  1. If your happy with that what about Saturdays ?
  2. Fridays no GP lads then sounds like a winner to me NOT!!!!!
  3. I will just have to beg to differ on this one
  4. IMO beauty is in the eye of the beholder with regards to s/way my 21 yr old son has never really taken to it just can't get the sport even though is agri fitter by trade and even the tech side is lost on him .My daughter 25yrs on the other hand loves the sport with a passion and attends the British GP with me every year and has been to other tracks when work allows .Except for commenting on some stadiums toilet facilities she loves the sport and at every opportunity promotes the sport within her profession. While at Manchester Uni she organised two evenings at B/Vue and two of the students that went are now s/way fans and their only criticism was that they did not about the sport beforehand . As always the product needs promoting and putting in the market place I really believe it is like marmite you love or hate s/way because I accept tractor grading as part and parcel of the sport I love .
  5. So we have EL & Pl teams on fixed nights ( some tracks closing because of the restricted use due to leasing the venues) and still non of the super stars back because of the lack of money promoters are able to pay them .We would then have a glut of PL riders who would be lost to the sport as there would not be enough teams for them .The GP's are a good example of what has happen to this sport with most EL teams not being able to race on or near weekends thus losing some fans IMO. Fixed nights will not work in this country we would have had them years ago if they were workable and the sport was in better shape ( 7 EL riders not 5 and 2 NL per team for a start) ,if you want the riders to come to this country you will have to PAY them as they are self employed mercenaries. ( no disrespect that's how they earn their living)
  6. Hope not "set nights" will not bring the super stars back it's all about the MONEY
  7. Is the constant grading of the track not at the behest of the riders because of the demands of the engines being used in modern speedway .I didn't mind grading at Ellesmere Port in the 70's as Frank Varey used to throw hand fulls of sweets to the kids happy days .IMO there is no simple answer to this problem but think that there should be an aim to attract new fans of all ages .One idea that was mooted was to build a viewing area( within the safety fence) fully glazed along the straights so that fans were as close to the action as possible .I believe riders safety ruled this out which is of paramount importance but just image being that close to the action again as we used to be .
  8. Ivan did win his last title 8yrs after this final so still think he was right to go on as long as he did , you can't really count the home season at Exeter in was it 84? just indulging himself IMO.
  9. Full credit to Mauger shook hands after the race no moaning even managed half a smile on the podium ,not a huge Olsen fan but he was no NP almost as good as Ivan but not quite IMO .
  10. Wants to I believe but yet to find a team maybe when there are a few injuries he may get his chance
  11. I think PK would be a great fit as a s/string but rumour has it he is not ultra keen to come to the EL next season which would be a great shame for his British career to end that way but IMO maybe it is just the money on the table from Wolves who knows?
  12. Never a truer word said in jest I am sure we will see him here but for who and when ? .
  13. Fair comments the choice has been made so it just a wait and see situation now.
  14. Still think he would be the best s/string in the league IMO
  15. It's always about the money PK is the consummate professional and the term of not being "ultra keen " to return is spurious to say the least ,I am under the impression he would have come as a second string ,maybe his scoring power in this position was too expensive 20 out 21 at Coventry last season if my memory serves me correctly .
  16. Yes I would much prefer to see free gates and the double points got rid of and is there such exciting racing now under the present form of starting as people are always asking for passing .
  17. PK should have been signed I am sure it's all about money or a lack( he is not ultra keen ) of it being offered to him , should it all crash and burn he will then be made an offer I am sure if no one else has courted him first .
  18. Fixed gates are the reason that the averages of the top riders today are lower than years ago ,would rather have freedom of gates do away with double points but then I also like tape touching and the old tac/rule because i am out of touch and living in the past .
  19. least it brought a smile to a few faces !!! I thought you had to read between the lines on here all the time still think someone will make an offer that will rekindle his interest in coming over if he is deemed a s/string but accept that he may be winding down his career .
  20. I think the PK situation IMO ( no proof what so ever ) is that he won't come for the terms being offered but if the the wheels fall off then they will make it worth his while ,just got to be careful that no one else "comes a calling ".I think he is worth the risk myself and IMO we will see him in the league this season whether it is in yellow and black your guess is as good as mine .
  21. The best second string in the league by a counrty mile, will wait till the poo hits the fan and then wheel him out madness
