Peterborough v Belle Vue 5/9/2019
Crump99 replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've not seen Lambert this year so would agree with that based on his performances when he was here (from reserve anyway). However, with that team (injuries aside that can't be helped) and our current plight and league position as well as having something else that needs my attention and will be a better use of the time, this will be my first EoES miss of the season. With my mate not able to do the 17th, meaning that I'll probably dip out as well, then that only leaves Monday for the season. Better try to make that in case it's the last. -

Indeed! Probably the only thing Horton said that I agreed with “This club needs another Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney, people with the finances to make it work.” -
Yes, I think I'm on the point of spotting the flaw in this plan, but do go on
-
The damage has been done and signing a reserve doesn't really matter given our league position and time of the season. Is it positive news to lift supporters ahead of their return to the EoES next Thursday? Only in team management and Facebook world. Some clarification/expansion of Chapman's Aug 15 PT article might, I say might because dropping a league again isn't a positive in many respects (although looking at Bury FC, be careful what you wish for is probably appropriate), be seen as real positive news to lift the spirits before the final few home meetings.
-
And what's the good news?
-
True. But still doesn't address the point of do they really want speedway there as they say (or we are told that they do) because such a policy shows no appreciation of the sport and way it runs. Also, why can't speedway run within other bookings as it once did? That's never been properly explained although it seems that it can be done if the will is there.

The memories. I blame that experience as the reason that I now need a daily fix of Inspiration TV and Daystar
-
The question is, if the EoES really want us there (and we're told that they do, along with this alleged excellent 15 year working relationship we have with the administration) then why do they seemingly not respect our business and the way that we need to run? You could have posted the same quote in 2003. No dates from the middle of July until September for a summer sport is unacceptable. You said a while ago that if we needed more dates (as in a bigger fixture list at the start) then you thought that they would make them available. Was that based on Sunday meetings or would it apply to midweek as well? I always said that moving to Sunday was bad and would kill off top level sport at the EoES because once they got a sniff of us not running predominantly in the week then that would be their preferred option.

That's standard though at their place and you knew that before you ventured up the A47. -
Probably no better or no worse but came at at time of relative strength within the sport (compared to now) and when Panthers had the run of the EoES on their terms which made the club an attractive proposition for any new owner/s.
-
Can I have them back then if you've finished with them. The Bratters posters are full of dart holes and looking at bit of a mess now, not that they ever looked great but did keep the flies out

Should be a cracker. -
It's not going to work mate. If you ever see Bratters coming towards you it isn't to shake your hand and say hello degenerate
-
Jeez, I hope Posh don't lose badly tomorrow because some poor sod's in for it next week if they do. Added to that it seems that orion thinks that you can run a bath now, a double like from young Tim
-
Been doing that for 20 years.

What do you expect on here. It's been a dogs dinner since (pick your own moment/year when it really went to #### ), the EoES is in an unprecedented August lockdown, we've no idea who runs the show (well that's not true as the Harris Witches and Cook Stars seem to be doing ok as another 6 fingered guest creeps into view) and no idea what the future holds apart from a wooden cooking utensil. To be honest, if you listen to Johnson then you do yourself no favours.

He was looking to sell and those reasons were given but only Rathbone knows when Chapman came on the scene or whether there were any other serious bidders. Rathbone also said that Panthers would run in 2019 so the distance wasn't an major short term issue.
-
If they were not interested last year when the club was in a good position with Rathbone in post then why would they be interested now. A link with Balfe Motorsport, a move up a league and BT publicity for T. Balfe Construction Limited seemed tailor made but much like Frost and Mahoney's riches, that bird has probably flown.
-
Surely you realise that if you post as such then you'll get a response asking to justify or back up what you say. If you don't wish to play but only deal with the bleedin' obvious in a disinterested manner then at least we can know where we stand
-
That was when the alarm went off but someone hit the snooze button before it went off again in Aug 2017 and someone did the same again but it was 3rd time unlucky in Nov 2018 when the button failed to work.
-
So in other words you can't find anything. Finding out the truth as relating to speedway business, that'd be a first!
-
Given what allegedly went on in 2010, Holdergate and the publicity and grief that brought then where's the surprise tbh?
-
Have we seen anything that said that they were happy to walk away entirely? The first news item I can find (Nov 18) says "Keith Chapman, the BSPA Chairman and Owner of King’s Lynn Speedway, has agreed a commercial deal with Ged to buy the Peterborough Panthers in time for the 2019 season. The agreement will see Ged and his loyal track team continue to run the Club in the Premiership." Still no sign of walking away in December when it started to go pear shaped "But we know what we’re here for business-wise, we’ll be going out to bring some silverware back to Peterborough once again and now it’s vital that the supporters do their bit and come out on a Thursday night to back us – and bring some friends along, because we’ll definitely have some exciting racing!” As we all know, it went seriously wrong in January when realisation struck "THE sale of Peterborough Speedway Club is now complete and due to unforeseen circumstances the Club have released Chris Harris from his 2019 contract. It is common that with new ownership (of the club) comes a different business model, and it has been identified that to operate at Premiership level, some cost measures are now required." It was at this point that Johnson became the mouthpiece, Pratt came in and Rathbone/Watson went AWOL. From what Neil has said then it doesn't appear to be an amicable agreed divorce so if you can find different then I'd be happy to read it.
