Berwick v Oxford 03/08/24 Championship
SPEEDY69 replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm still perplexed regarding Killeen being excluded for leaving the track - his bike did not conform to regulations as he'd broken his front mudguard. Was he supposed to come to tapes with it like that only to be excluded for having a defective machine? (It isn't compulsory to have a mechanic, so he may have needed to do the repairs himself). -

Is there any live streaming from Berwick? -
Agreed. Plus, all the people who own more than one house keep prices rising and affect the supply/demand ratio.
-
Agreed, has been the difference between wins/losses for Brum all season as they expected him to get much more at home especially. I think he's reached his level.

Even as an amateur club you have to fun with scb licensed officials etc. and if under another body the promotion would not let us ride there. Rents got higher to make it unviable in the end as we would have to charge £60 per rider, and that's with 35 of them turning up.
-
One is run by Rob Godfrey, the other isn't. SCB/BSPL have been doing this for years. The Southern Trak Riders amateur group were forced out because they weren't allowed to run under another body at any existing SCB tracks and those tracks then priced them out of existence.

Birmingham v Sheffield - 22nd July
SPEEDY69 replied to StephenMiller's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Harsh to criticise Castagna, I thought he rode really well and unlucky in heat 2. Brennan was reserve for SON and on his home track should do better than that, he's proven he can. He only beat Pickering and Howarth from their 1-5, which Castagna did as well. -

Felt sorry for Birmingham tonight, the win was there but this time it was Brennan who was poor. Flint was also shocking. Good to watch and a close finish but was rooting for the Brummies. -

Yes, he was only beaten once, definitely the star of the night. -

Bewley takes his foot off the footrest and surprise surprise the bike takes off. -
Looks like two levers on left of the handlebars, surely no gearbox? or is it a weird shadow?

Hi, this event at the University of East Anglia may interest speedway historians or curious types. https://www.uea.ac.uk/events/view?id=84e86f7c-b3da-40e7-8b15-fea7ff61d958

What's the point of practising! Track is never the same as the actual event.
-
I thought practice was cancelled, was there a different issue than the weather?

Oxford v Ipswich 4th July
SPEEDY69 replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The rule I think is for an "unsatisfactory start". Most refs seem to consider up to the exit of the second bend as "the start". There is no rule for 1st bend bunching. -

Could hear it on the live stream. He did have a conversation with Tungate after the crash but yeah, he shouldn't have been excluded and Oxford didn't deserve to get a point out of that. Let's see if that's crucial when the playoff places have been decided -
I think at Ipswich they actually related to the hot rods/stock cars as they go on for hours on Saturday or Sunday once a month but people refer to it as the speedway stadium.
-
I would and so would tousands of people. How much disruption does it cause? Imagine living next to a busy road, or around a major airport, or near a football stadium or rugby stadium or a school etc. Etc. I That would not be an issue.

World Ranking - SGP Qualification
SPEEDY69 replied to IainB's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The GP has never been about the best riders in the world, so debating who is is interesting but not relevant to the GP's. -

Not pressure from anyone but on himself because it will be doubly embarrassing if he doesn't score well if front of his home crowd (I'm sure many fans go to both Spires sand Cheetahs meetings). -

Ipswich will be hoping so but it brings a weird additional pressure for him.
