Peterborough v Wolves 17.9.19
Crump99 replied to Call me wolfie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Think that you need to reword that Rodders. It doesn't read too well. It's got me confused! -
It was quite funny though when she then said in Rik Mayall style "Hands Up Who Likes Me" and everyone quickly sat on their hands.
-
Doesn't sound like a run of the mill part-time fan so we'll leave it there. At least we agree that it's a mess.

Not sure of the point you're trying to make but it's not rocket science to say that there is only one answer to your question. Even if that is because the only way to get the standard that you want to watch is by being a functioning club. As for being mad, everyone else knew what Peterborough was like running at the Showground (although the EoES does appear to have been less than helpful in 2019 - whether fact or fiction only the inner circle know) and everyone knows what not to do so as not to lose the crowd. Home fixtures apart, much of the rest was self inflicted before a wheel was turned and then the bad luck that all teams get just couldn't be compensated for with a weak team. That's the way to lose money. Unfortunately it's pretty clear that the lower tier drop beckons again, never to resurface from those depths, because that's the only way not to potentially lose shedloads unless the EoES plays ball with regular weekly dates, and there's more chance of Jo Swinson saying something intelligent than that happening.
-
Bad management and bad luck has nothing to do with the top league. Given the time limited life for speedway at the EoES who's going to buy out Chapman? If running speedway at the EoES is like chucking money down the bog then who's going to invest knowing that the initial investmest isn't coming back either?
-
Sounds like testing the water and see the reaction. It's been an interesting year so lets go backwards again. Should have read the T&Cs of Rathbone's 5 year plan regarding year 6.

I'm well aware all of the detail in the public domain. That says "It is common that with new ownership (of the club) comes a different business model" yet in November Chapman said that he was investing in Peterborough and “Everything stays the same at Ipswich and Peterborough with their management continuing to run the clubs." - no mention of new business model or finances so one assumes that you were working within an agreed business model and the goalposts moved or the mess did indeed start in December with crossed wires and communication problems.

Don't usually take the bait but the week is early, I can't remember the last time that we were not told that this is the team that we wanted and they all want to ride for Panthers. On Dec 20 last year I'm sure that management and fans felt that way then. What we've been supporting is the mess that emanated from that time. If Ostrich and Lambert is the answer then I'm buggered if I know what the question is.

True. No thanks.

Never been anything different: 2013 "Frost added: “There are losses at Peterborough every year but myself and Julie are very fortunate in that our companies make a lot of money." 2014 Horton said: “This club needs another Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney, people with the finances to make it work.” 2018 Ged Rathbone insists selling Panthers was the only way he could complete a five-year plan for the city club - “From the first day I took over the club at the end of 2014, my intention has always been to take Peterborough back to the highest level,” said Rathbone. “We had a five-year plan to do that and we have managed to achieve it going into the fifth year. “It was very obvious I couldn’t afford to make the plan come to fruition, but Mr Chapman’s purchase means it can now happen.

You missed the flaw in the looney's post -

Agreed. Rain all day eventually put me off attending but enjoyed that on TV and don't say that very often so well done to all concerned. Only downside, apart from the empty stand obviously, was the bulb out above the start. Gate 4 looked to be in a black hole and the exciting finishes went from light coming off the last turn only to fall into the very same black hole as they crossed the finishing line. -

Just said the same to someone. On Jul 15 I said we'd all come back to at the end of the summer with everything being wrong, including the weather; so it has proved. A summer sport cannot have summer off at home, that's ludicrous. -

Worth the drive Rodders to see 20 blokes standing at the pit gate looking at the track. -
Not fussed tbh and never play the numbers game anyway. Even Frost complained of awful gates and he provided a much superior product. Bratters complained over the years as well. It is what it is and the only supporters missing out are the ones not there. It should be entertaining and nobody wants to look a mug on TV.

Live is better and with only 2 meeting left people have all winter to sit on their arse.
-
It makes people feel better but doesn't mean a lot. If speedway isn't there because we're not running for whatever reason (and it's been close on numerous occasions since 2010 as we know) then there is nothing to be replaced.

The time not to meet Peterborough is the second of quick succession meetings after a long break when they've got their eye in. Swindon are always beatable at the EoES and it'll be anything but easy but could be anything results wise tbh. -

Good to see 6 fingers and tractors fans agreeing on something anyway, funny that! It's a fair point although we'll never know. All teams get injuries though and it's for the rest of the quality in the team to then step up and management fill the gaps effectively to take up the slack. I'm sure that you can see the problems here -
I would have liked that post if it wasn't a reply to The Mentalist, so away from looney I'll say that I agree although I don't know who the first three named are but I know Fricke Doyle and Iversen so that sort of helps your case

Paper never refuse ink. Chapman says “As for Peterborough staying in the Premiership, we obviously need to look at the structure of the sport and whether fixed race-nights work at the venue. Only time will tell, but we’ll know by November for sure.” Whatever they do or don't do tonight isn't going to make a jot of difference but naturally Johnson has to do his best to talk it up somehow so no problem with that. -
