Let's get one thing straight, and put the violins down for a minute or two. It's a performance game and the aim is to win - that's what competition is about. Somerset have done what they believe will give them the best chance of this, and also as mentioned countless times already, financially the best decision in the wake of Nick Morris' popularity. All this 'I was doing them a favour' is rubbish - I would buy that if he wasn't being paid every week, but it's not like he was going to be doing it for free. It's clear Somerset was going to be used as a confidence booster, and as a 'trial' to improve his Wolves scores.

This should be good - enlighten me, what are the facts that 'we all know' about?
-
Just because Proctor has said he was told this or that, doesn't make it true. Same goes for the Somerset promotion, just because a press release says it doesn't make it all 100% true. However the one fact that we do know is that Somerset's preferred choice, not only the promotion but the fans aswell, is Nick Morris over Ty Proctor and that is all that really matters.

Is this the same Charles Wright who was the main turning point in our season last year, helping us to go on and win the League and Cup double... Something that never happened in all the time he spent at Workington - he's more than welcome in our 2014 team thank you
-
Well just to put your mind at rest, it's well known around the Oak Tree Arena that Nick, along with Jason Doyle are probably the two riders who are held in highest regard with the promotion - which has made the decisions over the winter months more difficult than ever.
-
The same goes for Nick Morris who originally had to make way after the Brady Kurtz fiasco. Now his availability has been drastically improved, as a member of our League winning team it seems only logical to reintroduce him. Don't forget Ty Proctor was set to miss various matches also for the Rebels and his signing probably couldn't of been met with much more disapproval from Somerset fans who were desperate to see Nick Morris brought back - who just for the record, is very popular at the Oak Tree Arena. A promotion looking after their fans. However..... The haters are going to hate!

Couldn't care less about Poole, but like I said we are now one good rider away from being contenders again. With the spare points we have remaining, it seems madness not to use them now no matter how harsh and ruthless it may appear.

I made this same suggestion to someone only a couple hours ago - imagine the uproar down Plymouth way if that happened!

Which Pl Team Will Nick Morris Join In June?
Najjer replied to Hamish McRaker's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He should never of had the oppertunity anyway, but that's another story for another day - the fact Nick is back is going to be massively welcomed all around Somerset for sure. -
Great news, and justice finally for Nick Morris also. It also now brings us well under the points limit so one more change and we all of a sudden look a big threat again - unbelievable really.
-
He's under more pressure than he perhaps should be, as we're now relying on him to come good if we stand any chance of being within a shout of the play offs.
-
As is quite often the case, the main team sponsor coughs up the dosh for team kevlars - they are the ones who are plastered all over the front of them.
-
I have every faith in Gary May, but only have faith in about 4 of our team that is actually going to be on track, and not just in the pits.
-
After the Kurtz scenario, Morris bombed out and then Doyle being forced out due to the visa issue.... The panic button was pushed a long time ago!

James Wright - Making A Comeback?
Najjer replied to skoobie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Even when he rode for Somerset, he was then too. The problem was as I mentioned a few weeks back on the 'most frustrating rider' thread - he would go from last to first, passing inside and outside against genuine heatleaders. The problem would be the following race when you need him at the end of the meeting to go and secure a race win, he would poddle round at the back behind a National League rider. So frustrating as like you said, he had/has bags of talent. -
Except that's a complete exaggeration....
-
He has - he was 'playing' in Burnham, 5 minutes from the speedway track only a couple of weeks ago!
-
Absolutely.
-
That's not as good as what you said at all - English Roundabout unless I am mistaken is disagreeing with your view that a team manager can play a massive part in proceedings. Riders should be self motivated, and if they aren't they are in the wrong job.
-
I 100% agree with your last line - however a team manager can do very little nowadays once a meeting has started. No one has ever doubted Gary's tactical ability, that has never come into question - the overall ability of the 7 riders now lining up for Somerset has come into question though amongst the majority of fans after seeing our 1-7 near enough completely demolished. For what it's worth I think both Brady and Todd Kurtz are fantastic signings, and Charles Wright was a must after the way he finished last year. Oliver Allen is a good signing assuming he can stay injury free, whilst Paul Starke has shown promise. The biggest question marks are over Ty Proctor who has massive pressure on him and Pontus Aspegren - who I actually think is a poor signing.

Who Was The Most Frustrating Rider?
Najjer replied to Ommer Mon's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Simon Walker, without doubt. One of the best racing styles I have ever seen, and some of the moves he pulled off around the Oak Tree Arena had to be seen to be believed. The frustrating part was after seeing him notch up double figure scores and being the League's finest on a Friday, to then looking like a wobbling junior on a away track the following night. I really believe Simon had bags of talent, but just seemed to lack self belief that was required to go any further than he did in the sport and proved he could do it on away tracks - just sadly not enough. A joy to watch at the Oak Tree Arena though. James Wright is worthy of a mention in this thread too - would ride the race of his life, going from last to first, making passes inside and outside and then when you need him most in Heat 14 to dig out a result would coast around mid track behind someone had failed to score all night. Another rider who could be brilliant on his day. -
Lol - how can these two posts even be made within such a short space of eachother? You're normally a moron at the best of times, but you've excelled yourself somewhat with this latest effort.
-
Heard a similar thing myself - chequebook Speedway of the highest order.
-
I do still believe Workington will win nothing, yes - Why in your mind you thought us signing Ty Proctor would effect that, I don't know.
-
And of course this has nothing to do with your bitterness towards Somerset ever since Nielsen got dropped last season. Jason Doyle being lost to the PL is a massive loss.
