Swindon Vs Kings Lynn 21 August 2017

Can't think why. Anyone would think something had happened in their team to account for this sudden dislike of all things antipodean! -

So if it's rained off and re-arranged who gets prority as it's a rearranged fixture? -

So if this has been dropped, what was the point of bringing the strength of the leagues closer together? -

It's just the latest craze by the forum sheep. Aussie bashing. And King's Lynn fans deciding an entire country from down under is responsible for the Stars predicament. He IS crap at team riding, though. -

No big deal. Just comments in an interview. Yeah, maybe he has developed a bit of cockyness, but maybe that's how he got himself from being a long time second division rider to possibly the best rider in the World. I find it amazing how people feel it is ok to hurl insults left, right and centre on this forum but, as soon as a rider says anything, everyone becomes such sensitive souls. Lighten up. Good news for you all is that he'll probably be forced out of the league next year, just as they tried to do this year. Then you can all enjoy how much speedway is without the top stars and not understand why crowds have dropped again. True about team-riding though. He is Shiite at it. What would you prefer? Adverts? -

Don't see why everyone's got it in for Jason Doyle all of a sudden. Nature of this forum I guess. -
Are they? Swindon are top of the league this year and I'd say crowds are about the same as last year. Rye House reportedly have larger crowds. Could that be because of an increase in rider quality? Poole's crowds are reportedly down, as is team quality. Because stronger sides mean larger crowds. Ever since 39.95 crowds seem to have gone down with each weakening year.
-
In which case it would be the BSPA who insisted. Not Swindon. Ridiculous situation anyway - but at least they didn't go down the path of a double header against Somerset twice!
-
It will just be last week's with an insert. While not exactly enticing, at least it will stop people being fed up they paid for an old programme.
-
Who do you gather that from? It's certainly not the public face that was put on it. It was originally cancelled because Somerset couldn't get a side together, then put back in the schedule with Swindon publicly thanking Somerset for their co-operation.
-
So why is it that every year, when they lower the points limit and even up team strengths more and more at the expense of quality, the crowds go down?

I don't believe that there would be too many new supporters in the crowd. It would be people who know speedway. Many people, such as myself, don't go every week but choose which meetings to attend. With this being a £5 meeting, many part-time supporters would have chosen this one. If it was £5 every week you still wouldn't get the same people going every week. They would, I'm sure, still decide which meetings to go to and which not to. I'm sure that pretty much everyone who was there last night will go again, just not necessarily on the same night. with Monday's meeting, next Mondays double header plus guests in abundance, I reckon they'll be lucky to get 500 on Thursday. -

That's the flaw with the scoring system. If the home team lost a point for winning by 6 or less at home, Swindon would have had Doyle in heat 15. As it was, what do Swindon care if King's Lynn gain a point? Because he is one of only 2 World class riders in the league. -

Agree we are missing Zach a lot. If anything costs us, it's that. I just can't be having all these guests all the time. Hate it. It's saying necessity at no 7, but having 2 guests at reserve? Not for me, if it can be avoided. -

It doesn't work like that. Give Lambert 2 second places in his last 2 rides. That gives King's Lynn a 1-5 in heat 11 and 3-3 in heat 13. So it's 42-41 going into heat 15. Not an 8 point swing. A 6 point swing. Swindon then put Doyle out in 15 instead of Morris. 5-1 to Swindon. 47-42. -

I'd rather have our own rider having a go than another sodding guest. -

Yeah, we could have had two non scoring reserves then. -

I do wish Jason Doyle would team ride sometimes. -
Maybe they should offer reduced admission on Thursday for fans who attend tomorrow's meeting. Might help fill both matches a bit.

Swindon - Somerset 17th Aug 17
Grachan replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not so sure about that. The idea of two matches against Somerset doesn't seem as appealing to me as matches against two different sides. -
They needed a Brit a few years back and chose Tai Woffinden. How did that work out?
-
I really like that website, and often browse through it to pass a bit of time. Would love to see location maps added as I often find myself trying to work out where stadiums were.
-
One of the first meetings I attended was a double header at Swindon in 1974, with Swindon taking on Hackney first and then Belle Vue. Guesting at no 1 for Hackney was... Bob Kilby. Guesting at no 1 for Belle Vue was... Bob Kilby. Biggest crowd I ever saw at Swindon. Could barely move.

Jack Holder And The (lack Of A) 9 Month Ban
Grachan replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ah ok, so he missed a league match yesterday. I didn't realise that. That's different. This does put the rider in a difficult situation, but if riders want to ride Polish league on a Sunday instead of riding in lower league matches then they shouldn't be riding in the lower league. -

You'll have to explain that one. I don't know about yesterday.
