  1. Seems it could be to do with visas, hence administrative rather than financial. Check out the Worky 2025 thread for more info.
  2. Sad news. RIP Mike. Master of his craft. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
Within the last 48 hours the Directors of British Speedway Promoters Ltd have become aware of administrative issues that must be resolved before Workington Speedway can compete again. A seven-day suspension of membership has been imposed to give them time to overcome these issues. Said BSP Chairman, Rob Godfrey: โ€œWe are happy with the progress being made by the Club in sorting these issues and I anticipate that there will be a speedy resumption to racing at Workington.โ€ The suspension does mean that Workingtonโ€™s matches at Berwick on June 28, Oxford on July 2 and Redcar on July 4 will be postponed.
  4. The Beddington Lane site comes under Croydon Council. But, given their current financial plight, accepting donations will still be a major issue! ๐Ÿ˜‰
  5. As I said, they already have go-karts and motocross there so noise shouldn't be an issue if it is the Beddington Lane site. And it's mainly industrial round there.
  6. Surbiton Raceway is a good shout but I don't think there is much spare land there to accommodate what they have planned. The only other place I can think of which does have additional land is where Traq Motor Racing go-karts are on the Mitcham/Croydon border on Beddington Lane. Not only does it have go-karts but a motocross track as well.
  7. The front cover of this week's Speedway Star has just been released. One of the headlines is 'Wimbledon...New hope for Dons revival.' MUST. STAY. CALM. My heart is racing just thinking that this could happen. I never thought I would potentially see us return in my lifetime, and tomorrow can't come soon enough to read about it.
  8. Turnbull pulls howlers for fun and has added another to her lengthy repertoire. DEI in all its shameful glory. ๐Ÿคฌ
  9. Neither am I. As soon as he was backing off going into turn one, lap one, you knew this wasn't bike problems or injury issues. When he is in fresh air he is dynamite. Hopefully we're wrong and we see him come back.
  10. Correct. Had a very promising career in motocross before switching codes. Maybe he'll head back to his spiritual home?
  11. Great talent, great signing. Makes you wonder what's next for Ashton? Time away from the sport?
  12. That track was unacceptable and deserves a fine. And the excuse from Tolley doesn't make sense. "We couldn't water the track on Sunday as a trench had to be dug on the start finish line." What about the rest of the track?! Clown show.
  13. Offered much better money to ride in a better league in Poland which everyone would take (and if you say you wouldn't you're lying)...felt that track prep in the UK was poor and dangerous (which at some tracks it was) so no longer wanted to ride here...but it was his responsibility to stay and try and save British speedway?! Utterly ridiculous. The Tai bashing by some is so tiresome. Any excuse. It's just boring now. The guy is the most successful rider this country has produced, he has only ever wanted to see British speedway flourish, and our current status as reigning SON champions is down to him wanting things changed from the top down with Team GB. He instigated that. He championed it. Where we are now is due to him. So I'd say personally he has done the complete opposite of not helping British speedway. He has gone on record as saying he would love to further help the sport in this country, the guy is an asset that, if used by the BSPL, would help revolutionise British speedway. But the suits would rather plod along as we are, staring at the abyss...
  14. Jason has just posted on Instagram. Has a bad gash to his cheek. Has dislocated his left hip and has taken a proper beating. But he says he will be back soon.
  15. Seen the same reports. Sounds very bad for Jason.
  16. This is not confirmed yet, but some reports in Poland say Doyle has suffered an open fracture of the thigh. Fingers crossed these reports are wrong. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป
  17. Of course the focus will be on the negative. Everyone who saw the meeting either in person or on BSN is fully aware that there was decent racing. The reason for 'slating one rider' is because he was an absolute disgrace and shamed the Workington name. He disrespected the club, he disrespected the management, he disrespected the fans. In fact, what he did was 'cheating' because he failed to try, for whatever reason. When that happens, he should be called out. This isn't the time to sweep it under the carpet.
  18. Denham said on BSN there was no point using reserve replacements or Tac Subs as riders needed track time.
  19. Sorry, but you canโ€™t really believe that?! Youโ€™re taking the pi*s right?! His last two heats, he didnโ€™t get far enough before pulling up to know his bike was โ€˜rubbishโ€™. Still think youโ€™re taking the mickโ€ฆyou canโ€™t be serious.
  20. Canโ€™t agree. Craig has proved so far this season he is night and day better than Batchelor. Thereโ€™s no way the quitter would have scored 15 for Oxford the other night.
  21. Troy Batchelor is an absolute disgrace. Should be fired before he even leaves the track tonight. If he isnโ€™t and turns up tomorrow, he should be made to take the mic and apologise to the Workington fans, especially those that spent hard earned cash travelling to Scunthorpe.
  22. Ashton has so much talent...but I can see him walking away even if he isn't replaced at both of his teams, which is a distinct possibility right now. When he gates and is in fresh air he is absolutely rapid. When he doesn't gate, he is shutting off and not wanting anyone remotely close to him. Kings Lynn fans have said that at times he is just giving up while at the back and looks devoid of any confidence. It is such a hard watch and hopefully he gets these problems sorted as soon as possible, because he has talent to burn. Nobody wants to see it wasted.
  23. Good performance and win from KL. But there will be greater tests to come at home. Oxford are incredibly poor and need wholesale changes. I'm always one for giving riders a chance but the season is a write off already. Top of the list to go has to be Tungate whose performances have been unacceptable for a No.1. And last night's coverage were being kind to Kildemand, continually saying that he has won Grand Prixs in the past and was beating the best in the world. That's the whole point, it was in the past! He is way past his best and his current form is Championship level. The gamble/experiment on him for the Spires has failed. For KL, the enigma that is Ashton Boughen continues. He flies from the gate, he wins. He misses it, game over. Doesn't seem interested in mixing it to make up places. That trait blighted his late season form for Oxford last year and has continued into '25.
