AGM started today and runs through to Thursday apparently. Sorry if my previous post was a bit of a rant, but I just feel that not involving the fans in decision making is a missed opportunity to promote and grow the sport. After all we all have a vested interest in the AGM decisions, not just the owners & promoters.
-
So when and where do we the fans actually get to hear the outcomes of the AGM? Have to ask the question why aren't we the main supporters of the sport, given a bit more respect about the way it's run, it feels to me like the promoters/owners treat us with a fair amount of contempt, to my mind all the matters of the AGM should be in the public domain and scheduled, with the outcomes publicised on a set date.

Well Tobias + Vinnie + a 2 would work for a 40 total
-
So Dan Thompson will not be at Plymouth next year, what are the chances of him signing up for Poole? Anybody heard any rumours?

SGB Championship 2025 - Confirmed Signings
Bitza replied to Kerryxo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's some bet, I'm impressed. So what's your prediction for which championship club Dan Thompson will ride for in 25? -
I too wonder about Cairns, is he really everything he's cracked up to be? How riders respond to a step up is never predictable, man amongst boys - boy amongst men etc. Think back to the contrast between Max Perry's and Vinnie's response to Championship competition. I wish Cairns all the best, but it's not a forgone conclusion that he's going to do great things.

While it would be great to have Bomber, finding, the right reserves then becomes critical. At the end of the day points won by reserves are worth exactly the same as those of the lead riders. I see it's official that Tom Brennan will not be at Poole for 2025.
-
Well great news, but very predictable. He has ridden best when his big bro isn't around, but will need to develop further in 2025 if Pirates are to enjoy silverware success in 2025. When will we get to hear about the rest of the team for 2025?! and the team average total limit?
-
I see Tom Brennan has signed for Vastervik for 2025 in Sweden.

Poole V Oxford. KO Cup Final. 16/17 October 2024
Bitza replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Now my post wasn't a fully researched resolved proposal, more a suggestion that there might be an alternative. But there is a more serious point, as it is something that Poole Pirates fans should be considering NOW before Wimborne Road becomes unavailable and another speedway club disappears into the ether. -

No chance actually in Poole but there is an existing small track (Colesseum like) Matcham Raceway out Ringwood way, with development potential. I think the idea has legs, for a community stroke fan led facility. -
Has the team limit been set? If so what is it? If not when will it be set?

Seems to me like it would be a really good idea, to have some kind of international team match. Maybe uk league champs vs Polish or Danish equivalent for the last match of the season. -
Sam's fall in form was quite pronounced and has continued over a fair period now. A winter in Aus may restore matters, whatever the issue is I think it's in his head and I'm sure he would disagree which is a problem. On balance I feel that he's a gamble.
-
Here's a thought, why not have Max Perry back to be replaced by Cairnes. It would be a bit of a shop window opportunity for him to show how he has progressed, he's familiar with the set up etc?
-
Pity to see Ben moving on, but the upside is that Zac seems to up his game when his big bro isn't around. Making him Captain would be a shrewd move too, good for his confidence and good for the team.
-
Tobias is another good value rider. Maybe not my rider of the playoffs, but has made a valuable contribution, was probably the only rider still up for a tussle later on last night.
-
Yup a good value (potential /GSA) rider. Re Tom I heard it suggested that he would be interested in riding for Poole in 25 average cap allowing. Otherwise he'll give the Championship a miss.

Well that's a shame but understandable in the circumstances. So it'll be two Cheetahs and five guests not the kind of contest anyone wanted, but just hoping that there will be some interesting racing. It's the last meeting of the season whatever, so let's just have a bit of fun and enjoy. -

All this over the word "interesting", take a deep breath, move on and keep a bit of dignity. -

Went via Bing to check out Oxford Speedway website, on the summary bit for OS it shows a picture of Wimborne Rd bit odd, their favourite track maybe? The other odd thing is that there is no preview for the KO 2nd leg on their website. -

Re Luke's fitness, the earliest he could have a 12 day medical is tomorrow surely, bearing in mind his off was in the evening. So he can't be feeling too bright. -
Heard the result of the pairs final UK bronze congratulations to the young trio, mind you the heavy lifting was by our(till Wednesday anyway) Tom Brennan. Well it made me think how lucky we've been having him as a Pirate for 2024. The top people in any sport are always two steps up on the people who are just very good, and Tom has the potential to be a top rider. I guess what I'm saying is that winning the triple this year would be a great achievement, but winning the triple in 2025 with Kerr or Thompson would be an even greater achievement.
-
Yup I'd go with that, Kerrs and Thompson pretty comparable although the latter has more potential I'm thinking.
