Personally I think Chapman was the only offer on the table and not wanting to lose his investment in the future or particularly wanting to carry on in 2019 he pinched his nose and signed a deal that seemingly started to unravel before the ink was dry.

No. There's more to life than speedway, and at 38 after a great career with a few too many bangs on the head I'd be thinking that I got away (to some extent although he's not out of the woods yet) with that one and perhaps it's best to bow out in one piece? Unless things have changed then that is nothing to do with the club but is down to the Showground management. There have been enough warnings on here in recent seasons about avoiding catering within the circuit. You'll be wiser next time.
