  1. Think I will come down to this now that the Kent v Wimbledon fixture is not taking place on Monday. I've been quite critical of Rye House at times in years gone by, but must admit to enjoying my visits now, and am sure this will turn out to be another good race meeting around the Hoddesdon Raceway, or Rye House Stadium, which ever official title it has. Also going to make the visit of Bank Holiday Monday when Berwick are in town, along with the 125cc Youth Championship which I'm especially looking forward to. Having travelled round the country a bit this year in support of the British Youth Championship, which is so brilliantly organised by Neil Vatcher & Phil Morris, watching these kids race is a joy to behold, their parents must be so proud of them. So fingers crossed for nice weather this Saturday, and a nice evening out.
  2. Looking at the website, it looks like the next available Monday is the 9th September, and what a great weekend that would be if the match against Wimbledon was to be held then, as that would afford travellers like myself, the opportunity to attend the final and deciding round of the British Youth Championship at Iwade on Sunday, stop over the night, and go to Central Park on the Monday.
  3. That's what I was typing Rob, but it turned itself into rubbishe. I'm having real problems posting on this forum, because when I hit the return key, it won't drop down to the next line for me. Any other forum I post on, everything is okay, it's just the BSF.
  4. Oh rubbishe!! That was supposed to say 'Oh rubbishe' What's going on with these postings of mine, once again I'm trying to say 'Oh rubbishe' I give up, you probably know what I'm trying to say.
  5. Spot on 'Triple H', and that's the very reason I'm making the journey from King's Lynn to Sittingbourne, to cheer on old club Wimbledon, and hopefully see some Dons fans I used to mix with on the Plough Lane terraces before I moved away from the London area. Of course there won't be much connection with the previous Wimbledon sides, but watching Elite League racing this year, and that does include my own team King's Lynn, we generally finish up watching a 'Select' side anyway, albeit for genuine reasons. In my eyes that's no different to watching a Wimbledon 'Select'. Our line-up at the Norfolk Arena tomorrow is: - 1) Guest or R/R 2) Lasse Bjerre (Only just returned) 3) Mads Korneliussen 4) Richie Worrall 5) Guest or R/R 6) Nicklas Porsing 7) Kozza Smith (Guest).;........hardly Elite League........hardly King's Lynn, but at the end of the day it's all speedway racing, whatever you call it, which is the sport I thought we all supported.
  6. Any heat details you could share with me please LR. Ta much. MM Okay Laurence, just remembered that LE have a website with the details. Thanks
  7. Have to agree 'whippy' the back of the Young Stars race-jacket is terrible when trying to look at the numbering. They need to be in either white or yellow, but blue on black just doesn't go from a distance.......or even close up with my bins!!
  8. Great service once again 'kevcfc', even if no one else does, I can assure you it's something GREATLY appreciated by myself. Thank You.
  9. It's unfortunate that Master Lambert seems destined to be never available for weekend meetings which of course isn't very satisfactory for team morale surely. As for Steve Worrall, he's hardly set the world alight since first joining, and it was interesting to see Jake Knight practicing and having photos taken today, so I'd have an educated guess that it's a case of watch this space over the course of the next few days. Might be wrong, but somehow don't think so.
  10. Great news to hear that you had a better attendance last night, and well done to the promotion for promoting (i.e posters around town), it obviously helped. It's something the promotion at King's Lynn spend a lot of time doing, and pays substantial dividends at the turnstiles. Many a time I've spoken to people who are holidaying in nearby Hunstanton, or even father afield, like Cromer or Skegness, who have either see roadside advertising when passing through to their holiday destination, or in a lot of cases have found leaflets in the Tourist Information Centres, and Hotel Lobbies, and as a result have come along for something to do in the evening. The majority of those people haven't been speedway people, but just looked on it as a different sort of night out, particularly with theatre prices being so expensive these days, and usually for second rate shows. Whether they've ever followed it up by attending their local track when they get home, I don't know, but it would be nice to think they did. Even if an extra ten people turned up every week as a result of the advertising, over the course of a season, that's enough extra revenue to cover a bill or two. With regards to your comment about not much passing but entertaining, that's good news too. Of course we all would like to see great racing with lots of passing, but at the end of the day it's important that a speedway track remains open and viable, the quality of the racing is of secondary importance, providing those other than us hardcore fans will understand that too. Towns & Cities are losing to many of their entertainment facilities, and if we're not careful, they'll be nothing left for people to do, other than sit in front of their PC's etc., a direction a lot of the younger generation already seem to be heading in. Okay enough waffle from me, I'm off to support the King's Lynn 'Young Stars' at Mildenhall this afternoon. We've got a seriously depleted team, but hey, we'll probably get whalloped, but it doesn't matter a good crowd turns up, and we see some safe and interesting racing. Win, lose or draw it doesn't matter, it's an afternoon/evening at the speedway. Finally, I once again send all my best wishes to simply EVERYBODY especially to those close to Ricky and himself, that when he's woken up, that it will be onwards and upwards for him, no matter how long it takes. I'll be thinking of him this afternoon, whilst I watch others risking danger, all in the name of entertainment for us punters.
  11. I've had my breakfast and woken up properly now. Yep, made up my mind that my wife and I will be there to cheer on the Young Stars, so Mr S1, along with you, your son and a friend of mine, there will be five of us there!!
