Put yourself in the position of the promoter who's paying the bills and probably losing money. What would you do? It's just an unfortunate situation and not compatible with the compensation culture.

Do the job that you've been brought in to do and you'll be fine. As has been said, if not then you could be out. If you don't think that you can meet those requirements then don't buy the equipment and don't sign the contract. If you choose to but it doesn't work then whose fault is that? The club and fans seem pretty loyal to those doing the job expected.

Just make sure that you get advice in writing. There are no excuses these days. If advice/decisions can be given verbally then they can just as easily be given electronically. If the person giving the advice will not put it in writing then I'd steer well clear to avoid potential future problems.
