Thing is, those fans cannot prove that, it has to be taken on trust. If you are a regular fan at any track you can get a rough idea how many are there, within say 200 or so, but you dont know for sure. But speedway has never released attendances. I think a few old world finals did, ie wembley 81. I think i recall them saying it was 80k, and considering Cardiff get no more than say 45k that is very good.

I agree with you Steve, but tha thats for some reason always been the case.
-
All promotions are a business Steve, therefore will pay the correct amount of tax. They couldnt afford not to, otherwise the taxman will dig and dig..
-
Mate, if it is the case that Breeden have stopped making Red shale then clubs have two choices, either get something very simular with not to much clay content or if you want it brought in clubs will have to start tapping up sponsors maybe 3-4 to help financilly.
-
Yep i agree Bob, the make over should help, but the period between bends 1-2 being completely re-laid and practice for me is a concern, its barely 3 weeks and imo know where near enough time for it to bed in properly. The 3-4th bends had far to much dirt on it last year, you dont need it, that now looks fine, the straights could be cambered better but they are ok. Its all about the prep Bob, if the boys put the four wheel blade round EVERY week before prep then you can do what you like with it, and it keeps it smooth and level. But your next problem is shale, if its true that Breeden have stopped making Red shale then you need something very simular with not to much clay content in it... you can add it with bags of dust clay, but you cannot take it off... To much clay content is not good...

Well we have some so i think we had better use it sparringly. Nothing else gets near it. thats a shame.
-
Thank you for you input, i wont lose any sleep over it..

Ive seen all three tracks on TV mate, but im sure there will be some on here who will want to make a song and Dance about my posts without even reading them. But you get them everywhere you go...
-
Thing is mate, you need the right shale, Red shale is the best in the business, it binds better than anything else. You also need to put the four wheel blade round first thing before prep, every week. Once you've done that you can do what you like with the track. It takes about 45 mins to an hr to do it properly. When its right we have a dam good track, since john retired in 0-12 its been very much trial and Error,, Im not complaining about the BV track its been built on the same lines as Hyde rd, although i never see that track but clearly it got rave reviews, Like Swindon, its just an observation, some Swindon fans admit if the track was 10 metres shorter at each end you would have a dam good race track, My observation is the same at BV, they dont seem to grasp that and they think i am critisising the set up, clearly they dont read the posts and just wade in feet first. my observation is the same at Berwick, if they took part of a corner off it would make it far better and rounded, an observation.. The place at BV is brand new, and providing they keep on top of it it will last for years in tip top condition. Everybody is welcome to there opinions, but clearly poole fans are not. Nothing new there...
-
Yep they certainly are mate. I have an opinion mate, if they dont like my opinion then they shouldnt respond on the thread. i never see the old Hyde rd track but i hear it was a very good track, i also complimented Chris Morton who should have gone right to the top as he was very capable, but that fell on deaf ears as well. Just no pleasing some, or are they on here just to cause a mischief., sometimes makes you wonder.. some are quite responsive and will reason with you, some are just plain argumentative, i cannot be bothered with the hassle.
-
Opinions mate. Dont like it dont respond. Simple really. I dont need the hastle. I mentioned Chris morton in my post, there aint no pleasing some.
-
Everybody has there opinions mate, ive got mine. Try reading my posts, but you wont do that, will you... You'l just jump in toes first..

I couldnt disagree, some of the best tracks are in Poland, but what BV have got is room, as i said riders do not have to do it all on lap one. But although they may, get some decent racing, its no different to some of the other tracks. I mean, just as a small example, they bang on about certain individual meetings, well take the world cup final at Poole, Havvy v Rempala, you wont see to many of those, anywhere.. The 1981 world final at Wembley, Penhall V Knudsen and Penhall V Olsen, nobodys made a song and dance about that. People would que for miles to watch Mark Loram at Poole, weekly he would tear up opponants, Same as Kryztof Cegelski he was the same used to dance round riders, then you had Micheal Lee, and ive seen Chris Morton do the same and then theres poor Darcy, and Chris holder, the telepathic turbo twins i called them, they did the same,Somerset get some cracking racing, things do happen at other tracks, not just BV. but the way some talk you wouldnt think so..
-
To big to long. Like Swindon if it was 10 metres shorter at each end you would have the perfect track.
-
Very good..
-
Blimey Sid, we are going back a bit now. Yep even the likes of Auty can have a go, because you have the room and you have the time to line up your attack.
-
Steve the snow will have no effect at all mate, what we dont want is hard frosts or very heavy continuous rain. The first and second bend should be ok, providing we do not get the above. That said, i would have much rather the track had a good two mths to bed in, not 3 weeks..
-
Your top post is very good.
-
Thats what your place needs mate, if you do shorten the straights you racing will improve no end.
-
Mate ive not had the chance to get up there yet, all being well, i hope to get up there this season I do agree with your lack of falls bit as appart from a small scrum on bend one all the riders are able to spread out a bit, and will have more time to plan there attack, there are 4 laps to a race, many riders want to do it all in one lap. I see like Sid, you are a big fan of the old Hyde road track..
-
Very true, Swindon KL Sheffield Shay Halifax Exeter Wembley were all big galloping tracks, the others may have been at some point but are not now. As with Ackney and Cradley and even Wimbledon White City Reading sadly they now no longer exist.
-
Thats the thing Sid, you need to get the crowds in to pay your way, internationals and individuals are shared events so the club would only get a portion of the income thats why for league racing they must get the crowds in,, we go back to that Carrot again. Torun is good, and although i didnt really see Hyde rd just bits of footage, but i heard that was superb.
-
Yeh, but i also think the Abbey is to big. Take 10 metres of each end then you would have the near perfect track. plenty of follow the leader racing there mate.. BV is like any decent good shaped track, you will still get many a follow the leader racing, of course you will get the odd PROPER speedway race the same as any decent shaped track, ie Poole and Somerset spring to mind but because of the nature of the BV track and being so wide riders will feel safer in taking more risks, which applies to any track, if the rider feels safe he will put himself out more. But i just feel some fans are going a little over board. Remember, they will be paying a huge rent to the council, so they need to get the fans in, although i believe that is not always the case, and how many councils are prepared to build new tracks and stadia ?They have been lucky, the best thing they did was get out of Kirky lane. But Its new therefore will if kept on top of be easier to maintain.

28 posts in and your winding up people who have been posters on here a lot longer than you have. BV might be a decent track, but it should be, its brand new and therefore easier to maintain.. But it is also to big. but i doubt you will agree with me.. for which i will not respond. Please consider other posters views.
