Swindon Vs Kings Lynn 21 August 2017
Grachan replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Agree we are missing Zach a lot. If anything costs us, it's that. I just can't be having all these guests all the time. Hate it. It's saying necessity at no 7, but having 2 guests at reserve? Not for me, if it can be avoided. -

It doesn't work like that. Give Lambert 2 second places in his last 2 rides. That gives King's Lynn a 1-5 in heat 11 and 3-3 in heat 13. So it's 42-41 going into heat 15. Not an 8 point swing. A 6 point swing. Swindon then put Doyle out in 15 instead of Morris. 5-1 to Swindon. 47-42. -

I'd rather have our own rider having a go than another sodding guest. -

Yeah, we could have had two non scoring reserves then. -

I do wish Jason Doyle would team ride sometimes. -
Maybe they should offer reduced admission on Thursday for fans who attend tomorrow's meeting. Might help fill both matches a bit.

Swindon - Somerset 17th Aug 17
Grachan replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not so sure about that. The idea of two matches against Somerset doesn't seem as appealing to me as matches against two different sides. -
They needed a Brit a few years back and chose Tai Woffinden. How did that work out?
-
I really like that website, and often browse through it to pass a bit of time. Would love to see location maps added as I often find myself trying to work out where stadiums were.

One of the first meetings I attended was a double header at Swindon in 1974, with Swindon taking on Hackney first and then Belle Vue. Guesting at no 1 for Hackney was... Bob Kilby. Guesting at no 1 for Belle Vue was... Bob Kilby. Biggest crowd I ever saw at Swindon. Could barely move.

Jack Holder And The (lack Of A) 9 Month Ban
Grachan replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ah ok, so he missed a league match yesterday. I didn't realise that. That's different. This does put the rider in a difficult situation, but if riders want to ride Polish league on a Sunday instead of riding in lower league matches then they shouldn't be riding in the lower league. -

You'll have to explain that one. I don't know about yesterday. -
Jack Holder And The (lack Of A) 9 Month Ban
Grachan replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
But surely teams should be able to pick whichever four riders they want to for such an event s long as they are using their own riders. If it were a league match then I would see your point, but Peterborough were still able to put out a winning side for this event. -

It's common sense for Peterborough to allow Holder to ride in Poland instead of the Fours. It's only four riders per team. It's a Sunday. It's Polish league day and the lads career is at stake. How did Peterborough's scandalously weakened team do in the end, anyway? And can people PLEASE stop claiming a UK visa lets you ride in Poland. Where does this nonsense come from? -
Is the GP really that strong this year? I keep reading this, but I'm not so sure. It's certainly more even, and maybe stronger at the bottom end than some years, but I'm not convinced it's so strong as in the past. Is Doyle better than Crump? Is Janowski better than Gollob? Lindgren better than Rickardsson? Pedersen a few years back was better than any Dane in this year's competition. Woffinden now not quite as strong as Woffinden a couple of years ago. A good, even competition though. If the Danes need a wildcard I'd go for Nicki if fit.

Yeah. I've seen it now as someone put a link to it. I can never find my way round Twitter though.
-
He does kind of have a point though.

Someone posted this tweet onto a Speedway Facebook page earlier. When I checked Darcy's Twitter I couldn't see it, although I did see a tweet saying he wished he was still at Poole after they got thrashed last night, so I was a bit dubious that it was genuine. Later there was no sign of the post that was on Facebook either so it could have been a hoax?

Chris Holder Banned From British Speedway
Grachan replied to cinderfella's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Can't see anything wrong with doing that personally. Didn't King's Lynn do a similar thing with Robert Lambert, who couldn't ride until he was 16. -
The man is a liability. In a year where my team, Swindon, are top of the league and on a brilliant winning streak he has, quite amazingly, still single-handedly managed to make me lose some entusiasm for the season. Genius.

Time To Crack Down On The Aussies?
Grachan replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
He is British. He has citizenship. Also, he was due to commit himself to the future as a British rider by riding in a meeting as a British rider but the BSPA refused to allow him to. I can't remember the exact detail, but there was quite a furore at the time. It was only after that that he chose to ride as an Aussie. -

So are you going to say what Nick Morris has done wrong or not? -
You could be right. I've tried looking up a few sites and it doesn't seem totally clear what their situation is on this. It also gets affected by earnings and so on. Personally I hope they are able to come back last year just for the stength of the league.

The cooling off period was scrapped in 2015 to give employers more flexibility, so as long as they don't over stay they shouldn't have any problems next year. http://www.workpermit.com/news/uk-immigration-changes-including-tier-2-visa-changes-6-april-2015-20150421

I agree with others that the only real flaw is the way they cut to a close up of the finish line to watch the leader go past regardless of whether or not there is a good race going on behind.
