  1. If your a speedway supporter then you're patronised, it comes with the territory. We've all been out of pocket at some point without seemingly good reason but we return anyway. Why do they need to let you know the details? This thread is chip paper so to speak when we all focus on our next meeting. Those fans are not going to get their time or money back, that's the harsh reality and I doubt that they'd feel any better if they knew why? They might but it's unlikely to happen. FWIW, I was not really affected being local but think that it was shockingly handled and communicated and am fully sympathetic to the Edinburgh fans, and those who apparently turned up at the EoES for the meeting. Far from ideal in a season in which we're trying to regroup! nb. I'm still waiting to know why 2010 happened, why Panthers lost those Kings Lynn points again last season and how those 10 heats at the zoo v Poole were allowed to continue, or even start in dangerous conditions - so me first please as I've been waiting longer. Oh and one more - why Frost changed his mind so quickly to throw in the towel after seemingly being all set for 2014? This wouldn't have happened then.
  2. But if the EoES doesn't agree but says we say how high or there's no speedway, what then! These are not pre Andrew Mercer & co days! There's obviously more to this than meets the eye and the reasons will not be made public so it's not worth getting excited about,
  3. Would you believe them. They could come up with numerous plausible reasons but that wouldn't satisfy many I suspect. Btw, it was the Johnstone's Paint Trophy won at Wembley in front of 35,663 so not quite Mickey Mouse. Speedway gets that type of crowd once a year when the best who don't want to ride here in our Mickey Mouse league turn up!
  4. All Neil did was correct an inaccurate post which seemed fair enough. Scotchopper's second post is better and I'm sure that Peterborough Speedway didn't call the meeting off without good reason. H&S is a broad brush these days and if it was explained further then people would still argue the toss anyway. The days of running amongst other events (The EoE show, Expo Steam, BMF etc) are long gone at the shrinking EoES. It only takes a slight graze these days for the intelligencia to reach for the no win no fee hotline. What I would agree with is "If it's always bad after Truckfest, why the hell was a speedway fixture scheduled for the next day?" as potentially a mess is what's left or is being cleared up. Ever visited planet earth?
  5. Could be a gating competition after a weekend of trucks and bikes running round etc turning shale to dust.
  6. So not only did leicester nick our place, they also inherited our standing
  7. As Arkwright would say, team suits are ok but you can't retire on them, it's the track action and presentation that's important! Didn't hear Pearson and Tatum comparing the team outfits (unless I missed it), only how good the track action was, much better live I might add.
  8. Indeed. I think we're drifting from the original point here and you perhaps need to read HadrianDog's post again, not that I have any wish to discuss it with you any further so will bid you good day!
  9. As I said, how did you cope in the 70's, 80's, 90's (or whatever decade you started in) when speedway was thriving (or moreso than now) and riders wore what they had? Has the new era of team suits etc stopped the rot and our slide to third world speedway nation? Nope!
  10. Bjerre is in green (not the helmet colour, wasn't that the way forward?), he's easy to spot for home and away alike. We can argue the toss on the minutiae but the point was that team suits are some sort of magic bullet for speedway whereas where Panthers are and where British speedway is in 2014 suggests that what the riders wear makes little difference? A couple of months without and you'd soon know who is who, was never a problem before team suits and most of us could name every rider.
  11. I'd guess that it was because everyone wore black or dark gear years ago and riders were hard to pick out individually as both teams at that time looked like the satanic version of Newcastle's white fog? What season were helmet colours introduced? That's a good quiz question"
  12. Our entry wasn't that late though was it? Interesting point made though, never looked at it like that, thought that it was just another cost cutting exercise. However, after initially thinking that it was a retrograde step not to have team suits, I now couldn't give a stuff. We've had teamsuits for years but crowds dropped, sponsors departed, successive promotors lost money and we've somehow ended up in the PL on the back of all that (amongst other things). I couldn't tell who was who in the Newcastle white fog on Monday but Panthers were individualy easy to pick out.
  13. If they end it'll be due more to losing at home to RH. Panthers away are always hit and miss, mostly miss, moreso by the looks of it in 2014 due to the difficulty in getting our strongest 1-7 out.
  14. And they usually stub out their tabs on the airfence although that was taken down PDQ last night so may be locked away.
  15. "Stand holds 2350" Track Information Track Length: 336 metres Track Record: 58.4 seconds by Krzysztof Kasprzak (Coventry), Heat 1 Peterborough v Coventry 20/09/10 Facilities: 2200 Capacity Grandstand http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/clubdetails
  16. I think that it was plan B just in case plan A went pear shaped which it did (Don't think that Rick ever had a plan b in 5 years up to that point).
  17. Indeed. I've just ignored our loony friend, can't think why I never thought of it before
  18. Surely you've been watching? If not then it's pretty standard stuff from our loony friend
  19. I thought that it was a serious post for a moment! It was intentional (that's not you btw). Our loony friend was posting in the style of the good loser from Stamford Bridge: " "Congratulations to Mike Dean, because he made a fantastic performance." - "And congratulations to Mike Riley, because what they did during the season was fantastic for the way the championship is going."
  20. No rain here. It's fine but cloudy and the lunctime forecast was fine all day. There shouldn't be any problems but will post if that changes. A nice cooling lager from Tetley catering (hope that's still there for my amusement) will not be required although thermals will!
