Peterborough v Belle Vue - 9th May
Col replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Watched it. Dull as dishwater for first 8 heats. Panthers really are one year too long in the tooth. Aces could have won without Fricke & Zagar! Kurtz was excellent, not just his maximum but his team riding. -

It is down to two thing I believe. Most likely the cameraperson has never watched speedway before so doesn't know where to pint the camera. Or less likely the camera is getting everything but the producer (possibly director, I don't know) is choosing the wrong camera to show. Could be both! -

Do the riders are on bargain averages for other clubs? -

Batchelor a Monmore specialist I think he was less disappointing at Monmore for Sheffield last year than some other tracks. I do remember seeing him employing the typical Monmore tactics for riders that don't really know how to ride it last year: Locking up on the white line on the apex of turns 1 & 2 to stop any riders nipping up the inside as they start the back straight. Somewhat effective but far from quick or pleasant on the eye. -
Haven't watched anything yet but disappointing results for Czestochowa & Leszno considering Gorzow & Lublin were without key riders. Lublin maybe the team to beat this year. Mikkel Michelsen might be a good outside bet for a SGP podium overall judging by his Ekstraliga form - behind Zmarzlik & Janowski obviously!

Good job Basso found Owlerton to his liking.
-
Poor from Fricke. Hopefully Blodorn will be better on his next visit to Foxhall. Thanks to Hawkins, Kurtz & Zagar for the league point. And hats of to Brennan.

12+1 from 8 rides in 2019 19+2 from 9 rides in 2014 11+2 from 13 rides in 2013
-
Zagar last visited Foxhall in 2010 I think, 22 points from 10 rides.
-
I hope for all concerned that the Panthers are less feeble than they were on Monday, I'm pretty sure I saw them win at a canter at Owlerton last season.

Why wouldn't he be? From https://www.bellevue-speedway.com/news/preview-aces-ipswich

I said that time & again last year. At least he booked Howarth as guest (or did he) which won the Brummies the meeting.
-
Not that it counts for too much 20 odd miles away but sunny now in Wolverhampton.
-
I would have said Kings Lynn were poor had I not witnessed the abject display by the Panthers yesterday. Poor meeting, only Jorgensen & Thomas turned up for Stars. Iversen as should be doing better at a track he called home for a year.

Belle Vue Aces v Peterborough Panthers 02/05/2022 12pm.

Absolutely terrible from the Panthers, Ostergaard was reasonable. MPT finally showed up for heat 15 but Kurtz was in no mood to be denied his maximum. Nicholls apparently blew up two engines but never looked anywhere near quick enough, Etheridge & Wright passed him with ease. Harris got the only heat win for the Panthers after a good battle with Wright for a couple of laps. Bike packed up as the tapes went up in heat 4 & before that in heat 13. Andersen did nothing, rode defensively to keep Blodorn behind him a couple of times Basso wasn't too far off the pace until heat 13 when he was the length of the back straight behind the others. Palin made the gate a couple of times but went backwards each time and wasn't in contention after half a lap. Not sure what to say about the Belle Vue riders, all too easy. By heat 6 I was hoping they'd miss the gate. Kurtz heat 15 win was the pick but Zagars last ride as the breezed through the field after missing the gate. Wright never made it too easy for himself by never really making a start including photo finish for 2nd in heat 3. Fricke & Etheridge much improved. -

That is the most one-sided meeting I can remember. -

I don't think any of the Panthers are going to score 10! -

Doubt Nicholls & Andersen would agree, it's taken a while but Harris is getting there 53-37, assuming Basso hits the NSS with a pomp -
Yep Kliindt for Heeps doesn't fit.. Tungate?
-
James Shanes was an odd choice for guest, I assume for Starke when there were no other matches tonight. Of Heeps goes how much do Witches have to play with? Klindt has left his PGE Ekstraliga club, joining Rybnik in a eWinner first division. So can join another none Polish team.

Seems odd - scores I've noticed King hasn't started the season well.

Oxford vs Redcar KOC 27th April 22

Advantage Redcar. Guest Gilkes was the difference looking at the scores. Looks like 2021 wasn't a blip for Batchelor, he's just not the rider he was.
