  1. It would help him win GP’s at the technical indoor tracks like Cardiff.
  2. This has been me the last 24hrs since I found out we have a place at the top table. Taken nearly 100 years. It is true isn’t it and not just BS? Does that mean the cheating stops or do we need to start cheating to fit in?
  3. Poole did that with Crump whilst The Aces were in the process of being rescued. Left us in the mire a bit that season. Ipswich cut from the same cloth, unfortunately.
  4. Oh yes, forgot about moneybags Ipswich. 😡
  5. It’s only 3.91 for the first month, then it reverts to 5.21. I fully expect Anders to be kicked out at this point and replaced with a rider 5+.
  6. Just get one of your riders reassessed to make it fit, like before.
  7. Many thanks for the full and frank explanation. I understand now why you refuted the rule breaking - maybe. It obvious again that rules mean as much to fans as speedway does to the main stream media or big ticket sponsors. The only silver lining is we can add the Glasgow number 4 into the mix to be our RS next season.
  8. Why? The way I see it using the rule book and published facts is below. If it’s another Ipswich under the table rule change I wasn’t aware of then I apologise. Any links would be appreciated as I can add it into my old set of rules. 010.2.2 Any other (non British) rider with an established average, cannot drop below 4.00 in the Premiership or Championship Leagues at any time during the season. This happened with Kenyan last year where he spent almost all season below 4 but for team declaration purposes he remained a 4. James’ PL average was below 4 but due to him being a (young) Aussie like Kenyan he was uplifted to a 4. 4 is bigger than 3.74 which was the average of the rider being replaced which is not allowed if applying the rule book.
  9. He is Australia and doesn’t have the UK family connections of say Connor Bailey, if he had he would have been an RS. He was illegal and it was just another case of team building rules being sidestepped for Ipswich again. James is an Aces asset so if the witches want this one, they’ll have to pay.
  10. Regarding Rew, The Aces won’t get anyway near what Ipswich are offering. We could have upped our offer but we spent it on the Colts and bringing on juniors. Enjoy Tom. As Birmingham CEO Nigel Tolley said: “When you look at the stats, Tom is one of, if not the fastest progressing young British rider since Covid. “His performances meant he was the first ever Rising Star to move into the main body of a team, and even last season he produced some really big scores as a second string for Belle Vue.
  11. Best riders Belle Vue have recently snapped up Brady 7.50 Ben 6.00 Max 4.80 Jaimon 4.00 Tom 4.00 Norick 4.00 Dan 3.00. The fact most weren’t interested in them at the time we signed them made it easier for us to “snap them up”.
  12. The form of the lions leading up to us meeting on the final was pretty much identical to The Aces. Perception of the two teams skewed how each teams form was judged. Leicester were on point whilst The Aces were just being The Aces. wwwwlwlwlw wwwwllwwlw
  13. Please let us know how you would do it? You mentioned we need to change the weather but hand on heart we’re going to struggle with that.
  14. If I owned a club and there was several hundred away fans at £20+ a head, I’d be celebrating with them to ££££..
  15. I agree. Are Polish 1st division riding all fixtures on a Thursday or just the TV ones?
  16. It’s actually our fault (The Aces) as we brokered a deal so as to allow Dan to return in 2022. The BSPL scuppered it as they didn’t like Dan signing for us at the eleventh hour when all other teams were complete and unable to take advantage of the polish league lads at such short notice. Dan leaked this on social media and got a swift rebuke from Godfrey. We then rushed Zagar through, which again irked the BSPL as they had laughed saying good luck with getting that visa sorted any time soon. We didn’t know the future plans for the polish leagues and the issue with Thursday wasn’t there back then. The BSPL were happy to agree to the deal the following season and take advantage of a new batch of riders.
  17. I was happy with the 9 o’clock finish which seems inline with other tracks out there, maybe slightly better. Havoc? I was there and missed it. Please elaborate. I would imagine it will go down similar to all the World Cup, SON, British Finals, Play Off finals etc have gone down. Don’t forget to order a new axe for next season.
  18. The only riders that would move Max out of your number one position that he apparently cannot adequately fill are Doyle and Kurtz. Lions Christmas list. 1. Better number one. 2 The moon on a stick.
  19. Peter Craven at Belle Vue. https://www.scbgb.co.uk/download.php?view.11236 Daydreaming - 1 lap dash as that’s all that’s needed in modern day speedway at most tracks.
  20. Ulrich was number 2 in the averages and on the team sheet at the time of the final. He upped his average whilst at reserve being 0.07 above 4th in the team Harris. This meant all riders could take an RR ride at Alwalton, in essence replacing a reserve, strengthening the Panthers. (Only dropped a point to the opposition). Whilst Aces fans mentioned missing Kurtz it’s probably more accurate to say, two full strength teams with no injuries would have seen The Aces take their third win of the season at Alwalton. It wasn’t meant to be and it’s just another one of the many unfortunate silver medals in our collection.
  21. I bet Mark thought the same thing about Max at the SON. 5 ride max v Sheffield week before and 15+1 week after. Priorities with the lions rather than the roos. Or maybe he just had a bad night.
  22. Belle Vue doing it different again. All the fans go on the bus and the team waves from the kerb.
  23. It was at the 1979 InterContinental Final at London's White City. Ivan and Finn Thomsen had both finished on 10 points, so a run-off for third place was needed. Ivan gated and led all the way until the very last bend when his bike had an engine failure. Or so we all thought. He deliberately shut his throttle off because he didn't want to finish third. He knew the rider who finished third would have two rides on the trot in the World Final and Ivan didn't want that. I would wager the other 15 riders that day would not have known that. Such was his attention to detail that he missed out on a podium finish and prize money because he saw the bigger picture. It certainly paid off because the great man won his record-breaking sixth World Final that year. Legend!
  24. They say you’re only as good as your last performance and that’s certainly true of Max. To say he goes missing at the big meetings is a little bit unfair. You’ve only had the semi-final and the final that you could term as big meetings and in the semi-final, he did excellent and pretty much got you into the final. It’s always going to be difficult when you’re up against a top two like The Aces have, same with Ipswich had their top two been in play, Max is number three in the averages for a reason and that reason is he’s an excellent rider. He had two rough nights at the wrong time but that’s no reason to condemn him as a poor rider.
