  1. Bit of a strange meeting I thought, not the most exciting of meetings strangely despite the close scoreline. Track is just very poor at the moment, really hard to pass if you miss th gate. Think the track ha got into the riders heads now, summers certainly seems to be very unhappy. Sad really as on paper have a very solid team but can't see too many wanting to stay. Summer had an off night tonight, but everyone else chipped in. Dilger was looking great until his fall while Wilko battled very hard for hs points. Dyer grew better as the night wore on, excellent pass in heat 14 and great ride in 15. For the rockets, josh g was excellent. A great choice of guest. Aspgren was quick and mellgren looked good when he gated. Expected more from Nelson after his showing earlier in season. Set up nicely for second leg, think rye definitely have the edge though.
  2. I'm afraid not Will endeavor to find out though, think they might be on the Northern Junior League facebook page. Stayed to watch the meeting but for some reason didn't fill in my program as normal.
  3. Yes, I did read a piece in the media that his confidence was knocked last year and he wanted to build it back up again this year just riding in second halves and the like and can't really fault them for that.
  4. I stand by what I said, from my angle it looked like definite contact as Heeps moved to block Ulrich. You're right, the referee didnt give it and as we all know ref's never get anything wrong.. That being said, no rider deserves that kind of abuse and he was superb all evening. Thankfully for us he was not at reserve.
  5. Redcar Cubs 17 Danny Phillips 9 Rob Shuttleworth 5+1 Sam Dorrack 3+1 Border Raiders 6 Luke Ruddick 3 Kyle Deans 1 Stefan Farnaby 2 Heat 1 - Phillips, Ruddick, Dorrack, deans 4-2, 4-2 Heat 2 - Shuttleworth, Dorrack, deans, farnaby fex 5-1, 9-3 Heat 3 - Phillips, Shuttleworth, Ruddick, farnaby 5-1, 14-4 59.1 Heat 4 - Phillips, farnaby, Shuttleworth fex, Ruddick r 3-2, 17-6 Apologies for lack of heat time for first heat. Must only be a matter of time before Phillips finds a nl spot
  6. Turned out to be a very decent meeting, with plenty of talking points. Track was better but still far from ideal. Would have take. A bears win at the start, and then especially with dyer withdrawing so a happy fan tonight. That said, could possibly have been the full points. First major talking point was dyers crash in heat 3. Looked horrendous from our spot. Tungsten was in front coming out of 2nd bend with dyer on his tail. Tungsten then hit some grip, wheeled and came off, leaving dyer nowhere to go. Thankfully dyer only hit to gates bike, but caused him to stop almost immediately, somersaulting spectacularly over the handlebars. Thought it must be a collarbone at least. Ambulance on track instantly and was looked at for a good 10 minutes before carted into the back on a stretcher. County ambulance called and turns up, and then dyer walks out of ambulance, takes his place in rerun and wins it. Remarkable stuff. Did well towin a second race two before taking medical advice and withdrawing, hopefully nothing too serious. Other main talking point was heat 15. Official explanation was that the silencer dislodged itself during the race. Have to admit, thought the exclusion for that was a touch harsh, you can't expect him to stop mid race and re attach it! Also though heeps should have been excluded, as he seemed to make contact with Ulrich entering the bend when he fell. But have to be happy with the win. Ulrich I thought as excellent, unlucky in the first and last heats. Skidmore did his job, whilst a mixed bag from Aaron, either wins or lasts! Dilger was excellent, rode very well for his points and Wilko too.slightly disappointed in barker, never really seemed quick but team rode well.heeps was sensational, the fact he was not at reserve probably won us the meeting. Tungate recovered well from his spill, whilst I though lanham deserved more than he got. Was quick throughout but just outgated. Reserves did struggle a bit however.
