  1. Fair point. I don't think many of those excuses are coming from Panthers fans though. If they are then have a go by all means. I'd tend to ignore our 6 fingered friends from down the A47 or anyone on a broomstick flying down the A14. Oh, and just unignored based on your reply
  2. I'm sure that Dick and I care as much about the club and it's future as you and have seem all of the club's owners, promoters come and go over the years. I've been through the constant moaning phase, in fact I'm sure that Dick pulled me up over my weekly dislike of Henning Bager many moons ago. Maybe you'll come through your phase at some point. But until then, that's good advice. You can join an exclusive blocked club
  3. Even as a not particularly happy Panthers fan, we get the message and it is getting a little tiresome. Yes it's a forum and you're entitled to your opinion but could you change the record. If not while Chapman is there then just sit tight and see what happens because I doubt that you'll change anything.
  4. It's been like that at times for at least 15 years at Peterborough. There has been some nasty stuff and management have often been justified in coming out fighting. Generally though it's lack of communication/explanation that causes the problems. Fans get upset and vent their anger and management get upset when in fact they could have nipped things in the bud much earlier with a version of events that people will believe and not the corporate line that usually doesn't stack up to other info out there.
  5. As it turned out badly I'd say that Buster will get the blame.
  6. You'll not be an Alan Partridge fan Rodders but he had the perfect retort for a similar loon: "No way you big spastic you're a mentalist!"
  7. Historically that is a fair observation. More often than not, like most places in reality, the first half of a meeting is often fairly processional with the odd good bit before it really warms up afterwards. The problem in 2019, especially lately, with the Panthers team provided is that it's usually in big trouble at the EoES by that time, just hanging on as the opposition coasts through the second half of the meeting doing what's necessary as Panthers bust a gut just to get a drawn heat with a first and last place.
  8. I'm not convinced but you know more than I of the running and logistics of the place so I can live with that. It was a bit bloody steep down the back so you could be correct on the H&S as well.
  9. Was that it Neil? If so, what a poor decision that was. For Rob or anyone else's benefit then here's a good example of the banking as it was: 1989 4TT Finals Peterbrough
  10. Would you expect anything else from Scrutton (or Debs). Unable to argue his point or put a decent case forward so goes for the nuclear option that no loyal speedway fan of any circuit should wish on another
  11. You didn't hear any Panthers fans moaning on Dec 20th despite Chapman. Perhaps you need to think a bit harder about it and ask what went wrong from that point and who was responsible?
  12. That's up to him but don't complain about low attendances and losing money.
  13. Yes but you don't need to prepare it to that extent. Just let it develop during the meeting. One of the better meetings this season was when we didn't get the bull about track records, just prepared a sensible track and all but left it for the whole meeting. The racing was terrific. Although the track this season has been a bit of a dogs in racing terms, to be fair to Chapman, inconsistency of track preparation has been an issue for many seasons at the EoES, mainly due to long breaks between meetings meaning it's always like starting again. When there's a group of meetings then they seem to get some consistency but we quickly return to square one when you can't see the next meeting over the horizon.
  14. I'd say it has to be somewhere between the two for good racing.
  15. They've dummed it down year on year from around that time and removed the quality so it's hardly a surprise. In 2001 it was a case of Many Elite League promoters had to be convinced it was worth contributing £10,000 apiece to help cover production costs of live television coverage two seasons ago. Last year the deal continued with no money involved exchanged, but this season brings the pay-off. Sky have agreed a £3 million television deal for five years and are chipping in an additional £150,000 for a season's sponsorship of the league. How the hell have we arrived at the shambles we are in from that position of strength.
  16. I've just done the same, watched until the recording cut out and set to record tomorrow morning, hopefully edited to get the whole meeting. Added to that I was also there and I've certainly seen worse. Even the delays were not too bad. It was a nice evening and time didn't seem to drag as it often does during long delays. Regarding the BT programme, I was actually enjoying that as well. I've certainly seen worse on the box: 4 heats I suffered from King Lynn last week or whenever it was for starters, as for Poole, say no more squire . I'm also not known for my positivity so for me to agree with much of such a post is rather unusual.
  17. A few years ago the inside line didn't work at all as it had done for many previous seasons. The one line was often a couple of yards off the fence so it's good that Chapman has that inside working again but it's too good at times and there needs to be a balance which has only really been found at a couple of meetings. Those memories somehow then morph into it's been terrific all season when it clearly hasn't. However, if he'd put out the competitive side as advertised in December then you wonder whether the track would have got too much of a mention?
  18. Not the best example. Bjerre's had his moments: Panthers team boss Trevor Swales was gracious in defeat, saying: “To be honest, we were just beaten by the better side. Coventry were the better team over both legs and we just weren’t good enough. “I feel sorry for the fans, because they have stuck by us all season and we have just thrown it away. I feel for the fans, I feel for Rick and Julie, I feel for the staff here, everyone... because we have thrown away a whole season’s worth of effort. I’m disappointed in the boys, because some of them didn’t have the will tonight. I don’t care what they say about the track, you have to get on and ride it. “They had the wrong attitude; and they beat themselves at five o’clock, when they saw the track. PETERBOROUGH 44 (Kenneth Bjerre 1:1 (0-1:1-0-0) And on that evening Chris Harris got 13 so nobody told him either. Even Batchelor got 8 and he moaned most weeks about something or other.
  19. No, just pining for an EoES racers track.
  20. Look, I took the liberty of examining that parrot when I got it home, and I discovered the only reason that it had been sitting on its perch in the first place was that it had been NAILED there
  21. There's an entrance to the car park Neil mentions that is the old stock car track and I can't recall that ever being used, for speedway anyway, which probably indicates some of the restrictions in and around the EoES these days, especially as that is the most logical entrance when that car park is used.. Added to that, they don't like the grass being messed up inside the outer fencing. Can you imagine, trucks, trailers and stock cars all over the place. The landlords would have a fit.
  22. We'll never know unless someone wites an autobiography: Go on Neil, you know you want to
  23. I've said before, as was proved, it can be fixed pretty quickly. Just get away from the track record, fast times rubbish. A few meetings ago when the track produced action that you'll struggle to better anywhere, times were more approaching 60 seconds rather than chasing 57 seconds.
