STR CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND – KING'S LYNN (11th August 2013) Once again there was a sizeable crowd for this entertaining STR meeting. Some people I spoke to had travelled up from as far as Folkestone in Kent, and enjoyed both the racing and the blazing heat bottled and saved for the Norfolk Arena. Sadly however, the meeting has to be brought to a sudden and premature end following an alarming crash in the 'Intermediate A' Final, involving Luke Barnes and Rod Woodhouse. The outcome was that two county ambulances were summoned in addition to the previously called paramedic, with finally the Air Ambulance required. Luke Barnes was taken off to the local hospital with a suspected broken collar-bone, whilst the injuries to Woodhouse are not known at this moment in time. He was concious and talking to all the medical staff, so that's a positive note. So, let's hope for a speedy recovery to both riders. NOVICE CLASS 1. Joe Burdekin 0-1-0-N = 1 2. I have no complaints about the quality of the racing last night, in fact I thoroughly enjoyed it. What a stupid thing for Mick Bates to say about looking for lights not flags, if that is true. What other reason are the flags there for??? As 'BossMan' said, Leicester were on an 8-1 and looked as though they were going to hold onto it, yes a very unprofessional decision by the referee. My only gripe, although I can't really complain, because I chose to make the long return journey, was the over the top admission price to get in, but then I knew that before I went, and as somebody else has said, you can't take it with you, so you might as well spend it. I was impressed with the speed at which we got through proceedings last night, and of course for Len having that car park hole filled at long last. Good luck to both sides at Leicester tonight. -

If you haven't already done so, please go onto the Scunthorpe website and read the 'PrayforRicky' statement put on there today. Their promoter has really poured his heart and feelings out in public, and at the age of nearly seventy, brought me to tears, and I'm being serious. He's spoken and written with such emotion and feeling, and I take my hat off to you Mr Godfrey a million times over, for opening up and exposing yourself to world the as a kind and caring human being. Thank you very much for that, we all take life for granted, and your statement has opened my eyes, lets pray that Ricky's do the same thing. Mike Moseley (King's Lynn).

Looking forward to this meeting, do any locals know what the weather forecast for that area is tomorrow please. Due to a commitment elsewhere during the day, I've got to leave home at 9.00am, and I'm not one of these modern jack the lads with an Ipad or Iphone.......to thick to understand how to use them!! -
Njl Riders Championship - Redcar
Mimmo replied to boz's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Thanks for that info Laurence, it's refreshing to know that there are a handful of us interested in publicising these Junior Leagues as much as possible. It's just a shame that other people that could provide a similar service, show little or no interest in doing so. These leagues are for the benefit of the long term future of British Speedway, and we should be really pushing these youngsters names, not hiding them away in short messages on Facebook or Twitter. It seems the world starts and ends with those two media outlets now, and that's both a shame and wrong IMO. Anyway mate, you keep humming the tune, and I'll sing it.......Twitters won't have a clue what I'm talking about -

A good service boz, one that I appreciate very much, as those who are prepared to give detailed results of NJL events are extremely rare. Heaven only knows when usually there are only four heats to type out. So thanks once again. Was this the final of the NJL Riders' Championship, or was it tied up with the Northern Open Championship, this league is all a bit confusing due to proper publicity? -

You're more than welcome Laurence, always happy to post full MDL results as and when I see a meeting. The service being provided on Facebook is just not comprehensive enough, by a long shot. Do you by chance know if there is a staging date for Milton Keynes v King's Lynn yet, or has it been staged with no results published? Regards Mike -

Can anybody please tell me the programmed line-up for Northside in riding order please? I'm hearing that it was 1) Glyn Picken 2) Kyle Deans 3) No Rider. But looking at heat details on Facebook, Picken doesn't appeared to have ridden in Heat 1 but no reason given as to why not. Facebook is such a mess when it comes to providing accurate race details, and it's such a shame they don't get publish on the BSF very often. Thank you in advance if anybody can help.