  7. Fingers crossed we have no issues with the track this week, as this could be a really good meeting. Looking forward to seeing Ipswich, they have a bunch of riders who go well round here. Barker is more than capable of going unbeaten, whilst Tungate used to fly round here and Lanham has a knack of picking points up. Interesting to see how Ellis gets on, always good to see a young brit progressing. I put the jinx on Ulrich last week saying he was bang on form again and he duly had a poor night. I believe he blew a couple of engines though so if they are now sorted I expect him to return to his previous form. The rest of the side looks solid, although I believe that with the new averages Summers goes back above Kus meaning not everyone is eligible for r/r now. Does weaken us slightly. My main concern is the track though, we really need to start getting it right and more consistent for the riders. Each week they are turning up and it's different and I think its evident it's really getting to them. Already whispers that riders wont be back next year due to the poor track which is a real shame as it's the best side we have put together in my opinion and our best chance to get into the playoffs. Will go for a close win for the Bears tonight - weather shouldnt be an issue for any Witches fans travelling, i'll update this if it changes.
  8. Fair to play to Worky, they really attacked the track tonight whilst we were more tentative. Harrison's pass on Ulrich was particularly good. Bach was gating superbly and both Lawson and Harrison looked good. Howarth chipped in with some important points along with Aarnio. Bears gave too many points away, Wilko fell twice in posts scoring positions whilst Ulrich never looked comfortable. Only really Skidmore and Dilger seemed to show any fight. Track was poor again though, another hour of track grading after heat two is just not good enough. A decent crowd as well, so no doubt the owners are happy with all the extra pounds. He'd to be too critical of riders when track changes every week. A few of them looked visibly unhappy, and rumours of riders nt wanting to come back because of track which is disappointing as it is the best side we have put together since we reformed. Fair play to comets tonight though, track is same for both sets of riders.
  9. Rain has stopped in central boro, and starting to dry up. Brightening up too, although still plenty of clouds around. Assuming no more rain then we should be fine imo.
  10. pretty solid drizzle in middlesbrough town centre for the last couple of hours, no worse than anything we had last thursday though. latest forecast i seen is that its due to pass us by in around in hour - if that is accurate then we should be fine. if anything gives the track a good natural watering.
  11. Should be a good meeting tonight, comets normally go well around here but we are in decent form and would fancy our chances against anyone. Ulrich has really stepped up in recent weeks and is looking more like a true number 1 in this league but the whole side is looking solid. Every rider had at least a paid win last week so shows the strength in depth, and Wilko at reserve is scoring well. Dilger riding himself back fit and into form. Lawson has a tendancy to go well here alongside Bach and Harrison so should be a stern test. Predict a Bears win, but a close one with the Comets maybe sneaking a point.
  12. Fair play to all 13 riders tonight, started to rain about 7:20 and never stopped all night. Conditions deteriorated through the night but all riders gave it a go. Bears looked very solid throughout, no real weak link. Ulrich was superb after a duff first ride, really attacked the track and pulled off a superb ride to beat the very fast Kennet. Backed up well by pretty much everyone, Wilko had great meeting and Dilger was looking back on form. For bandits Kennet looked untouchable. Bellego had a good meeting along with wethers. Disappointed in aspegren. Hard to judge on the conditions though. Bears looking very solid though, next week v Worky should be a cracker.
  13. Not sure what to think approaching this meeting - we are certainly on a good run at the moment and confidence is high. Would be confident of a Bears win, although can see Berwick putting up a good fight. I think we have the edge at reserve, with Wilko putting in some decent scores and Max slowly getting back up to speed. A big factor will be how Kennett takes to the track. He could either go unbeaten or score 6. Our top end has been going well though, so should be capable of taking the fight to him. Will go for a 8 point Bears win, and hopefully a cracking meeting.
