  1. It would be a massive departure from the norm for The Aces to drop a rider, especially so early in the season. We don’t need to anyway as essentially we only need more league points than Kings Lynn to make the play offs and this current team should do that. Once there, anything can happen as we know only too well to our cost in 2021 & 2023.
  2. Obviously as a Belle Vue fan I think it’s a bad thing. Just looking at the current lineup, why should we bother bringing on riders like Dan, Jaimon & Norick only to see them move on with no compensation. However my opinion changed when thinking of all the other riders we’ve brought on that weren’t assets like Brady, Max, Tom etc. We get the short to mid term benefit with these riders but then get to see them flourish and provide a better over all league. We can’t race ourselves after all. Our business model is one I wholeheartedly agree with and would like to see adopted more widely. To see riders sign on 3,4.5 and 7.5 averages become GP stars we can all enjoy in our domestic league is fantastic and something we should all aspire to. The current issue of lack of riders in our league hasn’t happened accidentally. Too many clubs just cherry pick riders without any active involvement on rider development and whilst this may pay dividends for the odd season the effect on the entire league can be seen to be negative. Once again the bigger picture is just lost on British speedway.
  3. Been impressed with his performances at the NSS over the last seven years with his most recent being exceptional. A fine prospect, let’s look forward to the next seven years.
  4. Sheffield will look to capitalise on our vulnerabilities at the NSS again to replicate their win from last May. Those vulnerabilities were also exposed in the B fixture which ended in a last heat decider, I expect more of the same again tomorrow. Owlerton is our worst hunting ground when looking for wins, I’m just hoping our fine away form holds. Over our last 10 away meetings we’ve won 4 (curse that last heat at Leicester or the rain gods v the brummies that potentially saw us miss out on another 2) which is only matched by one other team. Facts taken from britishspeedway.co.uk
  5. Dan Thompson was their RS last year.
  6. Tate is still young, if fact only Ashton & Norick are younger and he’s in his first full UK season. It’s way too early to write him off as it is to say he’ll be another Aces World Champion. He’s a quick learner and once he gets a few more racing laps under his belt I’m hoping he’ll be fine. His gating isn’t great so the top flight gate’n’go league will hold him back away from the NSS but hopefully that will improve with age.
  7. Good to see Rew top score again, every meeting bar one so far this season. Different rider and the one silver lining for Birmingham.
  8. I’m of the opinion that it wasn’t clear. https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-guide-birmingham-h/ Did anyone know the qualification method before parting with their money to attend or watch the stream? If yes and there’s a link to this I’ll happily concede the point. You seem a decent poster, hand on heart how would you read the meaning of “featuring the top scorers from both teams.” I’ve watched this sport for over 50 years and until now I thought I knew what that meant.
  9. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/event/42637/ Danny King 10 above Ace Piper 11. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/event/42636 Steve Worrall 9 above Jake Allen 11 Connor Mountain 8 & Luke Harrison 8 above Zaine Kennedy 9. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/event/42944/ Ben Morley 9 above Darryl Ritchings 10. Bye!
  10. It’s also the way reporters list the riders scores and have done for decades, 8+1 trumps 7+2 everybody knows this. It’s just someone changing the system in a vain attempt to suit their argument. Bizarre.
  11. This is what I have to put up with. I get the trolls will trip themselves up whilst creating their imagined reality but I expect a level of consistency from the same poster. I don’t think you’re a troll and we can put this down as a mistake but please can I ask for a little less attitude and insults, we’re all (hopefully) speedway fans and can discuss things on here in a civilised manner.
  12. It’s not difficult to provide that information in the press release advertising the event. It just reads “top scores from both teams” so that’s what you expect. It’s all well and good you now informing us of the caveats (plural) for the event. I’m still yet to see this in writing from the club themselves so will stick with their last comment - top scores from both teams. They should have said riders from both teams will be represented instead of top scorers. Speedway once again over promise and under deliver. I’m in agreement with you about Dan and also agree that both Jason & Emil turned it down. You’ll probably need a tin hat with you airing opinions like that one here as the trolls will descend with their insults and obnoxious behaviour.
  13. “Jason Doyle top scored with 11+1.” 😆😆 https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-report-ipswich-60-30-birmingham/ This post was brought to you by the Plain English Campaign.
  14. I don’t see their posts as they are blocked and I wasn’t at the meeting to hear the goalposts being moved. I believed this when I read it “there will be a ‘Champion of the Evening’ second half featuring the top scorers from both teams.” Also Jason was top scorer for the witches with or without bonus points.
  15. Fair play to Dan T and an Ace display from Tom. Emil & Jason were always going to bail as they have no alliance to Ipswich or Billy being megabucks hired hands. Really pleased with another ££££ big witches win, as are the Ipswich “faithful”.
  16. 011.2.1 Rising Stars A Rising Star who is no longer eligible will receive a 25% reduction on their Premiership League average. This 25% reduction will only apply on an initial Team Declaration in the Premiership League. For any subsequent declarations this discount will not apply.
  17. I watched Billy win his silver at the ‘83 world final. Egon’s win soon became inevitable but in an other universe Billy would have become a more than worthy world champ. Love this second half idea to commemorate his memory.
  18. One Aces fan retaliated to a sarcastic comment about the NSS track and mentioned it is one of the best tracks in the world. A common held belief in speedway circles. The Ipswich trolls descended . Sigh.
  19. You’d think something would have been invented to prevent riders having such poor visibility they have to remove their goggles altogether. Something I’ve seen more than a few times. Is our lack of rain offs due to the construction and drainage at the new track or the wonderfully mild and dry weather in Manchester?
  20. I only saw the U21 and yes it’s a good example. Plenty of rain leading up to it that would have seen many a meeting cancelled. The young lads that day really got stuck in despite the tricky conditions.
  21. The NSS can take a considerable amount of rain leading up to the event, riders however cannot race if it is raining for the duration of the event, as was forecast, due to the rain making vision impossible. It’s like driving on the motorway in the rain at 70mph without your wipers on.
  22. It’s the opposite of random as placing Max in first place in every race is what’s required to suit your argument. It’s not speculative, its just the maths required to see lions win. This is the problem for me. I unreasonably think everyone on a speedway forum should have the same forensic knowledge of the history and statistics of the sport, especially when it’s now all available with a few clicks. Apologies if I appear short with you.
  23. It’s the maths where you move Max up and everyone moves down, including his team mate. A 5-1 to the lions with Max in second would remain a 5-1. A 5-1 to The Aces with Max last would change to a 3-3, so it plus 2 to the lions not 3. Go through the programme and move Max up in his heats and let me know what you get. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/event/belle-vue-aces-v-leicester-lions/ https://britishspeedway.co.uk/event/leicester-lions-v-belle-vue-aces-4/
  24. Max would have needed to score a 30 point maximum for the lions to win the tie by 2 points in a last heat decider. It takes a very special rider to do that and the fact Max didn’t shouldn’t see him vilified. Max was absolutely not the reason the lions lost the tie but he was absolutely the reason they were there in the first place.