  12. Bad time from a King's Lynn point of view to have to visit Mildenhall, as there determination to win this afternoon will be paramount after falling to Buxton last time out. Such a shame too that we've once again got to travel to an away meeting with an understrength side, but I guess in fairness, the Fen Tigers aren't at full power either. Fingers crossed for a safe meeting for both sets of riders, and like em150uk, I'm a little undecided whether to go now.......but probably will........I thinkl!!!
  13. Despite the negativity being shown at times, I'm really looking forward to the meeting despite the long journey from the other side of King's Lynn, and I don't give one iota who's riding, as long as Derek Barclay isn't riding, team managing, announcing, writing, editing or selling the programme, running the track shop, serving in the refreshment outlets, showing people to the seating areas, being an emergency paramedic or doctor. Oh, or timekeeper, Track Curator, Press Officer, Website manager, Track Photographer, Clerk of the Course, Pit Marshall, Start Marshall, Flag Marshall, Tractor or Grader Driver, Machine Examiner, Health & Safety Officer, Incident Recorder or assistant and car park attendant. DO THEY HAVE TOILET ATTENDANTS?? Can't wait..................COME ON YOU DONS!! Looking forward to seeing you really Parsloes 1928, as there are very few fixtures that would make me take up the challenge of the M11, M25 and M2, then those motorways in reverse order to back home again. Is a CM with Crayford in the pipeline at all
  14. At times like this, results of matches are unimportant, if you win, you win, and if you lose, you lose, it's not the end of the world. What is important as has been relayed above, is the well being of Ricky. Although last nights accident was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, it's extremely worrying when we are seeing such a huge amount of experienced riders being injured this season. Is it an issue with the silencers that are creating such devastation, because the amount of what can now be classed as serious injuries seems to be far greater than I can remember in years gone by, and that's without the so called safer fences these days. Something must be creating this situation, and it's something that MUST be addressed sooner rather than later. Anyway, I'm sure I speak on behalf of all fellow King's Lynn supporters, when I send love and best wishes to Ricky and his family, not forgetting all you 'Bandits' riders, management and supporters.
  15. Hi Rob, I've been having problems finding my way round the Scunthorpe site this season (probably my age!) , but did finally come across what I was looking for this morning. Thanks however for posting this info. I've just got home, and once again the youngsters put on a terrific show. What a capture those 'Spiller' boys are going to be for someone>
  16. You don't have to try, it comes as a natural thing with him. doesn't it DB? Just off to Scunthorpe now for the British Youth Championship, so hope the weather holds, as it will give me a chance to meet some friends from Carlisle & Workington who are making the journey. All the Best.
  17. Okay thanks. The weather doesn't look to bad here in Norfolk. so think I may take a chance and undertake the journey. The wife likes to visit Brigg Garden Centre anyway, but it's a long way just for that!! Fingers crossed all will be okay.
  18. Jeremy Pestell is riding in the Midland Development League. Maybe Justin Elkins could be talked out of retirement
  19. Oh jeez...................I'd rather listen to Bryn................but there again!!!!
  20. I'm sorry that you have problems that are probably pretty obvious to me, as when the situation is not right, I also have difficulty. At this point I will stop all conversations with you over the rights and wrongs of using defunct club names, and offer you my best wishes. Yeah New Cross, that was another great place to watch speedway, and offered a great vantage point for watching the riders in the pits. I have many old black & white photos that I took there back in the late 50's and early 60's of people like Ronnie Moore, Peter Craven, Ove Fundin, Jack Young, Split Waterman, Ray Cresp, Cyril Brine, Ron How and so the list goes on. Happy days and memories eh? Keep well, and I hope you get to see as many meetings as possible when circumstances permit.
  21. There doesn't seem to be any mention of this meeting that I understand is scheduled for Scunthorpe tomorrow, is it still on. I've looked at the Scunthorpe website, but find any detailed news on there about the event. If it is on, does anybody have the line-up, and more importantly as I intend travelling to it, is the local weather forecast favourable? Thanks in anticipation of any official news that might be announced.
  22. Fully agree 'Parsloes 1928 nearly', and I will be travelling from my Norfolk home to support the Wimbledon side (sorry Kent fans!!). I understand what 'gustix' is saying, although I don't personally agree with him, and can only assume that if this meeting turns out to have no connections with the previous regime, then he won't be attending, which would be a shame. If he's a former 'Dons' fan as both you and I are, then I'd have thought he'd be delighted to see the famous name take to track once again. But despite whatever you tart a meeting up as, it shouldn't really matter, because if you're a true speedway fan, it doesn't matter one iota as long as you've still got the sport to watch. Good luck to those who are putting this event together, it's made me postpone other arrangements that I had made for the 12th August. COME ON YOU 'DONS'........okay and 'KINGS'!!
  23. But 'gustix' you're quote on the forum about a meeting I attended last Sunday was: - Well I just wonder why these club/team names are used like this - no actual link to the original clubs or the areas they represented. Will we soon be seeing Stamford Bridge versus High Beech in this type of racing? I don't detract anything from those who participate in these meetings and wish them as organsiers and riders every success - but surely using old club names has no creditable value? So why does using the name Wimbledon (a team I've supported all my life) have any creditable value if the likes of Exeter etc don't?
  24. Yes 'gustix' there were and always are some supporters there. In fact if you were to check out Scunthorpe, & Northside you'd find they they get quite a few attending. I know for a fact that one family travel from Peterborough to Northside meetings, and they don't have any family members involved, they are purely supporters.
  25. Yep, I'm with you on that Bryn, although I do respect the thoughts of Gustix too. Stamford Bridge v High Beech.......what a great idea
