Like you I think I'd prefer more change each year, same faces does get boring.

I didn't think it was too bad, those with the talent still shone. Zmarzlik was fantastic. The series itself is meaningless to me but I Iike the variety and mind games of the different tracks rather than simply full throttle, best setup wins. There were points when the outside on 3/4 was faster but only some had the nous and talent to use it.

Me, but only on catch up. No interest in ant football, dullest sport ever.

Swindon surely?

I'll humour you. Not sure why you think only league results reflect whether a rider is better than another?? The latest official 'rolling' averages, which I hate, show Scott on 6.56 and using your figure of 7.25 for Thorsell, makes it just a 14 point difference over the 20 meetings - so not even a point per meeting! I'm not sure but I think bonus points are also removed from average calculations? I have not, nor will not, look back at those last 20 meetings to capture a) who the opposition was in each race b) who the team colleague was in each race c) the track/weather conditions for each meeting d) what each opposing rider scored in those meetings e) whether there were any injuries f) whether there any passes made in those heats g)whether there was any team riding in those heats h) the meeting scoreline at each heat so that we can see the pressure placed on the rider in those heats i)whether there were any tapes infringements, exclusions or mechanical failures. I will then be in a more informed position. What makes us think one rider is better than another is subjective and not simply about points scored. In any case, I am not arguing that one rider or another is better than another, simply pointing out why it's not simple. My contention with your argument is that you said that Nicholls was "far weaker" than Thorsell. I disagree.

League only and of course we all know about lies damn lies and statistics - there are nearly always stats that can back up any point of view. We know yours.

Why do some of you call Bellego Barry? Barry Island, Barry Evans, Barry Lee, ??

Ipswich v Wolves 20th May

Nope, just a fan of British speedway. If Hawkins is putting in money where does he get it from?? -
Don't forget in the PSC the format is different so the number 3 position is no easier than the number 1. Irrelevant now as the choices have been made and Wolves have stuck by their original selection, which I applaud. Let's see how the season progresses!

Ipswich currently top the league - so what if some riders appear to be struggling, I'm sure the other teams would gladly swap positions. As much as I agree with those saying Bellego and Harris (neither of whom I would have picked at the start of the season) are not doing well enough, they are part of the team which is winning. Stick with it I say. Hawkins must be cheap because clearly he's not up to it yet. But again Louis said on TV last night that he is working well with the riders, however in my view he is making bad choices for the team - they could be doing even better! -
Rarely stays on his bike - has a style that makes him prone to fall, often backing it in to the corners.

Where have you been, swimming? -
Two good ideas there. Especially if the order is reverse to current standing i.e. leader goes last.
-
I've never rated him as I think his style makes him high risk for falls and subsequent injuries but there's no doubt he can be successful on his day.

Yep, I agree. Their love of the Tories always shines through, unless you actually believe the tripe printed in the conservative-biased press (mail, sun, telegraph, Times etc.)?

Ipswich v Poole; Supporters Cup; Thurs 16/05/19
SPEEDY69 replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Were you there? I know you and Gavan have this love/hate thing going on but I think that's completely unfair on their efforts, Nicholls in particular. Holder and Worrall were awful - Worrall seemed to have a couple of bike issues but he wasn't really in contention then. NBJ and Covatti did as I expected. Ipswich are on form at the moment and I predicted a comfortable win, as it turned out. -

Covatti will be no match for Allen & Heeps. Should be comfortable for the Witches, with Harris and King scoring well recently. -
I think you would know more than me on this so could be wrong but that says the penalties are only for riding across the infield?????

I could only see this within the 2019 SCB regualtions: 15.3. A Starting Offence is considered to have been committed in the following circumstances: - Gate Preparation after the expiry of the 2-minute allowance. When a rider’s motorcycle or any part of their body or equipment touches or breaks the starting tapes whilst the green starting light is on or prevents the raising of the start gate. And fails to comply with: - Art 15.2.2 Returning into the pits Art 15.2.4 Failure to meet the 2 minute time allowance Art 15.2.8 Not obeying the Start Marshal’s instructions A second offence, following an official warning during the meeting for incorrectly preparing the start gate area, disobeying the start marshal and moving during the illumination of the green light before the tapes are released shall result in disqualification (ie; second warning) There was nothing referring to a financial penalty other than the general rule that a referee can impose a penalty if they want to, not as a matter of course.

That may be true but every track has a re-direct set up from the .co except Poole. Why did the domain change?
-
I think that's the key issue - nothing focuses a riders attention better than money! It'd be great to have that over here, or even doc them a point (for income only) for an infringement - effectively reducing their income and relating the fine relative to their contract.
