Wolves V Kings Lynn Koc 26th June 17
Mimmo replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Unfortunately everybody seems to make this assumption, yet there are a great many older people, including myself, that don't dabble in social media, apart from in my case Facebook. I don't have a mobile phone, other than the sort you can make a call or text on (Pay as you go). I wouldn't have a clue how to use Twitter or Instagram, nor to be honest do I want to know. You've only got to watch people in the streets, public places (i.e. theatres, sports arena's etc), public transport, passengers in cars (sometimes drivers), it's taken over their lives, and they don't seem to speak to anybody anymore. I bet half of them don't even know who their next door neighbour is. -

Mimmo replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Having been a speedway follower since 1958, my wife has always been understanding about my nights at the track when she's not with me. But a couple of times this year, she's dropped gentle hints, with tongue in cheek, suggesting I might be seeing another woman as I'm so late getting home, in comparison to when we visit places like Peterborough for example, together. Last night was very uncomfortable for me when I got home, as she did accept my excuse for being so late, but let me know in no certain terms that she couldn't understand why it doesn't happen when we are at venues together, barring accidents of course. As far as I know, it's the referees job to keep meetings moving along, so I can't understand why that isn't happening. I'm now working on my next excuse!! -

You forgot to mention the Thunderstorms that are forecast. -
Well done to everybody at Mildenhall for not trying to pull the wool over our eyes, and coming into the car park to advise us of the on going situation. I know it was much appreciated by those of us waiting, and the kind gesture of Kevin Jolly, Phil Kirk and the riders wandering amongst us, giving us all bottles of ice cold water, was something they needn't have done, but did. Utmost respect for the way the club handled this situation.

Quite right, it is R/R tonight. -
Kings Lynn Stars Vs Rye House 07/06/17
Mimmo replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The wind has got a lot worse here in Heacham, and it would most certainly pose a danger to the riders if it were to be this bad tonight. -

So much looking forward to tonight's meeting, and just hope that the high winds don't cause the meeting to be postponed, especially as they are far stronger than the last time we lost a meeting through much lesser conditions. -
ABSOLUTELY GUTTED, THIS IS MY SADDEST SPEEDWAY DAY SINCE THE CLOSURES OF WIMBLEDON & BOSTON.
-
Strange really how we all have different opinions. Rob (Lyon) thought Rye House probably deserved a point. The main thing is that we took maximum points, in what was the most entertaining meeting for possibly the past couple of years......in my opinion.
-
You're quite right, Danny flipped at the gate, and was in serious pain, as we could all hear. Hope the lad makes a swift recovery.
-
That would be a great move, as I still think the NL offers better value for money than the other two leagues, so fingers crossed on that one.

Kings Lynn V Reading 1990 Gold Cup
Mimmo replied to simbo1968's topic in Souvenirs & Memorabilia etc
I was filming for MBI Video in those days, and I don't have a recollection of doing this meeting. You could check out I think it's classicspeedwayvideos.com. Apologies if that isn't the correct address, but it's something like that. -

I will be hot legging it back from my now wasted 4-day break in Eastbourne for this, so hope the motorways behave, and the weather is fine. -
£177 the hotel has cost me, so I'll still have to go. Add to that the cost of fuel etc., absolute shambles. I've been told it's through lack of medical cover, which I find hard to believe, as the fixture has always been on the list for that date, to the best of my knowledge. VERY UNHAPPY...and BROKE!!
-
Thanks Stevec Yes, I've just looked at the fixture list on the Eastbourne website and it says OFF. Unfortunately I tend to look at my own clubs website(King's Lynn), and as I type this, it doesn't mention that the meeting is off, in fact the fixtures list still shows it as being on. I'm finally through with travelling to anymore away meetings, it's just to much money down the drain,
-
I've just been told that the Eastbourne v Young Stars meeting on Saturday has been called off too, although neither club nor the BSPA have mentioned it on their websites. I've booked a hotel for 4-days down there, so as to take in the meeting, and it was non-refundable as from midnight last night!!
-
I've just been told that this Saturdays meeting has been called off due to lack of medical cover, is this true? Neither club website nor the BSPA website have made any mention of it.
-
Excellent posting from James Easter, and it's great to know that both clubs became so united together with all the events of the afternoon. Speedy recovery to Danny.
-
Hope he's okay, as Halifaxtiger said, absolutely horrible.
-
Really got to question having just read that R/R is being used for Phillips as to whether it's worth the expense of travelling to see this one.
