  1. No thanks to Bridger, if we have Eddie back I'd support him however I think he would drop down on too high an average. Anders Mellgren can become a PL number one in 2013, he should start no higher than third in the averages. A top three including him, Grajczonek and an out and out number one would take some stopping. With two of Nelson, Nielsen, Bunyan and Garrity at reserve all season to back that top trio up we'd be a force top be reckoned with once again.
  2. Grajczonek, Mellgren, Nelson, Bunyan, Garrity and Nielsen would leave about 9 points for a number one, injuries permitting that's the PL champions for 2013 IMO.
  3. I'm going as it's the last meeting of the season and I need my fix, other than that it is nothing more than a glorified challenge meeting. As for Len Silver's open letter to the Mercury it is very much to the point and has an air of Len knows best rather than allaying the fears of the Rye House faithful which it should have done. Shadders was not the only fan who was mentioned, however it seems the comments regarding Jason Doyle hit a nerve. It is my opinion the letter is very much going over what has already been said by the promotion, of course the Doyle incident last year will take it's toll this season, people don't like being told if they don't like it then lump it, especially at £16 a pop. The winter won't have change what has been said and another winter will not change that either. There needs to be an attempt by the promotion to build bridges with alienated fans who are their bread and butter. As for family tickets, my family don't attend any more due to cost, they stopped attending in 2006, I'm the only one who still regularly attends, that's £64 that Rye are losing out on each week for four adults, a family/group ticket at say £45 is better than taking nothing surely, plus at a more reasonable price people are more likely to spend money at the food/drink concessions in the stadium. I read the Mercury this morning to see what Shadders had to say in his response to Len and to be honest I wasn't surprised to see it hadn't been printed. We have a top set up at Rye and regardless of all the knocking one of the best promoters in the game. I'd like to see Len really go for it next season, put out a strong team, drop admission prices or implement a group ticket and work with the press to get people back in the stadium. In business your consumer is the life blood, you have to tell them why you should get their business, not tell them you need it to be successful but they will get what they are given.
  4. True, though he goes off to Germany and does it with parental permission, why not allow it here too, maybe with a competency test for riders who want to do such to prove that they are capable of controlling, not just riding a 500cc bike.
  5. I agree, which is a shame, if we did swap Robbo for Nelson, I'd also get Doolan out and replace him with a big number one, I'd have Gjedde back if his injury problems are aside. Other potential names mooted to fill spots would be Grajczonek and Lanham, I'd be happy with Grajczonek. What about Richie Worrall? He's on a bargain average and if Lakeside are intending on using him I guess they shall be buying his contract, he could come down and race for them on Friday, then stay down to ride for us on the Saturday. I imagine he'll be wanted back at Newcastle, however as he is making rapid strides he may be looking to get into Poland as the season gets going, can't do that at a Sunday track. We're nicely located near Stansted Airport too
  6. That would be way under the points limit, even by Rye standards. Last I remember hearing is that Luke won't be ready to race again until around June, too much of the season to use a stop gap rider for, especially Morley or Sarjeant so we need to plan without him for 2013. Luke offers stability in the engine room of the side, when he returns to race fitness mid season he may have to wait for a chance elsewhere to end the season in the PL or he could always ride for the Raiders to get his racing sharpness back to ride for the Rockets in 2014. There is talk of Nelson coming back, I can't see it personally although he is a good signing on a 5.33 average. Wishful thinking but with rumours of Doolan coming in and Robbo potentially on the way out at Newcastle: 1. Robson 2. Bunyan 3. Mellgren 4. Kling 5. Doolan 6. Nielsen 7. Garrity Comes in at just over 42 points.
  7. Will be interesting to see now who complains about the late call off and if they're the same people who complain about the early call offs that we usually get...
  8. Handbags ladies. Complin is a very entertaining rider, shame to see him retire though he is doing so at his peak. If he'd not retired first time he may well have made it as an Elite League heat leader. Whenever I saw him at Rye he was gash but round the bigger tracks generally he was box office. All the best to Lee, you don't have to be a world beater to be a crowd puller.
  9. Mellgren has to be Rocket of the year, nothing against Garrity who has been brilliant when not injured, he will only get better no doubt. Anders has consistently top scored home and away, in a lot of cases being the only rider to show up away from home so to speak. Gonna be the man to watch next year in the Premier League.
