Saving Iversen for last? Don't know if I read too much into it but in the Tru Plant article for Ipswich, they mentioned they listed their help for 2019 as Jason Doyle and one other rider but didn't name them - someone for Lynn?

Surely tapes-up for qualifying is irrelevant as they're measuring a flying lap aren't they? Agreed for the races that riders will want a standard position on the bike. I also like the idea of measuring actual mph during a race (like they do with skiing for example) - they'd need readers at multiple points though so they may consider it too expensive......

I am almost certain that these figures contain a lot of inaccuracies, so much so that conclusions really can't be drawn. Most tax returns I've seen, including business ones, never show the real amounts of money flowing, the value taken out or offset against costs that are lower in reality than stated. This is even more true of cash businesses where income can be difficult to audit. Accountants are paid a lot of money for a reason!

Doesn't mean he's the only one though, just that others don't choose to make it public.

Ha, it's funny how people latch on to one bit of a post which was actually more about clubs putting fans first, but I guess there's nothing like a forum to focus on the small issues. There's no need for anyone to be confused, when entering the stadium through the car par turnstile, directly between you and the end of the back straight stand is a steep grass bank, which I've chosen to walk up to get to the stand (at first I didn't know there was a longer way around) - a few stairs wouldn't have added much to the cost of the whole build. Anyway, back to my original question regarding Belle Vue, what Health and Safety issues prevent people from walking all the way around a speedway stadium when it's a new build?

Ha, thanks for the eloquent response, must have touched a nerve. The point of the post was really that fans are not the top priority and that's one example. No, I don't want a seat but don't think being able to access facilities at the stadium is an unreasonable expectation. Oh, and the grass bank is real, have walked up/down it every time I've been there (apart from the World Cup) but the aerial shot from a previous poster does show there is a way around it - just not if you're in a hurry to see the first heat from bend two following a late arrival

Thank you. The new Wembley doesn't have that issue, maybe it pre-dates a change in rules then or it's different depending upon the type of event.

To get to the stand on the back straight. Don't know if there's another way to reach it or not but just after the turnstile it's a big grassy bank to get up to the stand.

Can you elaborate please on this? It is a purpose built stadium and they decided to segregate? At other tracks you can access all parts of the stadium, including the pits and there are no H&S issues which prevent it. In fact, having to walk through a car park and up a steep bank presents health issues (particularly if not athletic, mobile and extremely alert like me )

But there could/should be more people there. It still relies too heavily on things which existing fans seem to focus on i.e. the actual racing, there is still virtually nothing going on apart from that and the back straight fans are segregated from the home straight amenities.

And that's where it falls down. This makes an almighty assumption that everything else on the comparable laps stayed the same i.e. the path of the bike around the track, the way the rider controlled the throttle, the wind resistance (which includes rider body and head positioning). I think if they could be made for false starts, results of races and to give fans MPH figures of riders at set points on the track then that would bring value to fans but I see them of limited value to riders.

It's a fairly common tactic to go bankrupt which means those who are owed don't get it - normally it's a business not the person themselves. Like a phoenix from the ashes you can then rise again - shadow directors are common, with the real owner in the background..

Couldn't disagree more I'm afraid. I always read more into a rider than an average or age because there are so many factors to that. If a team wants 100% commitment and a rider who engages with the public, is visible to armchair fans and is able to properly race & pass people then Scott fits those criteria. Maybe it is financial but I struggle to see others like Harris for example riding for less money than Scott. I agree with you that I expect he'll get fixed up somewhere during the season.

Can't see how Tungate saves Peterborough much money - unless Harris really was on a fantastic deal. Rohan definitely makes you stronger.

For me it was never the quality of the racing - it was the experience and everything that went with it. Although people rave about the NSS, I can't abode having to walk through a car park, miles around and up a steep grassy bank, greeted by one overpriced catering van and some portaloos and have to stay there all meeting. Now we have robots who appear, ride around and f off, all to the background of some person mumbling along between someone's music collection whilst you stand around doing nothing apart from occasionally visit a filthy hole called toilets. It's now an experience only real enthusiasts bother with. Peoples' expectations, mine included, have moved on but speedway as a live event has not (Cardiff excepted).

I lay far more of the blame for some of the awful stuff the last couple of years at hos door than Chapman. Bossing others around to suit his own team, running practice events outside the rules at his track, Holdergate and more I expect.

No reason why not. Belle Vue ought to suit him but he's no good there either.

Obviously not seen him in recent years, particularly at Rye H or when riding for Glasgow then He did have a few good rides for Poole last year on TV so hope that's what you get at Ipswich.
