  1. That's right regarding too many newcomers. Frtom memeory before this season everyone was saying that Musielak would be wiping the floor with everyone but it didn't happen and he's had time over here before. With Dudek I don't see that he'd pull up too many trees and would be asking for a lot of dosh. I quite like Mike Bacon's side but wouldn't have Ellis and King in the same side, too inconsistent.
  2. Don't think that team would be all that successful.
  3. If you mean the effect at the back wheel then that presents another issue to adapt to as we could see unintentional 'laying it down' mid-bend. As long as it's able to be progressive it should be possible for a rider to adapt. How the back wheel reacts to the track surface is critical for the rider to be able to control, to remain in control.
  4. Judging from the trial that the clip showed, yes, I don't think they'd wheelspin as quick and may lift more.
  5. I think track surface would need to change. I don't see the bikes having enough flexibility to cope with rapid change of direction with greater wheelspin or the straight-lining if hitting a grippy patch. They could work well on a smooth/hard surface.
  6. October is not normally so wet so not sure why people expect it to be? The point I was making is that at other tracks, they pack it down really firm, the water mostly runs off down the drains on the inside and then when it's a dry day, dry material can be placed on top. I saw Buster totally relay the track at Lynn from a total quagmire to raceable in 2 hours back in the 90s, well before the new clay surface. You just need the right tools and, wait for it, the right setup
  7. A totally dry day in Leicester and they can't prepare a track that'll be ready. They need to be better prepared in the future. Tomorrow is different, heavy rain forecast right at the wrong time, 6pm.
  8. Too much variation for that to be a factor plus also the heaviness/frequency/time of day is important. Heavy rain on a Tuesday every week in October compared to lighter rain every day in April would still give similar rainfall figures but you'd get more meetings run in October.
  9. Occasionally maybe but I saw him have good meetings there, getting the fastest time and beating AJ as well. He's a 'mood' rider, which makes him less than reliable.
  10. Unfortunately though, brown envelopes can be very persuasive
  11. Yes, I saw Peter Oakes tweeted the news but not sure how/cause. I had a couple of really good races with him at Lynn I remember, sad to hear.
  12. As much as they want. None of the spend on vans & mechanics & brand new bikes every year is compulsory and a lot of it will be sponsored as well. The ancillary stuff makes no difference to their speed on track but is more about keeping up with the Jones'.
  13. What an awful ref. does she know anything about speedway? Brennan was going down on his own.
  14. This was from back in 2010, from an article by John Chaplin on Speedway Plus and wages there have only gone one way since. Crump's signature on the contract is reportedly worth around £170,000 and every time he turns up for a league match he is to be guaranteed 3,000. If he rides in 20 Polish meetings that makes a round sum of £60,000 for the new season. The rest is to be earned on the track. For each point scored he will get £1,700 If he scores as many points as he did in 2010 he will take home about £390,000.
  15. Sayfutdinov and N Pedersen I've seen before as well and they were more than this!
  16. That bubble may burst at some point but can't blame the riders for taking it!
  17. Should be straightforward for the Aces to hang on. Sheffield will be under pressure but anything can happen, a fall or two could make a difference.
  18. All a bit predictable for me, good for aces fans undoubtedly because if they'd made the starts it would have been processional. It was a bit slick/damp and I was surprised how many times riders didn't seem to spot that 1/2 the outside was quickest and 3/4 the inside, for the first half of the meeting. I think the Aces have a great chance to win on Thursday as the pressure may get to the Tigers. All they need are 3-3s, maybe at reserve they may come unstuck.
  19. It was only an example, not an allegation against Vavulik.
  20. Thanks, this is what I meant, not them using sponsorship for themselves but to get a place e.g. Vaculik securing a GP venue for the series to use, as long as he's in it.
  21. Ok thanks! So the reserve list is for the back-up wild cards and they take preference over those next in-line from the challenge. I do remember thinking Kolodziej, Lebedevs, Smolinski & others in the challenge final feeling hard done by with Bewley & especially Holder's inclusion. Out of interest, can the riders bring sponsorship to the GP series as a way of getting in, like F1 drivers do to get into teams?
  22. That was in the World Cup wasn't it, not just a run of the mill league match? I wonder how many other times they raced against each other over the season? Now I'm not saying he's better than him or anyone else but it shows the lad is capable. Good for him and I hope he gets more opportunities. I don't think Bewley or Holder should have been in the series this year if they followed the pecking order of qualification (as they are doing with Fricke) but Bewley has shown that choice to have been the right call.
