World Champion 2004, Who?
shazzybird replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Oh who shall I say.......... Mark Loram, Scott Nicholls, Lee Richardson, In that order would do nicely -
16 years! and I bet you wish you'd never looked up Canterbury Speedway now
-
Steve Hone who could forget him! Someone has mentioned Raymond Humphries already aka Tyburn Gallows in the years gone by section it does say how he got the name. Changed by deed pole as he was the last apprentice hangman at Tyburn.
-
Now how did I manage to miss the last two posts You two are now in serious trouble
-
I'm sure I don't know what you mean either way there Rod
-
Sometimes I think maybe I shouldn't tell people he's my Uncle as if I sit back and wait someone will say something sooner or later and I aint had a good scrap for years over him He also get's really wound up when I've told him about some of the things that I've said on here he says "omg you dont tell them we're related do you?" but at the end of the day he is who he is and I am who I am, so anything that is said on here comes from me and not any of my relatives (unless stated of course, Dad does like to ask things every now and then!)

Depends on how long you have been a speedway follower Rod as to whether you remember him or not Ted Hubbard rode in the 70's / 80's for Canterbury / Rye House and Hackney. My Hero
-
Iris I think you're probably right
-
Someone call me? I remember Arthur he used to get some stick of the Canterbury fans
-
Uncle Ted may never have won the meeting but always made the rostrum and made me, my family and (bless her heart) Mrs Moon very proud of him xx

Thanks for sharing that with us Bryn went all cold reading it, probably something to do with the weather here at the moment!! I always liked Todd Wiltshire and cheered for him whenever I had the opportunity to do so unless of course there was a Brit in the race being patriotic and all that lol A shame that he never won the race but......... that's speedway for ya!! I'm sure a good night was had by all and to be a part of that ending of an era will stick with the crowds memories for a very long time. See you soon Bryn, can you contact me when you get home as we don't want you sitting alone in the travel lodge again this year do we
-
Hey don't panic I'll help Mrs Norbold get merry too
-
Where was this one held? Can anyone tell me the year the 4TT was abandoned at Hackney because of drug testing? Honey we were there when was it?
-

Ice Racing Results From Weekend
shazzybird replied to Conkers's topic in International World of Speedway
Hiya Rob Thanks for confirming it is you, I was talking to Tony in the pub and said I would ask on the speedway forum about the Ice Speedway as this really isn't something that I have followed, told Chalkie and that lads that I had asked because if it wasn't you they were gonna dunk you in the river. LJ did say that he had seen a few photos, I'll pop down the mill and have a gander at them one day if you don't mind. I did see an Ice Speedway bike when I went to Rye last year for the 75th anniversary of our beloved sport and how you lot ride them I'll never know you either have guts or no brain with them spikes Yes TedH is my Uncle and as you can tell from various postings throughout the forum I was and still am very proud of him, he's not just an Uncle he's also my best friend (next to my dad of course, well....... he bails me out more!!) Will be following your results through the forum now. Maybe someday I make it to an Ice Speedway meeting and cheer you on, perhaps we can have a works outing with the lads from the mill project. -
Norbold you are such a sweetie I'll buy you a shandy next month
-
Norbold if you have the time could you compile a list of riders and their ages for this thread as I'm getting lost as to who is the eldest now ty xx
-
Mark you do realise we have adopted Sam as "Ours" now don't you? maybe you should tap up FAST for a sponsorship nothing in the rules about it not being international is there? Get the sponsorship and don't deprive us in GB any more bring the boy over so we can share him.

His son also followed in his fathers wheel marks and is still racing Rallycross as far as I know. Was a regular at Lydden Circuit during the 1990's

Bit of useless information here, The Mill House Pub many moons ago was actually run by ex-crusader Jake Rennison for those that didn't know. Am at the moment trying to find out what he is up to now an ex landlord from a pub where I live is good friends of his last saw Jake 2 years ago and he was living in the Gillingham area.
