It was a lot more than they paid!
-
The Consortium have turned down more than one approach in the past 12 months from more than one party - hmmmm, why would you keep a business that is losing money when given the chance to cash in? Answer, you wouldn't. The 2015 vintage has all the makings of being the cheapest septet yet! Which in itself is some achievement.
-
With this consortium we are never going to be a challenging side, we all know that - the only time we ever did really well in recent years was when we got really lucky with Mickey Dyer, and that was pure luck as nobody else made him an offer - and then that same season and because of the penny pinching we didnt make a change to keep Dyer at reserve for another month which would have got us in the play-offs - the consortium are making money, they are happy - so they clearly think they dont need to spend anymore more money, which as we know is very annoying to most Bears fans.
-
But then again, you COULD argue, that if you turn right every time you come out of the start at the STMP, your going to end up on the shale at some point. Nobody condones that behaviour, but by the same token a professional speedway rider going on record stating he wanted a club to go bust - well that is a low as his own dirty tactics... BEARS FOREVER, WORRALL NEVER!
-
Yes but none of those stated they would like to see Redcar shutdown, like Worrall did in the Speedway Star - would refuse to watch a Bears side if that scumbag ever signed for us.
-
Worrall and Roynon in a Bears team, dear god - would rather Arlo, Kopanka, Keskinen and Suchanek than those two!
-
Talking of former Newcastle riders, one I would have liked is Rosen - think he has a lot more to come.
-
A huge thank you to Scunthorpe for sparing us another season of Carl Wilkinson, really a massive thanks!
-
Not a shock, and again this very annoying trend of signing former (past it) Newcastle riders and although still a cheap option not a bad one and should deliver points for us on a regular basis. But the best news is no Wilkinson! Dreadful rider who if he put as much effort into maintaining his equipment as he does moaning about his machinery and money etc he would be a GP star.

Who Is The Best Pl Number One Ever?
RedcarRacer replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
For me Hunter was the best number one I ever saw at Cleveland Park, his one year he was incredible - 1990 I think...the year Poole beat us to everything...sure he averaged over 10 or if not very close. -
Who Is The Best Pl Number One Ever?

Gary Havelock or Steve Wilcock or Rod Hunter...simples -
Given how Lawson was treated by Havvy, he was never coming back anyway - money was only an issue for those clubs looking to sign him, and we werent one of those.

Peterborough Panthers 2015
RedcarRacer replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Surely with Birmingham and Cradley in NL, that would be something Peterborough should consider now? -
Why would running at 630 not be manageable in the PL? Away fans dont need to be taken into consideration in speedway so - if your getting say 800 now for NL at 630 - you would surely get that in PL, and given some crowds in PL that would be up there with some of the best. I for one wished Redcar started earlier than 730 - getting kids home sometimes at 10 on a school night simply doesnt work IMO - everyone talks about speedway stuck in dark ages but most are unwilling to imagine it starting before 730... But good luck to everyone at Kent, hope Mr Cearns et al get what they want and clearly deserve.

Still be amazed if Stuart Robson is not signed up, nice cheap option for Redcar promotion!

Redcar V Berwick Pl 10 July 2014
RedcarRacer replied to screm's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The result flattered Redcar, riders didn't want to know from the off, the odd heat aside. The team is just wrong, you have a 3 and 4 in lemon and Wilkinson who are reserve standard, but then again that is probably what they are being paid. Yes track again was poor but there was only one side who wanted to win. Poor crowd in stark contrast to last week, but Cardiff weekend and holidays coming you can understand that. -
Gives Redcar some issues, Konopka will be a very good 3 pointer. Most clubs would drop Crang - who isnt our asset - and then bring a plus 6 pointer in to keep Graversen at reserve. However, I would not be shocked to see our promotion just go with Crang and Konopka at reserve, but hope they prove me wrong - if we did make the change, Konopka and Gravesen at reserve is a pretty mouth-watering prospect.

Great result, good job Aaron didnt turn up or it could have been a real thumping! -

There isnt that much difference between them at times. Skidmore struggles when he is not at 2, so tends to stay there. -
Brutal from Newcastle, but hats off to the promotion - showing ambition. Personally I would snap up Rosen.

Hall Not Returning To Redcar
RedcarRacer replied to Yearbyred's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thumbs up to the management, keeping Konopka will hopefully benefit the club long term. Pleased Hall isn't coming in. Pressure on others now. -
Adam Roynon Dropped By Sheffield
RedcarRacer replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great move by the Sheffield promotion, who are clearly showing they want to win things, can only be applauded. I just hope we dont see Roynon turn up on Redcar's door begging for a place, NOT WELCOME! -
