Leicester v King's Lynn 27th April
arnieg replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Douglas guested at Leic last Thur so surely not eligible -
Very similar to P'boro. [Iversen 6.29 followed by Worrall 6.13] In fact put the top 7 from both teams together and it comes to less than 42. (And top 6 plus JE as rising star is well under the limit.)
-
The team would have SIX heatleaders in the CL, and a combined GSA north of 50 points. They'd walk the CL.

I think the critisism of Basso is unfair. In a weak team more of him is expected than he can deliver, and as a young upcoming (and very talented) rider he can't be expected to score big in every match.
-
At present r/r for no 2 is stronger than r/r for no 1. You get rides for 1,3,4 & 5 as opposed to nos 2,3,4 & 5. A strange anomaly. Suggest r/r for no 1 should allow 2 extra rides instead of one.

Wolves v Leicester 24/04
arnieg replied to Tommy Sweetman's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Weather forecast looks iffy. I think the key factor is Wolves can't do any trackwork during the day to mitigate rain damage. -
The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
arnieg replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Possible reasons: 1) the risk/suspicion that race fixing could/was taking place 2) the odds setters were never sophisticated enough (e.g. failing to give due weight to gate advantage) to make money. -
Unlike the opposition
-
There is a difference. Pedersen is demonstrably fit (or did I imagine his 18 point maximum for Grudziadz?) whereas Kennett was (allegedly) injured.

Leicester vs Belle Vue 19/4/23
arnieg replied to Lenny Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Have you seen the rate of attrition for football managers? -
Given at least one of the team was not Russian (Latosinski) I would go with USSR/Soviet Union
-
The difference is that Kennett was (or at least CLAIMED to be) injured. Nicki is so incapacitated he could only manage an 18 point maximum in the Polish Ekstraliga.
-
Also it includes a lot of matches at Leicester (average well over 10), but he won't be riding there this year in the Championship. Instead he'll be riding at all the other tracks (where he averaged under 8 last year). So unless he takes to Perry Barr the way he did to Leicester (which he may) his average will drop.

Oxford v Swindon Select - Rescheduled April 19
arnieg replied to Grachan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ht 15 59.66 Note that ht 1 was just 0.05 outside the track record -
Peterborough v Belle Vue 17 April
arnieg replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Nowhere near 3,000 crowd 1 no Emil 2 no Nicki, and no replacement (at present) 3 it's not the first match of the season 4 they've just lost at home 5 most people expect them to lose again -
Glasgow Tigers v Berwick Bandits 14/04/23
arnieg replied to cheggie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No they are not. cf Penecilin, insulin, AZT, asprin -
Iversen's bike misfired and he slowed as Fricke passed him. Not sure I'd count that one as a bona fide pass either.

10 riders with engine problems. ...co-incidence?

More than twice as much rain was forecast this week - and we got it with quite a bit to spare.
