Rathbone's quotes is the first statement (5/8/17) suggest that there was some benefit to the club although the PR was missing any detail.
-
Trouble is that amongst all of the hot air, whatever contract was allegedly in place it wasn't worth the paper it was written on, If "Contractually and by agreement the rider should be at Peterborough, not in Poland." then I'm sure that he would have been and the action by the authorities would have been swift and decisive if he wasn't. It wasn't, Holder has missed another fixture and we're still waiting one week on which suggests that there's a big loophole to close off.
-
Certainly not but he didn't because the rule wasn't there was it. That's why they seemingly got away with it. Holder should have got 28 days regardless of who gives permission. Rathbone should have been put on licence for 12 months and warned of future conduct. If he chooses to then walk then that's his choice. If he's a speedway man (as Tsunami says) then he'll take it on board and carry on. If speedway's not for him (Tsunami's verdict on Rick Frost) then he'll move on. The point that you seem to be missing is that we're only discussing this because Rathbone kept peterborough running in the first place when the sport was already dieing a slow death, so that's a funny way of being part of the cause of it!
-
A very small part that can be rectified by the powers that be and less wishy washy rules and a strong slap on the wrist. I don't agree with what Rathbone did, why or what were the perceived benefits? However, without Rathbone there may not be a Peterborough Speedway, so if keeping a track going with all of the benefits to the sport that provides then that's a strange way helping the sport to die.

Panthers lost at home (1st time) to Sheffield on June the 18th and it was clear enough then who the top 4 were going to be, "Post by Bigcatdiary on Jun 23, 2017 at 12:58pm I have copied the latest league table and added the plus and minus points which tend to show a better reflection of who the front runners are,Any points gained on the road are plus whilst any points dropped at home are minus At the moment Glasgow are well clear and the other members of the current play club are Edinburgh, Ipswich and Sheffield. Panthers will need several away wins to even get close to the top 4 and will need to start picking up something even if they lose, I rather suspect our two home losses to date could cost us dear come September. Just one league away win and 3 points from 7 away matches is a very poor return so far."

Usual procedure is deal with it when it happens isn't it? -

No because the BSPA will have introduced a discretionary 28 day ban ruling (irrespective of who gives permission) by the end of the week -

Should be with a like for like replacement so as not to short change the home fans and promotion. -
They blew it to stop the rot in 2010, which is ironic considering who's kicking off now and who's involved.
-
Let's hope the BSPA get to the bottom of it and grow a pair and find the missing page from the rulebook which deals with exceptional circumstances. I know that speedway promoters are a law unto themselves but I don't think Rathbone would bow to Poole, but who knows? As Chapman seems a bit upset and it's a Holder, how about Chris having a plan to p' him off as well? (That's my conspiracy theory )

Would have ironically been busy at Leicester last night. Did you see that Kings Lynn side

Stable door job and deflecting all of the blame because they are not really in control of the sport and their own showpiece event. So the question was asked and refused prior to Friday but Holder left anyway (and was pointed out and discussed on here on Friday) but it takes until Sunday afternoon to get response out. What a weak excuse permission of the club is. The club didn't have authorisation to give their blessing if the BSPA didn't sanction it and contractually and by agreement the rider should be at Peterborough? Should get 28 days anyway. Would be interesting to know what evidence they have, if indeed they have any, but that'll never get out anyway. Nice carrot though
-
Problem being that when they step in it there's less and less on the shoes to scrape off and speedway's powers that be are seemingly unable to do much about it to halt the downward spiral.

Aren't they the same person!

Poole Pirates Vs Somerset Rebels 26/07/17
Crump99 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
For an apparent top league those are two shocking sides which shows how weak British Speedway is. That'd be a premium second tier fixture but as a fixture at the Manchester United of speedway it's more suited to Burton Albion (with all due respect to Burton). -

Well you found this thread but there's a Pairs one in the same section. As for the rest, look further up in the general section. -

I think that a real EL with 9 home and 9 away fixtures was what Peterborough needed. Never happened of course and it's quantity over quality that was chosen for British Speedway, especially at the level we dropped into and stuck. Redcar x6 is testament to that. As for the crowd, Neil forgot to mention that there was nothing on the fixture which was the biggest factor IMO, plus the absence of Holder who is a draw at the EoES. -
It's the half way point not October. It's been ifs, buts and maybe for a good while now. When was the last time you thought that Woffinden was the tattoo to beat?
-
That's his problem. A few years ago he couldn't miss a start and looked a world beater, whereas now he can't consistently buy a start and just pops up with the odd convincing race, much like anyone else tbh.

Fair point but anyone who knows you knows that you're the ultimate (ultimate what, now there's a quiz question) anyway. Unwittingly though you have just disproved the two sides theory because there is no discussion to be had on what you are, so there is no middle ground -

Exactly, it's all maybe and maybe not in speedway. Take it all with a pinch of salt. -