  10. I believe the technical term for that is a windmill.
  11. Auty 8.09 Morris 8.00 Howe 7.89 R. Worrall 5.78 Birks 5.59 S. Worrall 4.08 Nielsen 3.00 Total: 42.38 In response to the Richie will be back at Lakeside and Stefan will be at Ipswich responses that are likely to come, they won't be if they are at Scunthorpe and they are your assets
  12. Sorry guess my post wasn't too clear, we tried to get dispensation for Robert to race in the NL this season (2012) I was wondering if this is a rule imposed by the SCB/BSPA stopping riders under 15 ride or if there was actually a real legal reason?
  13. Spot on, hence Len Silver trying to get dispensation for Robert to ride for the Raiders this season. Out of interest, is there any legal reason Robert couldn't race in the NL at 14 yet a 15 year old schoolboy can or is it a case of the BSPA being far too rigid with their own rules.
  14. Maybe Stoke were offered the chance to come to Rye before the cut off date and didn't agree to it because they didn't want us in the play-offs where we'd stuff them again? Just playing Devils advocate
  15. It's easy enough to figure out what a riders average will be, the bspa are usually slow in releasing final figures too which doesn't help fans who want to know who they could sign for the next campaign.
  16. Such a shame the cut off date robbed the Raiders of the play-offs. Connor Coles is going to be some rider if he carries on in the same vein he has started his career, he looks very raw but with another season of NL racing behind him he will be a top rider at this level. It's a shame Tom Braddock decided to quit the sport, he was looking very good and would have formed a formidable reserve partnership with Connor if he'd carried on. Whilst I'm here it is vital the Raiders continue next season, our young lads have a lot of talent, they have all struggled due to a disjointed summer no doubt. I'd like to see Morley, Sarjeant, Hazelden and Coles retained. I'd add Robert Lambert as he is a top talent and to get him racing competitively round Rye in preparation for PL in 2014 would be a good idea. On top of that if we could get Marc Owen back I reckon Len could be the man to help him get over the bad knocks he has had and back on track to fill his undoubted potential. For the last place, Len should try get hold of the young lad Adam Ellis who has been impressing for the IOW. Failing that bring Luke Chessell back. That's a young, hungry side who could all potentially progress to the Rockets. 1. Morley 2. Ellis/Chessell 3. Owen 4. Hazelden 5. Sarjeant 6. Coles 7. Lambert
  17. The team you've suggested is as likely to be the Rye team next year as it is likely for Shadders to win this years x factor. The best way to get a decent idea of a riders average for next year is to work out how many meetings they have ridden this year, how many they are left to ride, then how many from last season will need to be counted. Take the meetings ridden this season and the amount that will be added from last year and work out the average. Simples.
  18. Great result for the Raiders, can't believe the joke that is the cut off date considering the disjointed season we've had due to adverse weather. If the Raiders sneak in, unlikely with the Islanders going to Lynn, then we could cause an upset. Garrity is one of the best riders in the league, Sarj has been on top form in the last few meetings, probably because he's actually been racing regularly, something that hasn't happened for many of the Raiders this season. Ben, again is a big hitter at this level now, whilst Shane Hazelden wasn't Hackney number one last year for no reason.
  19. If you don't splash the cash you have a pony team, no one comes and you go bust too, vicious circle really. Len is the most experienced promoter in the game, compared to the Mallets at Newport who struggled. These things are cyclical, we'll be back on top soon, let's just hope the presentation steps into the 21st century!
  20. Josh has been a very good guest for us, would love to take him off your hands tbh, on a 7.5 average roughly I think he'd be a steal as a second heatleader. Think building a team with Bager as a third heatleader would be a bit of a gamble, especially with Henry on an inflated Brough Park average joining him in the engine room. That being said as long as the Tigers come to tapes for 2013 that is the main thing! We flogged Linus Sundstrom to Peterborough for 20k plus the winter before last, the year we should have held out declaring the side and could have kept him as a D/U rider, but I digress.
  21. Ah most people who aren't fans of him coming back are so because he has a bit of a shady past. He's a talented rider, I'd expect he'd still be active riding moto x etc in Oz and at 19 he's still got time on his side.
  22. Why wouldn't you want a rider on a bargain average? You won't win anything building a side on a rider's personality.
