  1. That's just the happy clappers getting excited. Well intentioned but it's not a raffle, serious cash is needed. So if Ged doesn't want to carry on then a sale does get a mention which means the EoES may deal with someone else? Problem is, where is the next Frost/Mahoney because that's the budget required to run at the Showground when they can fit you in. “I’ve got to try to understand whether I can stay out of trouble and away from the politics, and if I’ve still got enough left in me to carrying on doing the best I can for Peterborough Speedway, or whether the club gets sold, or worst case scenario disappears.” (Peterborough Today 16/10)
  2. That's assuming that the EoES doesn't want to deal with anyone else and Rathbone doesn't want to recoup some of the reported 100k that he's invested? If the EoES want to end it then that's the end but otherwise I want something back for my troubles.
  3. I will agree that the response from Panthers management since August has been wrong and confrontational. That was taking them on when I'd say when a different approach was needed to play nicely even though we thought that we were doing the right thing. Rathbone said the politics gets him down and Frost/Mahoney warned him about the BSPA. The thing is, there is a bloke living within a stones throw of the EoES track (think Mick Bratley still lives there) who is quite comfortable working in the world of shark infested custard and knows when to back down or play the game even when probably in the right. “But the written findings of the SCB hearing make mention of the fact that I was ill advised." Both those named promotions ignored the advice that wasn't ill-advised for some reason and paid the price. If Rathbone wants, or can afford, to carry on then with his co-promoter bowing out then he could do with that experience in the camp. Unfortunately the piece in our local rag today does seem like a resignation speech. It would take all of Bratley's skills to smooth that over, if he was interested or wanted to help now. I think that he still would.
  4. So you're saying that they are all totally untrustworthy and don't take any action without written evidence to back it up? Sounds about right, the penny will drop at some point.
  5. The only mistake was not getting what they say in writing before doing anything. It was funny that he said that Readypower (Frost/Mahoney) warned him about the BSPA because we've been there before with word of mouth from that lot: “All we at Peterborough Speedway want is for the BSPA rulebook to be adhered to and applied consistently." Indeed. It doesn't happen very often so make the most of it! I didn't get where I am today by being positive
  6. I don't get the Holder bashing and I've slagged him off enough since August when it perhaps wasn't totally warranted, but what were people watching tonight? He had a very good first ride for a Panthers 5-1. He busted a gut to join Lambert in heat 6 before his bike went pop and then he had two tough races where it looked like the bike wasn't working. Unless someone can give me a good reason for lack of effort, I didn't see it.
  7. Speedway's problem is that the glass isn't half full and it's got a leak. I'm just trying to suggest ways that it can present itself efficiently to top up the glass. It's an improvement that costs nothing and ticks another off a bloody long list. Finishes at 4pm which was never going to be a goer with a 5pm start given any clear up and lack of EoES access routes these days. The National Festival of Railway Modelling –10th anniversary
  8. Bloody double r/r again. Any chance of telling us who's in the race before the riders take to the track in the affected heats?
  9. Great theory and that's the big sell. Trouble is that you end up fifth celebrating a winning run of challenge matches.
  10. Not really because he'd soon be back in the main body an out of his depth.
  11. After going without in 2014 and looking like a ragbag outfit of individuals, it's team suits everytime for me.
  12. Having just watched another guess who's in the race meeting with Panthers and Edinburgh both running R/R, I'd make a new rule when no riders are allowed on track until the full and correct line up of the heat has been annouced over the PA to the crowd.
  13. Expecting accurate information at least 24 hours before a meeting is a bit much.
  14. That was a 2014 special was that meeting but thanks for your patience! At least the lights didn't go out, well only when you wanted to fill in the programme that is.
  15. May I request no trainee referee, someone present in the box who knows how and when to operate the stand lights, and finally the PA set at a standard level instead of randomly quiet and a somewhat higher level at times all evening. Oh, and no rap music or anything that remotely sounds like rap music - that's all!
  16. I would say make it 24/7, not just Saturday night!
  17. That was funny wasn't it. Lambert did look though like someone had spiked his methanol with nitro! Remember the knockout GPs when Mario Jirout used to get knocked out before the crowd had sat down? Cook's lucky that's long gone.
  18. That's a bite though. He's probably quite excited by your post.
  19. Stick him on ignore Rodders then you can open up the post if you feel the need to pity someone that day. Otherwise just move on to the next post.
  20. I doubt that Frost/Mahoney missed anything from 2008-13, far from it I'd say. Horton before and Horton after perhaps but that's only a couple of years in the last 10. The resident looney is right in that financially Panthers are small beer to the EoES but that small beer is regular, as is the noisy use of the stadium which must be useful to remind the locals that the Showground was there before them. Whether that regular noisy use is needed really depends on what the long term plan is for the shrinking Showground. We've been saying that for years though and we're still going. We wouldn't be discussing it now if Hancock hadn't got crocked.
  21. So Rathbone & co went to all the effort to buy the club and make it his life for the last 3 years without realising that he has a short time limited club? Seems a bit far fetched to me. If the EoES plan is to shut up shop for the speedway in 2 or 3 seasons then surely you'd knock it on the head now rather than input time effort and money for lttle, if any, return.
  22. They found a new rule. It doesn't matter how many times that you infringe, you can only be hung drawn and quartered once for the single offence of infringement. All will be explained in the charge sheet and subsequent publicised ruling! - oops, I think that bit's wrong
  23. Exactly what my mate said. Proctor clearly had a beef with Abbot and Costello at tapes as explained above, very amusing, but why he thought going round on the centre green was ok, buggered if I know. Much like the good old days with someone storming up the box for clarification, good on Proctor, apart from the morons in the crowd booing him. What is the point!
