The NSS will certainly suit him much better, we need to be 110% up for it weds, have the speed and the determination. Fricke and Jacobs will certainly score far more at home, Zagar we can all but hope. Even though i think we,re doomed Captain Mannering if they can put 54 past us down there why cant we do likewise up here?
  4. Ive said for a while that when it comes down to it you wont win the big meetings with a misfiring number 1 Zagar is just not reliable, Fricke should have come into this meeting with his confidence way up after saturday and no excuse that he cant ride small tracks after Edinburgh and Kirky Lane, Jacobs has been superb at home but apart from swindon has been as poor away from home. I remember pullin back 22 points at Hyde road against Exeter one season cant see that happening on weds tbh. The bottom line is like last season the pressure appears to have got to them, they have been brilliant all season but come the big meetings and i fear that winning mentality isnt there, they dont appear to handle the pressure. So a packed NSS and sadly its looking like an anti climax, its disappointing to top the table and then to put in a showing like tonight. All you can do Is congratulate Wolves and hope theres some terriffic racing for the tv viewers on weds night. One other thing when Tai gave his WTC medal away he said it meant nothing to him which at the time i thought demeaned it for the other lads, so surely a title winning medal cant mean much to him after giving the whole season a miss just to come in on the back of the other Wolves lads success? Just a thought.
  5. We need to keep it close tonight as I think pulling back any deficit at the NSS will be a harder task than at the dog track. I think weve looked a more solid unit away from home. We have had to dig deep in many home meetings as the opposition just love the place. It could come down to which reserves perform the best on their own track.
  6. The score belies the racing, Lakeside gave it a go and contributed to some good action, Bridger,s win after a great four lap battle with the Worralls being the pick of the bunch. Rob Branford was on the pace and deserved his race win. The Aces all came to the party and the determination was 100%, we need them to all replicate this over the two legs in the final, that wont be easy against a formidable Wolves side. Both teams ride each others track well so not much advantage there, really hope we can finish the season off now, the final is too close to call.
  7. Win or lose the final if we get there im glad we kept with our original 1-7 throughout the season, no ringers, no dodgy average lowering for injured riders no strange disappearing reserves, just good old fashioned principal and integrity. Up The Aces
  8. If the Hammers are on it it could be a tricky first leg for the Aces a potential banana skin and as we have seen any team can come to the NSS and do well. I certainly wont be counting my chickens. Also like to say i always enjoy my visits to Lakeside, ive seen some cracking racing our last meeting there being a prime case, also like the people there a friendly bunch.
  9. I know injuries loss of form play a part but im happy Belle Vue are finishing the season with the same seven riders they started with, it would have been easy to replace Joe early doors for example but we stuck with him and he turned it round. It might cost us in the play off but im glad we stuck to our principles rather than bring in a ringer for the business end of the season.
  10. I get that but if theres no cancellation announcement i would presume the meeting to be on.
  11. I don't think any track give weather updates when its been hot, dry, and sunny, everywhere was bone dry when I got up at 5am after the storm.
  12. I think Belle Vue will go all out to deny Swindon a point Wednesday preferring to pick Lakeside in a semi final. Swindon would be dangerous over two legs and we performed quite well on our last visit to purfleet, add to that the Hammers are the one team not to really push us at home and that choice would make sense. As we normally ride Wolves pretty well we would probably have a better chance keeping the score close there and giving ourselves a better chance over two legs rather than Poole where generally we don't perform as well. Either way if Zagar dosent start riding as a true No1 it wont much matter who we race, you wont win the title with a misfiring top man.
  13. Just hope its a great meeting for the people watching on TV. Strange one that Lisa, every time I come down to Dorset the people I have met have been a friendly bunch.
  14. I was also wondering if cash flow might have been hit by any legal issues ongoing surrounding the opening night, David Gordon had mentioned about action being taken due to losses being incurred, if that was the case the culmination of any compensation could change things.
  15. Personally if Tai Woffinden does not want to ride for Team GB that's up to him and whilst we will be missing a top rider im not overly bothered, I will get behind the lads who are willing to pull the body colour on and give their best, if his reason was about money why not just come out and say so? Whatever the reason theres no point having someone in the team wether it be speedway, football, or any other sport who does not want to be there. I wonder if Gareth Bale would expect to earn twice as much as his team mates playing for Wales as hes twice the player of any other member of the Welsh side? At the euros he appeared more than happy mucking in with his less talented team mates.
  16. Very true the fans are in the hands of the promoters and looking at crowd numbers the fans are rebelling.
  17. To be fair Belle Vue have always had the competition of United, City, Salford RL, and numerous other lower league teams to compete with when we were at Hyde Road. The crowds there for speedway were like many other tracks in those days excellent but there again the product was far better than the dysfunctional EL that we have today. Our promotion could learn from the nearby velodrome, another modern purpose built stadium but that is far better promoted. A night out at the cycling is always a sell out, its reasonable to get in, the food/drink is more fairly priced and you can also take in your own if need be, good racing and a fast moving programme of around 3-31/2 hours so you actually feel you've had value for money. Rider availability throught the night for the kids and no gestapo spoiling the enjoyment for people. If we can start to also produce speedway riders for GB at a fraction of what is coming through cyclings stars of the future programme that would be a big boost for the sport. It would be a travesty if having delivered a magnificent stadium/track a lack of promoting meant the club failed to capitalize on this chance of a bright new start. I get what Steves saying but perhaps a better example than Poole would be whats Happening up at Glasgow, another major city with alternate attractions that is going from strength to strength thanks to the canny business acumen of the Faccena brothers.
  18. Apart from Joe Jacobs that was a well below par abject performance. Kings Lynn were never really in any danger tonight, they rode well and deserved their win easily the best team. Actually i think we look a more solid unit away from home, in a lot of the meetings weve won at home we havent really looked a dominant force, as Leicester proved a few weeks back any team can come to Manchester and have a good chance of getting a result. Theres no doubt we will see far better racing than we have for many a season but the price for that will be opponents that love riding the track pushing us to the limit. Ive thought all season that come play off time we will struggle against other sides top end as we have a mis firing number one who you wouldnt back against the likes of Woffinden, Lindgren, Jonsson, or Holder. These type of results can have one of two effects, it galvanises the team to kick on and become stronger in the following matches or it bursts the bubble and a team can tail off. Only time will tell.
