  1. It could be argued that way but with respect I think FP's point is the only key part that you need to focus on, although in speedway bingo if 3.29 fits and the names on speed dial then I guess a decision had to be made.
  2. which lone tabloid voice said this then "The 32 year-old, who will operate at second string for Panthers on a bargain 3.29 average,"
  3. It was a nice thought though, perhaps you could give it a go.
  4. A 5 man team which is a recipe for disaster. I hope that you're not part of the management team. Top of what. I've seen nothing to suggest that he's making progress.
  5. Mainly down to bad fixture planning and not getting things moving in case they have nothing for later in the season. Consequently, bugger all in the summer and a big panic at the end of the season. Add in International/European fixtures, rain offs etc and it's the same old every year. We also have to contend with life at the EoES; who'd be a speedway promoter? With the winner riding against Dorset Panthers who default to the final without needing to ride a competive fixture.
  6. Which is virtually cancelled out by superb away form on the whole (and few Panthers sides have ever been able to say that) so I don't quite understand the logic. The fact that despite a poor home record they're are still clinging on could suggest that they deserve a shot at the play-offs. With three wobblers in the team they'd get turned over even with an respectable Ostrich.
  7. In hindsight letting MPT go was a bad move but at the time it was the right decision. His gating was awful and he wasn't someone you'd ever put money on to win a race. He many not pick up many duck eggs, like too many Panthers recently, but at the EoES (which is Panthers problem let's not forget) MPT gave everyone a head start and was usually scrapping for third or occasionally second which wasn't good enough.
  8. We've been loyal to riders for the last decade and won bugger all. Rathbone is different but has been a bit like a kid in a sweetshop, but it's new to him and I wouldn't by a raffle ticket off the rest of the managent team if they're influencing. If Rathbone continues then he needs to get it right at the start (another thing Panthers haven't done for a decade) and be a bit less knee jerk. Having said that, he hasn't had much luck and seems to have been firefighting to stay in contention, doing the best he could. Ashley Morris was probably one of the unluckiest riders to lose his place but he accepted the situation and appreciated the business and numbers game that speedway is. It's a shame that others can't do likewise.
  9. Talk's cheap. Riders will go for the best deal they can get, wherever that may be. He also said on the Peterborough mic (if my memory serves me right) that he didn't like the Scunthorpe track. So one assumes that he'll not be returning there either.
  10. Why not? I don't care whether it's affordable or a gamble. What difference does it make? Just tell it like it is. Can't imagine that Frost is chipping in but it may be a last hurrah before he offloads the club.
  11. PROMOTER Matt Ford is certain Back to the Future-fanatic Hans Andersen will rewind to his trail-blazing days at Poole Pirates – so much so he has committed to a two-year deal for the Dane. Ford confirmed his first winter recruit is set to retain his place in Poole’s septet for 2017 “on the understanding British speedway does not throw up anything untoward in its rules” and will be granted a testimonial due to his standing on Peterborough’s retained list, currently held by Pirates (bournemouthecho/Speedway 21/10/15) That'd take a wealthy new owner or the return of Frost/Mahoney and neither of those eventualities will happen so we have what we have and will not be going anywhere as long as Rathbone continues when the disappointment clears,
  12. I don't think that he's 100% fit. He's not as bad as he's looked recently. If not fitness then something is wrong somewhere. Rathbone said that it's all affordable and that he wouldn't put the club in danger. Frost and Horton could be classed as chequebook speedway but Rathbone certainly isn't.
  13. Saturday pants in Peterborough if the forecast doesn't change, otherwise it's fine all the way.
  14. Can't beat an EL bitch fest though compared to the lower league cack that has once again kicked on this fine (yes that's fine Cumbria calling!) morning Not so mellow Rodders
  15. Well that'd clear a space on the forum because there's no way that'd be on the front page, although it would be a PL track record so the EL one would still stand
  16. In an ideal world maybe but riders have to take whatever work is available and the list of available riders of sufficient standard for clubs to choose from isn't often great at any given moment. As Panthers found out with Andersen and Batchelor with Swindon in 2012: if you choose not to use riders that you think you have a claim on then tough, don't expect any favours from those riders in opposition. Premier League football has ample resources and funds not to be dim enough to follow the speedway model, although they would think twice about loaning out players who could play against them. Something speedway has got right one might say!
  17. Hardly new though is it. That's the way it is and has been for a long time. Premier League football has taken over the comedy mantle as they loan out players who can't play against them but can shaft their rivals.
  18. I'd give it up, they're like a dog with a bone! Plummer could get a mention in Swanny's World of Sport with that one
  19. So you're saying that yesterday afternoon declaring that the Rockets match was cancelled but the Comets match was going ahead would have shut you up? I doubt that that would have satisfied you and your like minds
