Barker & Worrall In Argentina
DutchGrasstrack replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
The Russian kid seems to have no problems at all. He told speedway-press.ru about his journey so far, and there is no mention of the 'horror' the two British riders had. He's happy to take this opportunity, and it payed off with a great second place in the first round. -

Barker & Worrall In Argentina
DutchGrasstrack replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
I believe that Bulgarian Milen Manev is also there, he was there last year as well. So probably he does not have problems with this Argentinian championship .... -
Does anyone know what this is all about? http://www.lanueva.com/deportes/792849/el-inicio-del-speedway--opacado-por-la-ausencia-de-los-pilotos-ingleses.html ( translation) http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/490546/gdzie-sie-podziali-brytyjscy-zuzlowcy-czyzby-poszli-w-argentynskie-tango ( translation) It appears that Barker and Worrall were supposed to race in the Argentinian championship this winter (about 15 meetings), but they seem to have left the country without notifying anyone of the organisation ?? UPDATE Worrall just posted a message on Facebook: "They Argentinian federation (mullet) 100% knows where we are and why we left.. The place is dangerous and they get you out there then tell you everything you have to pay for. So we left. Not much more to it. The place is a circus. So anyone that's worried because of the press release they done, don't be! We're safe and still have my money in my pocket"

The stadium would be great for speedway, although the track they put in it for the flattrack event was a bit small. Don't think they can get a bigger track in it, plus the track was also quite narrow. But the stadium is perfect, great facilities for the fans and good press facilities for us media people as well. Plenty of room for the riders to set up their paddock. Stadium is indeed close to the city center and very easy accessible for the fans. I flew into Barcelona airport, got on bus to the center (15 mins, Pl. Espanya) and from there I had to walk 25 minutes to the stadium (Palau Saint Jordi). Little update: Sven Holstein will not race at all this season. Budget and time problems. Plus the fact that the KNMV did not enter a team in the Team Cup and also no start-places in the Euro's. -

Lineup for Hallstavik: Antonin Klatovsky (CZ) Max Niedermaier (DE) Hans Weber (DE) Markus Birn (CH) Rene Stellingwerf (NL) ? (NL) Miroslaw Daniszewski (PL) ? (RU) ? (NO) ? (AT) ? (AT) ? (FI) ? (FI) ? (SE) ? (SE) ? (SE) --- 17. reserve 1 (SE) 18. reserve 2 (SE) Dirk Werkman was supposed to ride for NL in Hallstavik but he broke his leg last weekend while practicing with the Dutch youth team (6 riders). Therefore Sven Holstein will go to Sweden (if it goes ahead). -
They said indeed that Togliatti would host in 2015 as well (press release), but as the opening round and that is now Torun. So I guess that the third round will be somewhere else

That's cool! Nice track and stadium as well

It's worth mentioning that the speedway stadium is a little bit out of town. There is a train stop (Gündlkofen) near enough to the track (30 minute walk). Google maps got the public transport included these days and they are a great help: https://www.google.nl/maps/dir/Munich+Airport,+Nordallee,+Munich,+Germany/G%C3%BCndlkofen,+Duitsland/@48.4563741,11.8886422,11z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x479e135923da6d45:0xe3c57a853a56cf4b!2m2!1d11.775028!2d48.353662!1m5!1m1!1s0x479e24d365952f4b:0xd3182970d5f40532!2m2!1d12.033642!2d48.526159!3e3?hl=nl

Short Track In Spain
DutchGrasstrack replied to a topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
Well what can I say... it was a fantastic event! Great racing and a big crowd, 9000 people according to a press release. Will definitely pop back to Barcelona again next year. -
I was a bit misinformed... it turns out that there are 6 permanent countries (Australia, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Sweden, USA). Each round will have a wildcard. Torun - Latvia Gustrow - Germany Esbjerg - TBA Great Britian will not take part, the pathetic BSPA did once again respond with a 'NO' to One Sport, although manager Alun Rossiter wanted to take part. EDIT: Little piece from the press release: "The second change concerns the participants – national teams. “This year we have 6 permanent participants – these are national teams of Australia, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the new one USA which is of course led by Greg Hancock. We will also give one wild card per each round – in Toruń the invitation will be given to Latvia, in Gustrow – Germany and the matter of the last participant of the tournament in Esbjerg will be cleared later. It won’t be definitely the national team of the Great Britain – this year we invited Brits again and, although riders and manager Alun Rossiter would like to start, BSPA has informed us that none of British riders will receive permission for starting in Speedway Best Pairs Cup also this season” – added the representatives of the organizer of SBPC."