  14. Seems strange to say this after a win, but quite disappointed with that. No disrespect to scunny, but after losing Howe and already 16 down the second leg should have been a foregone conclusion. No doubt the track played its part (never seen such big blue grooves), but towards the end scunny just seemed more up for it. For the bears, Ulrich looked untouchable for four heats although faded. Skidmore and dyer both rode well alongside summers who had to work very hard for his points as his gating was shocking. Really disappointed with Wilko though, good win in first ride but then nothing, including the compulsory fall. For scunny, firstly best wishes to David Howe. Looked a very awkward tumble, would imagine collarbone/shoulder injury. Led well by Auty and birks grew into the meeting. MPT was hit and miss, looked very quick most of the meeting but not sure how he stayed on bike in second ride. Douglas struggled but blackbird battled hard and possibly deserved more points. Think the act Scunthorpe celebrated like they won after heat 15 shows they fancy there chances in second leg. Should be close.
  15. Had no further rain in MBoro to speak off, so all systems go tonight I would suggest!
  16. Agree, could be a cracking meeting this. I'm guessing we will be running r/r for Matej? On a good run of form at the moment and would expect us to get a win but feel we will need a decent margin to take to Scunny tomorrow. Wilko should again be trump card at reserve and hopefully Max will be starting to ride himself back fit and into the points. Heavy rain in MBoro town centre at the moment, however from forecasts I have seen should clear up during afternoon so fingers crossed.
  17. Agree with yearby, Newman had 3 efs but Kus also struggled and Wilko fll with an engine problem so maybe evened it up. Thought our top two were superb, have been claims we lack top end strength and I have to admit thought Doyle would be untroubled but summers and Ulrich both outstanding. Heat 15 was worth the money alone, and best heat I have seen at Redcar for a long long time. To quote tony millard, could have thrown a blanket over all four riders. Great stuff.
  18. Delighted to see Danny Phillips do so well, has looked pretty much untouchable at STMP in second halves for a while now (only Luke Crang really challenges him). Interesting to see how he does on Thursday riding for Redcar against Dudley.
  19. Was definitely a bit dusty early on, but racing surface was smooth and allowed the riders to attack the track from the start. Certainly not the case in recent weeks. Hopefully we have put all that behind us now. As you say - not a massive amount of passing but good, close racing. Was good to see. Think the signs are that we could have a pretty decent season - top of the league but never really had all 7 riders firing at the same time. If that happens, things could be promising.
  20. Agree with rr. Ostergaard gave his best home showing this year, whilst dyer again was excellent. A delight to watch him every week. Skidmores last couple of rides also excellent. Felt a bit sorry for summers, looked very quick all night, but unlucky to face Procter 3 times. Procter was superb, would pay money to watch him every week. Ably supported by lemon. Very disappointed with Kurtz though - expected more from him. Gathercole blew hot and cold, and Anderson did decent enough. Thought the result was never really in doubt but a satisfying result considering Kus had poor night and had 2 riders returning from injury. Track looked better too, wonder if cvs being in attendance had anything to do with that....
  21. Luke Crang is absolutely flying this season. Him and Dan Phillips have looked very good up at Redcar, real shame there isnt a northern NL club for these guys to get regular racing.
  22. All the best to Mitchell. As said above, did a very solid job for us and glad to see him fixed up somewhere.
  23. To be fair to dyer he fell on first bend after being forced very wide, classic first bend bunching but for whatever reason ref allowed it to continue.
  24. Impressed with Garrity and Nelson last night, both looked very quick and really attacked the track. GReat to see the Kus of old returning. Have to admit thought he had rode his last meeting for us but turn round has been superb. Dyer again looked excellent. Not sure i agree with the heat 10 declaration either, although i never thought we were in danger of losing the meeting. Seemed a bit strange to call it when they did. Rain had pretty much stopped and whilst the track was far from perfect there did not appear to be any serious issues. Then again, i was not on the track rider safety has to be priority. Would also like to add my thanks to Mitchell Davey. Was a bit underwhelmed with his signing, but he impressed me once he got going. Picked up some decent points and always looked on the pace with decent kit. Hope he gets picked up by someone.
  25. Just to echo Mr M, been steady drizzle in center of middlesbrough for a while - but not enough to even create puddles. Dare I say it could even make for a decent racing surface? Last rainfall radar I seen, we were about half way through the rain band so fingers crossed for nothing heavier!