Thanks for that Phil, presumably with a Midday start. I've booked a motel now that date has been confirmed, because the NLRC is at Rye House the previous evening. Keep up the hard work with those kids, you and Neil are doing the sport proud. Best Wishes, Mike -

Could either Neil Vatcher or Phil Morris OFFICIALLY confirm this new date of the 22nd September please, as I need to book a motel if it's correct. Thank You. -

Hi 'gustix', I won't give you an adverse reaction. I've seen all but one round of the British Youth Championships this year, as has been the case the previous 2-years, and these kids apart from hopefully being a big part of British speedway's future, are a joy to watch. Their whole approach is so professional, and there are no gaps between races, as soon as one heat finishes, the riders for the next race are on their way to tapes. There are normally approximately 50-races for £5 and meetings are usually completed within 3-hours. The entire British Youth set-up is run so efficiently by Neil Vatcher & Phil Morris, and EVERYBODY involved in the running of this tournament, no matter what the venue, are a credit to the sport they are representing. Obviously 'Central Park' is a far superior stadium to 'The Old Gun Site', in fact I personally think that as a venue, it wouldn't be out of place in the Elite League, although the car park isn't really big enough possibly. But Iwade (The Old Gun Site) has a lovely family feel about it, and on a nice sunny and warm day, is one of my favourite venues in the country to visit, along with Buxton and Scunthorpe. If finances permit I'll do both, but if the Kent v Wimbledon meeting happens on either the 9th or 16th September, then I couldn't afford it, because the day before the suggested 22nd September staging of the BYC, the NLRC is taking place at Rye House, and it would be cheaper for me to stop over after that meeting, and just nip into Kent next morning. The only worry is, that the later into the season we get, the cooler it becomes, and Iwade is not the place to be on a cold or damp day, not with my creaky bones!! Thanks DB, I'm in a quandary like 'cityrebel' and didn't want to miss either of the spoken about meetings, but sadly it looks as though I'll now have to. You realise you'll be getting a programme request in all probability?? Will you be at the NA next Wednesday or not, I've got some lovely key-rings Cheers MM -

Derek, Do you know where I can get OFFICIAL confirmation that the BYC is to be held at Iwade on the 22nd September. The reason for asking is because it's the NLRC at Rye House the previous evening, and it would make sense to book a motel rather than try and undertake two trips, that is if the wife will give me my pocket money early Mike -

I didn't know that 'Parsloes', so thanks for letting me know. Sadly that would mean me going to Iwade and having to miss the Kent v Wimbledon fixture, as my pocket at this moment in time wouldn't allow two trips to the Garden of England, and I wouldn't want to miss the British Youth Championship. -
Rye House V Leicester Saturday 10.08.13
Mimmo replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Think I will come down to this now that the Kent v Wimbledon fixture is not taking place on Monday. I've been quite critical of Rye House at times in years gone by, but must admit to enjoying my visits now, and am sure this will turn out to be another good race meeting around the Hoddesdon Raceway, or Rye House Stadium, which ever official title it has. Also going to make the visit of Bank Holiday Monday when Berwick are in town, along with the 125cc Youth Championship which I'm especially looking forward to. Having travelled round the country a bit this year in support of the British Youth Championship, which is so brilliantly organised by Neil Vatcher & Phil Morris, watching these kids race is a joy to behold, their parents must be so proud of them. So fingers crossed for nice weather this Saturday, and a nice evening out. -

Looking at the website, it looks like the next available Monday is the 9th September, and what a great weekend that would be if the match against Wimbledon was to be held then, as that would afford travellers like myself, the opportunity to attend the final and deciding round of the British Youth Championship at Iwade on Sunday, stop over the night, and go to Central Park on the Monday. -

That's what I was typing Rob, but it turned itself into rubbishe. I'm having real problems posting on this forum, because when I hit the return key, it won't drop down to the next line for me. Any other forum I post on, everything is okay, it's just the BSF. -

Spot on 'Triple H', and that's the very reason I'm making the journey from King's Lynn to Sittingbourne, to cheer on old club Wimbledon, and hopefully see some Dons fans I used to mix with on the Plough Lane terraces before I moved away from the London area. Of course there won't be much connection with the previous Wimbledon sides, but watching Elite League racing this year, and that does include my own team King's Lynn, we generally finish up watching a 'Select' side anyway, albeit for genuine reasons. In my eyes that's no different to watching a Wimbledon 'Select'. Our line-up at the Norfolk Arena tomorrow is: - 1) Guest or R/R 2) Lasse Bjerre (Only just returned) 3) Mads Korneliussen 4) Richie Worrall 5) Guest or R/R 6) Nicklas Porsing 7) Kozza Smith (Guest).;........hardly Elite League........hardly King's Lynn, but at the end of the day it's all speedway racing, whatever you call it, which is the sport I thought we all supported.
