  1. 1992 was a bit of a clean up: League Champions (1) – 1992 Ko Cup Winners (1) – 1992 4TT Champions (1) – 1992 plus our 2 point ringer finished on 8.40 with 4 full & 4 paid maximums, although not as good as 1999 with 11 full and 3 paid maximums on 10.67 as Panthers were the best team in Britain: Elite League League Champions 1999 Knockout Cup Winners 1999 Craven Shield Winners 1999 League Riders Champions J Crump 1999 Thanks for the opportunity to put that on the record, troll or not
  2. It wasn't intentional. I think I'm just overwhelmed by the buzz.
  3. We're used to that. It's a 5 man team that could grind the gears a bit further.
  4. I don't work Sundays but don't fancy 3pm Sunday at all. Luckily I didn't buy a season ticket either.
  5. I've just seen Peter Popoff on Faith TV, he's good. I've sent off for some of his wealth attracting "Miracle Spring Water". I'll be able to put in next time, that'll please Tsunami!
  6. That better than anything that I could think of in reply
  7. Be nice to test the theory once again on a level playing field at some point in the future.
  8. Nah! I just know which side of Bratters to stay on
  9. Must have been a corking response from our northern branch chairman, that killed the thread
  10. They'll be owning their own EL track before you know it? Oh hang on, that'll not work, I remember Tsunami saying ". I have a lot of respect for Rick but speedway was just not for him." And as I said on the Poole thread: "I can see your/the logic, but as a Panthers fan who has seen an golden opportunity for our club wasted, I'm sure that you can appreciate that it's the act and not the technicalities that will stick in the throat and live in the memory for many." - that'll go straight over the head of our northern where there's life there's hope business expert
  11. Don't forget the deafness & dumbness. Skidder reckons that the Hanging Gardens of Babylon are in Poole and that herds of wildebeest sweep majestically along Wimborne Road?
  12. I just don't get this magic ingredient that successful business people need to succeed in a minority sport or that they suddenly lose the skills to pick the right people and spot the bull merchants? What are the magic ingredients Ford has? As for Bratters, he's at the ABAX alternate Saturdays and doing Mrs Bratley's shopping in Sainsburys most Sundays. Rick chose Oakes for some reason didn't he. Bratters could survive in the world of shark infested custard and could still be tempted if the right offer came along but I don't think that he wants to spend too much time on the road these days; and with Peterborough being a roaring success since he left it looks like the offer to join them again will not be forthcoming, so get out it is I assume!
  13. Or was it took time to realise that you have to work with people and it's not a boardroom? You give supremo too much credit, it wasn't the first time and Frost said that he handed the club over in good order. Mick Bratley said years ago that the club could not (cheers Neil ) run on crowds alone which is why we had a thriving commercial side when he was there, which allegedly brought in a fair amount of cash. We all saw Bratley putting out sponsor boards on the centre green and I assume entertaining guests in the sponsors lounge as well as trying to promote the sport in the right places locally. So Rick comes in, Bratley leaves, the sponsor boards go in a shed, the sponsors lounge gathers dust allegedly and we have a bus in Sleaford, the roadshow turns up in Soham and a garden centre with seemingly nobody doing much worthwhile in the right areas, with no apparent day to day commercial side although we did have a nicely manicured centre green! We unfortunately didn't really give ourselves a chance did we? Frost runs a bloody huge company so why did he need a Matt Ford? Surely their training section has a suitable course?
  14. Frost said: “We should have made the changes much earlier so I guess the buck stops with me. “Everything turned around after the arrival of Ryan and the alterations to the team. “Our original team looked pretty good on paper but certain guys we thought we could rely on - who were admittedly coming back from injuries - didn’t really perform. “It was apparent that changes were required and I’ve really enjoyed the second half of the season. “We made the most dramatic progress of any team and had we made the top four, we would have had a good chance of winning the title. A lot of people would have been scared to face us whereas taking on Poole home and away wouldn’t have bothered me.” (PT 28/10/13)
  15. And as I said, I can understand why and don't blame them from their point of view because they can but that's where the piece of string ends. Why did the fans stop turning up? EL champs 2006, should have been 2007 and then an embarrassment of riches and one play-off disaster to show for it. The crowd only picked up when they installed someone competent in the second half of 2013; so instead of building on that success we bail out, lose Sky exposure and hand over to the supremo to decimate our product, that's some business acumen.
  16. Well we're in the wrong one of those two leagues with status gone and I don't recall too many great times? NEW owner Rick Frost has promised Panthers fans that great times lie ahead. (www.peterboroughtoday 29/8/08) NEW owner Rick Frost has promised Panthers fans that great times lie ahead. The Berkshire businessman, who earlier this week revealed his sole aim of making Peterborough number one for speedway, is relishing the prospect of transforming the fortunes of the city club after taking over from previous owner Colin Horton. Frost insists the future of the club is now secure and he is intent on making sure the same can be said for their Elite League status.
  17. They may have not put money in this time but might have over many years through the gate. If one liked Frost and Mahoney's potential, if not particularly the product up until the latter half of 2013, and not the PL product of 2014 and the one needing the cash for 2015, then this is not an overreaction for some. High profile in a low profile sport. Would seem logical to try to get something for your money rather than sponsorship, especially when you already own a club and assets: Frost added: “Without wishing to sound blasé, it is not big bucks to us. Financing the club has been part of our advertising and branding budget (peterboroughtoday.co.uk 28/10/13)
  18. £3/4m - what the bloody hell on? The losses wouldn't have been half as bad if he'd made more right decisions. It wasn't all bad to be fair and I'd take Rick & Julie back like a shot rather than what we have now. I love it down Poole so can see the attraction and am not really surprised as I never saw Rick as a backwater of the Premier League sort of guy but didn't think that he'd stoop this low after pulling out of Peterborough claiming financial issues although 3 weeks earlier had said that losses were not an issue. When Peterborough was recently up in the air yet again, I said to my mate that I didn't think Rick would close Peterborough (I obviously had misplaced respect) but my mate said that Rick wouldn't give a stuff! Although we haven't yet shut I still gave the benefit of the doubt for better things again. That has been put to bed now. I guess I was wrong and the worthless bunch with big mouths and empty pockets were right after all?
  19. Reading the new items again would suggest not but given our communication skills, hype and cock-ups over many years then it could be taken as the big announcement? Time will tell. They could of course clarify the situation, mentioning supporter confusion over the news items!
  20. Rings a bell: "NEW owner Rick Frost has promised Panthers fans that great times lie ahead." (29/8/2008) - we got years of Kenneth Bjerre, no success, the winter of discontent, a messy end with the introduction of supremo Horton and tenuously more of the same for the foreseeable future!
