  1. I've skimmed through the races and didn't think it was too bad actually - there doesn't have to be overtaking for it still be a decent race - positioning and defending are key skills. Don't want to see any more Polish rounds. To see Fricke getting Fricked was rather ironic but Madsen should have been disqualified there. Is it both him and Dudek that have been banned previously for drugs offences? It's another argument as to whether they should be allowed to compete in the GPs but I'm not keen on it. Also very interesting in that the GP highlighted the advantages of having the right gate position at the right time. Standard regrades every four heats and at semi/final stages always spoils things for me as those races immediately prior are often better contested/more unpredictable.
  2. I think that's owhat would please the current hardcore fans but it's the whole experience which could attract new followers. At present, between races its dull, the environment is poor with few seats/liitle rain cover at many tracks, presentation tired and no alternative entertainment in the downtime (and I don't mean on the centre green)
  3. There's a lot of Daily Mail/The Sun/The Times readers on this forum, thought it was about speedway.
  4. Think it much more likely they didn't even try for a guest.
  5. Should be an easy win for the Witches. Bates is an awful signing in my view, always falls off.
  6. It depresses me that every season now its all about changes to line ups rather than sticking with the first choice team.
  7. Nick Morris -- oh dear. He used to be a PL No. 1, now struggling at No. 4, has he come back too soon?
  8. Harris is certain to get through from France, that's why Rosco has put him there. Cook and Lambert will also make it.
  9. With two/three rounds in Germany and others on big tracks who knows?
  10. Nope, a complete misconception about engines, higher speed on track is down to a combination of rider control and bike setup, rarely the engine itself.
  11. Like you I think I'd prefer more change each year, same faces does get boring.
  12. I didn't think it was too bad, those with the talent still shone. Zmarzlik was fantastic. The series itself is meaningless to me but I Iike the variety and mind games of the different tracks rather than simply full throttle, best setup wins. There were points when the outside on 3/4 was faster but only some had the nous and talent to use it.
  13. Ha, think you need to watch it again. Emil was a big girl crying over a move which was fair and really quite tame for a GP.
  14. Me, but only on catch up. No interest in ant football, dullest sport ever.
  15. Oops, got that prediction wrong, Ellis was toilet it seems. Good stuff from the Panthers and I see that Andersen has picked up now that Nicholls is in the side, bodes well for them. Glad no-one was injured, should be a tight affair for the top four in the PL this year.
  16. Poole look stronger with the guests so should be a routine home win. Let's hope the bumps don't affect things too much. Who'll be the first to get a jump start warning, Ellis Tungate or Andersen?
  17. I'll humour you. Not sure why you think only league results reflect whether a rider is better than another?? The latest official 'rolling' averages, which I hate, show Scott on 6.56 and using your figure of 7.25 for Thorsell, makes it just a 14 point difference over the 20 meetings - so not even a point per meeting! I'm not sure but I think bonus points are also removed from average calculations? I have not, nor will not, look back at those last 20 meetings to capture a) who the opposition was in each race b) who the team colleague was in each race c) the track/weather conditions for each meeting d) what each opposing rider scored in those meetings e) whether there were any injuries f) whether there any passes made in those heats g)whether there was any team riding in those heats h) the meeting scoreline at each heat so that we can see the pressure placed on the rider in those heats i)whether there were any tapes infringements, exclusions or mechanical failures. I will then be in a more informed position. What makes us think one rider is better than another is subjective and not simply about points scored. In any case, I am not arguing that one rider or another is better than another, simply pointing out why it's not simple. My contention with your argument is that you said that Nicholls was "far weaker" than Thorsell. I disagree.
  18. League only and of course we all know about lies damn lies and statistics - there are nearly always stats that can back up any point of view. We know yours.
  19. Why do some of you call Bellego Barry? Barry Island, Barry Evans, Barry Lee, ??
  20. Nope, just a fan of British speedway. If Hawkins is putting in money where does he get it from??
  21. Don't forget in the PSC the format is different so the number 3 position is no easier than the number 1. Irrelevant now as the choices have been made and Wolves have stuck by their original selection, which I applaud. Let's see how the season progresses!
