  1. Doolan and Howe dreadful...all they need now is Carl Wilkinson and one of the worst teams in recent memory will be confirmed...
  2. One name hasnt been mentioned but who rides the STMP really well, Kevin Wolbert - would happily take him, especially if we don't get - as we suspect - Charles Wright back
  3. Would Barker not be an option for BV - seems to like it?
  4. I know which team I would rather have and watch, and it wouldnt be Ipswich - from an outsiders point of view - indeed that is from someone who loathes the loathsome Worrall.
  5. It is no different to any season, there are always some clubs willing to throw more money at it than others - that dates back to the 1970s not just now - talking nonsense...as Glasgow have proved in recent seasons, money isnt always the answer. Yes on paper they should win it, doesnt mean they will...
  6. What average would MBA come in on, presume Nicol is a 5??
  7. Barker, JBA, Bukhave and Banford - three assets, a decent start - would allow for some other big hitters. Would be disappointed not to get Wright back - would love us to take a gamble on Broc Nicol, but suspect others with bigger pockets are in for him.
  8. Dear God I hope not, what a dreadful team that is...
  9. Rumours of Charles Wright to Sheffield? Would that mean no Howarth?
  10. Whilst I would have taken Garrity back, most werent keen and I have little doubt our promotion told him he would not be coming back. Barker and Wright are our main two....and we already have one of them
  11. Ben was always coming back so very happy. Hopefully Wright will follow with JBA and Bukhave. Real shame Busch won't be back, I would take Perks and Ayres to be honest, both showed plenty to merit coming back in my eyes.
  12. Losing Worrall to Scunthorpe - deary me, does not bode well for the worst team in the North East...
  13. Very good top five for Scunny - they will be relying on Auty, Allen and Nielsen to add but they should and even Garrity has room and we know Worrall won't lose - so yeah, a nice looking side indeed.
  14. To be fair SCB - I think this is just our promotion appeasing the 'old fart' brigade by saying we tried to save it - we can run any night we like, and we have run a number of Friday meeting due to Ipswich and Sheffield, so this won't be an issue and a lot of Bears fans realise this is for the good of the sport and for our viewing, as we wont see half-a-dozen guests on a regular basis
  15. Why will Redcar suffer? A big portion of Redcar fans are new and they dont realise the history behind and we have a lot of families, me included and Friday's or Saturday's will be much better to take my kids. Complete fallacy to suggest every side will suffer.
  16. Sheffield can race other nights, look at their thread - their fans confirm this. Redcar are lucky that we can race any night of the week we like. Why on earth would fans NOT be able to support another race night, I am a Redcar fan - and I loved watching on a Thursday night, but it is ridiculous to suggest that fans can't watch their team on another night - it is old codger attitudes that will kill the sport. And although I am a second tier fan, supporter - the answer is YES the top division has to be a success. We DO need world class riders. Only an idiot would think attracting the likes of Martin Vaculik into the the British league is a bad thing, and we have to go fixed nights to help this, then that is the right thing to do.
  17. Whilst I was never a fan of set race nights, it is worth a go - and will be a big step for British speedway. Hopefully cut out lots of guest appearances etc and bring back some big names, which we have already seen. This will be a major move for British speedway and people should get behind it IMO - even if, like me, you aren't a huge fan and my club will be one of those impacted by having to move their own race night.
  18. Like with Redcar and any team in the second tier, you won't have a choice - Monday and Thursday's will be top-flight only - which for me I think we have let them have a go at, and will cut down the guests etc which we all hate.
  19. Out of interest what night will Sheffield be switching too - if you stay at this level?
  20. In short, yes. But we are fortunate that we can choose - I would imagine Friady nights would be the given the chance, but we could try Saturday afternoons in the summer? Thursday's will always be our race night but don't think it will take too much to change to a Friday - plus personally be better as kids can go without having to head off early because of school etc
  21. I would have Garrity back. Injuries played its part and like with almost every rider, they come back earlier than they should. For me next year... Barker Wright Anderson Busch Bukhave and the other two dependent on averages. I would take Perks but I believe he will a number of options available to him.
  22. Considering there will be no doubling up issue next season due to set race nights in top-flight - I would have no problems with Charles Wright, indeed, any rider
  23. I suspect he has learnt his lesson - he has found a promotion that support - think at this stage of his career, that goes a long way.
  24. Ben Barker will only be riding for one team in 2018...it won't be Lakeside
